Rebuilt Railroad Crossing & RR Yard, Rebuilt Locomotive, Checking Train Speed With Radar, Train Stops On Trestle & Chasing Train On Ex Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Line. Close Look At Rail, Filming Both Sides Of Train & Short Line Railroad Action On Indiana & Ohio Railway From Wilmington To Loveland, Ohio. This Was The CSX Midland Sub When I Lived Next To It. Today It Is The IORY Midland Sub.
This is a southbound mixed freight with 3 big locomotives headed to Cincinnati. The locomotive with the new paint is a C40-8W that I am told came from CSX and was built in 1993. 4782 is an ex BNSF C44-9W built in 1998 and 4564 is ex BNSF C44-9W built in 1999. All 3 are General Electric locomotives.
I&O is just one short line railroad of many that is owned by Genesee & Wyoming Railroad. G&W paints all of their short lines in the same scheme so that is why the line near you has the same paint scheme. They have lines in several countries including Australia.
We take a look at the 4 track railroad yard in Midland just outside of Blanchester, Ohio. The 4 track railroad crossing has been rebuilt into 2 tracks and the yard has been updated with new switches and track. This small yard is actually pretty busy and is used as the interchange yard for the Greenfield Sub that I&O leases from the town of Greenfield, Ohio. The interchange is just a mile to the north where the old train station used to be until it burnt on the first day of this year.
I checked the train speed and noticed the train slowing down. It actually stopped for a couple of hours before continuing on. Notice the last town that the train books through. That is Loveland, Ohio and is a No Train Horn zone. It was one of the first towns in Ohio to become a no train horn zone. Also check out the old B&O train station. Is that awesome looking or what?!
Best frequency for this line is 161.220 for the road channel and I recommend using the EOT frequency and maybe consider using the front EOT frequency also since there is very little chatter on this line. I have listed those frequencies in a lot of my videos. We also see a closeup of another radio of mine.
Thanks for watching and commenting! I really appreciate it!
Don't miss the Live Action Pets and the slide show that comes from the video.
Filmed Tuesday, July 30, 2024 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

Even though we are in the heart of agricultural country JT gets the IORY gondola and steel coil car greeting so you can tell you're nearing Cincinnati. That was a nice little Park they have in town squeezed in between the two busy roadways. Some of those brown gondolas you can still see the CSL Green Round emblem in the middle of the car when they were Chicago Shortline. Lucky that the live-action tank did not get hung up on the Crossing. Thanks for the update on the yard and now the track looks smoother and is safer to switch by the intersection with its unique mixture of rail weight and Builder. Your memories of the old Crossing and the companies that were served by rail years ago versus what is now there are truly interesting. Finally a cool day ahead and supposedly 4 comfy days in a row maybe some will make it down by you

I cannot for the life of me understand why so many towns put their comfort above safety. 'No train horn' zones do nothing but make it a lot more hazardous. Watching Jason Asselin's videos of Iron Mountain's numerous crossing runners just shows that with all the inattentive driving going on all over, anything to draw a driver's attention away from any distraction is a good thing. A couple of 4000 horsepower locomotives hauling a hundred thousand tons with the potential to do some serious damage should take priority over anyone's personal comfort.

I enjoyed seeing some new (at least for me) locations in Ohio. Thanks for showing us the yard while waiting for the train. An interesting mixed consist (and no intermodals or autoracks!). That Chessie Steam Special you rode was not pulled with Chessie power (you probably know all this). It was a Reading class T-1 4-8-4, a beautiful engine. 2102, its sister, is now running on the Reading and Northern out of Reading, PA. 2101 (used on the Chessie Steam Special as well as the American Freedom Train) was damaged in roundhouse fire in 1979. It was cosmetically restored and put on display in the B&O museum. Sister 2100 is being restored in Ohio, so will hopefully be back on excursion service soon. The last of the four saved from the wrecker is on static display at Steamtown. (Just a nit, but when you are driving you can't accurately measure the speed of the train out your window. You have to be standing still in relationship to the train. You were just about pacing the train, though so your car speed was close to the train speed.)

They probably are going to put in crossing gates In place of the cross books where that little mini yard was. But I think it's also likely they may put in a defect detector and would the extra sightings a maintenance of way storage area and Possibly a loading platform of some kind on one of the Outside siding.

The switches were both turned on so they’re powering something already…

4:12 That semi is likely hauling a fiberglass water tank. Are they building anything big nearby?

If you notice, just before that police vehicle, there was a pick up truck with a height gauge on its front bumper.

The over size load is a gasoline tanker for a gas station, reason I know this is because they put one in my Town at the local gas station. A huge crane put it in the ground it was cool to watch them put it in. It holds gallons of gas for sure.
