I like how Jon Stewart said it about whoever is in the White House doesn’t mean we’re saved or doomed. We still have to live everyday for the rest of our lives.
Keep in mind Biden isn't running the country right now anyways. His advisors and secretaries are. The guys has nothing left upstairs. So a vote for Biden is essentially the same thing we have now. Though what I expect happens is he steps down and Harris takes over. And the other guy I don't see lasting long either, he seems close to having a stroke. So vote for whatever VP sounds good.
I hated that Stewart said that. He still thinks Trump will have people in the government trying to rein him in. Trump now knows what to do. It’s going to be worse. We have to stop this “both sides-ism” that’s perpetuated by CNN and sadly, Stewart.
The US is doing better economically than every other developed country in the world right now and it's not even close. The Eurozone pays 8 euros for a liter gas and has roughly the same GDP they had in 2008. Japan and Korea are in terminal demographic decline. Canada's private sector is so monopolized that it's become inefficient. If you want better than the best economy in the world, then you want a fairytale, not reality, because this is the best there is. Sorry that life is hard.

If you look at the job market from before he got into office and today, the job market hasn't recovered. If a company had 2,000 workers, pre-covid, and things were running smoothly, then government mandates cause 1,000 to be fired or quit, you're hurting. After those people left, the older folks at that place retire due to their age and not wanting to keep doing their job because it just got 3x harder to do, so now you have 900 people left to run the place. Now you might get people hired in due to incentives to get new blood in there, but most quit before they've been there a month and more regular people quit. Fast forward 4 years and the place might have 1,700 working there today. The government says they've created jobs because 1,700 people are working there when they compare it to the 900 they had before, but the business is still 300 people short of where they were 4 years ago.

@@ThePredilection "facts" without context. Stock market is up, but fails to mention the 24% loss in revenue from companies that are not publicly traded (which, you know, make up the MAJORITY of businesses). You know, failing to mention the two trillion dollar annual deficit with over 4% CPI. Those facts? Or how every major credit card company is reporting record number charge-offs because Americans now owe more than $1trillion in credit card debt on top of all the other debt, including those that bought cars priced tens of thousands over MSRP at climbing interest rates that they can no longer pay back, so there's a massive recall of cars and a massive wave of defaults that many banks will likely not be able to recover from because those same vehicles are no longer valued at the price they were financed for. This also has trickle down effects for people looking for loans in the future which puts the brakes on spending... which as we know in a capitalist economy is a BAD THING. But let's focus on how good those stock prices are doing...for the investors and inside traders in congress that own stock. Oh let's also say "the housing market is great!" while the housing market continues to cool because those people that bought houses they couldn't afford at interest rates that are too high are now being foreclosed on. Do you know who is coming in to buy these houses? It's not you and me. It's Wallstreet. It will give this illusion of an okay market while also neglecting what increased home values are doing to property taxes...which again, means that homeowners that were able to afford their homes no longer can. The percentage of people who rent rather than own is going up, and those that haven't locked in affordable rates at affordable prices are not going to be buying homes in the foreseeable future. And the job growth? Over the last 4 months, those impressive job numbers have been revised to be over 100,000 jobs less than what was reported. Most of the job growth ISN'T in the private sector, either. It takes just a drop of common sense to know why this is a BAD thing long-term... hell, right now, it's bad in the short term. The only goal the media has right now is to make the current administration look good while the administration does everything in its power to delay the inevitable. "Unemployment is low. The stock market is high" That's your problem right there. These factors are actually negative considering the rise in prices, primarily due to gouging, not inflation, and the stagnancy in wages. Add to that the predatory companies that doesn't give full time employment to their workers to avoid paying health insurance or even a decent wage, and the rise in employment suddenly makes sense too... Nowhere else in a rich country does people have 3 jobs to make ends (barely) meet. TLDR: Corporations are doing great. No one else is.

I think a lot of this is caused by a (probably deliberate) lack of education in America as to what our politicians actually do. For example, we place an extremely excessive importance on who occupies the presidency. We act like we’re electing a deity that controls our lives. When in reality, the actions of the president have little to no actual effect on our lives. Meanwhile, political positions that DO heavily affect our lives, like state and local legislatures, district attorneys, judges and local sheriffs are almost completely ignored. Again, I think this is partially by design.
The GOP in particular do everything in their power to suppress education. It's the only way they can now get elected, relying on people's sheer ignorance.
I do my best to listen to both. Fox makes me cringe nowadays though. They lost every single "reporter/ journalist" who had any kind of a positive reputation. So I'll read Politico or Reuters instead.

There's a difference beween "inflation" and "prices". Inflation is the rate at which the amount of money increases compared to the amount of goods. It's entirely possible that the rate of inflation is the same as it was 3 years ago, which means prices are rising at the same rate as 3 years ago.
