Imo don't - the community is toxic and strict rules prohibit hams from Having fun for instance discussing politics the bandwidth is jokingly poor by design so no way to share videos or links. That is, 5780 5838 6230 6402 and 6930 are all playing the newer pip sound. Some with the included background noise (e.g. it still seems to be rebroadcast). The music on 6218 must be some pretty serious amount of power to be as clear as it is in so many places (S8 over an S1 noise floor in Finland, S5 over an S1 floor in the UK, S8 over S5 floor in Austria, S9+20dB over S9 floor in Romania, a weak but audible S6 in Kuwait, weak but clearer S5 in Novosibirsk).

Noises of a 29B6 Kontayner OTH Radar could be heard on USB from 26,865 MHz all the way up. Idk if the latter only was Harmonics from another Frequency. About these Air Raid Siren Sounds: Could these be overlaying background from a Speaker to Mike setup like on the Buzzer? Then these signals would come from Transmitters near Belgorod.

Is it just me, or are 6930 and 5780 keying up and down for their beeps? If you listen closely, you can tell the static clears just before and just after the beep, then jumps right back up. It's like whatever is generating the audio is triggering the transmitter to broadcast it, then immediately shutting off after each beep. Either that or there's a very tight AGC in the chain somewhere, possibly even at the receiving end. But I didn't notice it on any of the other transmissions, just the new beeps. You do mention the costs involved with transmitting these things 24/7, so that might be a cost-savings measure.

@XJwolf4 well, haha, I've never been IN a numberstation, so I don't really know if there are people present when they go on the air... As of illegal... most numberstations operate outside of the usual bands and are mostly government operated. I don't think that we, as world citizens, are allowed to operate outside the bands. So in that case, it is illegal. Contacting a numberstation on their own frequency is highly unusual and to be honest I don't think they will be very pleased if you did... being from a foreign country it seems unlikely that they will try to come to you or something. But on the other hand I would not like to mess with the likes of Poetin and his cohorts... better save than 😞

@SpecialGuestStar
@SpecialGuestStar Месяц назад
Radio transmitting has certain and very specific rules, starting from getting a license to the power you're allowed to use, just as the limitations of bands that is provided for your purposes. Pirates do not follow, respect or obey these rules. And I assume I don't have to emphasise how both illegal and unethical jamming or trolling other stations is. Talking about harmless stations, and not such military stations that actually operates against your country in a conflict. I've been a radio amateur and SW enthusiast for 25 years, and what's currently going on is nothing shortwave radio is supposed to be about. What started as some cheesy political bickering in the 40m band has just grown into a massive undertaking by pirates who have the money and effort to operate an entire station in their households to create all kinds of fake channels, markers, jam others ,and mislead guileless amateurs just because their countries don't put any effort into enforcing these rules. It's like if your country doesn't punish robbery, some people with bad intentions will start doing it showing no remorse whatsoever. Shortwave is not a natural resource, it's a field that used serve, and at some level still serve the interests of countries, companies, and at limited levels entertainment for amateurs and hobbists. These pirates are damaging everything some people invested lifetimes to keep this area clean and controlled. Some people put years into learning radio stuff and the rules sets involved, invested a fortune to enjoy the greatness and value of shortwave radio, and now some pirates show up to poop into your scrambled egg. It's like an idiot deliberately leaking oil into the lake you've been fishing at since you were a kid. Natural resource or not, it's not something you're supposed to poison uncontrolled. :)

What are the pictures with the dark blue background and the purple splotches? If they are graphs of some sort, how about axis labels?

Thats baisicly a spectogram. The darker the spot, the weaker the signal. The more light the color gets the stroger the signal is. Its a visualisation of the signal in a so called waterfall diagramm.

@@user-gb8jp8ew6z Thank you for the explanation. So one axis is frequency and the other is time? Is there a reason that the frequencies and the times are not shown?

@@carltauber2939The frequencies and times are in the lower left corner.

Usually there is, but I think Lewis just showed the part where the sound was visible, time and frequency are mostly on top and on the side of the screen...

I wish the government would allow some HF frequencies for experimental broadcasting such as 160 kHz - 190 kHz in the United States... why not allow this on HF frequencies (USA)?

The ticking sound on 5800, 7000, 8200, 9400 kHz could they be the signal from the Russian dead hand system

I just got some music on the 9400, but there's too much static to make it out.

Oh for the days of radio pirates broadcasting popular music. Now, so much espionage and counter-espionage you cannot distinguish between Russian and Western signals. Hopefully the British will use the theme music from "The Magic Roundabout " or cricket commentary by Henry Blofeld and John Arlott as channel markers. Face it, old style test match cricket commentary will send the eavesdroppers asleep .
