Waiting for some of the old TEK4 stuff. Multimeter, Stud Finder, Infared Thermal Sensor (temp gun), Laser Level, Noise Cancelling Headphones, Camera Scope and more.
More toys from Ryobi. Stuff that will get hung on the wall and never used. The ratchets are too big to fit in most engine compartments anyway. Besides, who needs to be changing batteries to keep a simple socket wrench working? I will stick with my standard old fashioned dependable tools that have been making me money for the last 30 years.
Without question that foam cutting hot wire tool is cool as hell. That's one of those tools I feel every guy will want, yet rarely use 😂 however if you do a lot of shipping I could see this being immensely helpful
Not a Ryobi design. It's the same as every bottom-end wood burner/soldering iron's stand. Ryobi could have at least put a flat spot on the side of the battery door, so it wouldn't try to roll off of that crappy stand.
0.50 You forgot to mention the 3Amp is a slight upgrade to the 2amp versions. The 3 amp not only has higher battery ability. But the USB-C port is Bi-directional. Unlike the 2amp version that can ONLY take charge. The 3amp version can Take charge and ALSO give charge. Plus the 3amp has 3 LED's in it that can tell you how low it is by the yellow button on the 3amp version. Green, Yellow, Red. Unlike the 2amp that can't and only flashes when charging and solid when charged. So the 3amp version is a portable battery for your OTHER devices and Ryobi's because of the USB-C port is Bi-directional charging ability unlike the sinlge sided 2amp version. So you can charge a phone off the battery.
Thry just announced a new 2Ah version that has bi-directional charging and an indicator, too. It probably won't be included with these tools but maybe the next run.
Bi-directional is an impressive feature in that package size. I didn't realize that! A good quality 18650 lithium ion battery 3500mAh or 12.6Wh is $20 on its own and you need a charger (you can go smaller battery size and get built-in USB-C charge port though). These are 12Wh with bi-directional for $35... not bad at all.
At that point of it being a single cell, it’s asinine to not just make it run on standard 18650’s. I’m sure they say it’s for a safety and ensuring quality performance, but they just made it take up more space for a single cell and will charge much more for just a $3-4 battery that could have been a pop in with a larger 21700 and fit the same form factor there without the plastic casing. I hate this.
Seems liks Ryobi is near the end of the line. Maybe their R&D departments has balooned and they need to show results? Ryobi seems to be trying to abandon the ONE+ series by introducing new battery types, when they promised to support the ONE+ series forever. Well, it didn't take long before they abandoned that promise. They are making a lot of unnecessary products like the magnifying glass and a lot of "competing" products. How many almost identical "hobby stations" do they have now? How many almost identical vacuum cleaners? How many almost identical inflators? How many almost identical whatever? Ryobi has lost its bearing and is going in circles cannibalizing itself by eating its own product line tail.
The foam cutter could be useful for shaping foam for RC planes and stuff. The ratchets and flashlight are nifty. I think the asking price is a bit high though.
The flashlight was more cardboard around the edges with plastic in the middle, a little too thick for the cutter. The knife was quicker to just run around the bottom of the blister. Thanks for watching.
Sorry but the USB line is overpriced and uninspired. $40 for a magnifying tool? $100 for a foam cutter? Ryobi has lost their minds. I might as well switch to Hart
It's still TTI parent company but higher quality and that amount is buying you a $20-25 battery. So that's a $20 magnify. A regular one will cost you $10. We don't live in the 90's anymore with ni-cad. That's the price of thing. A bit much for the foam cutter but the ratchet and most others things are a pretty good buy. They need to start selling tool only.
If you look at some of these smaller tools they’ve released in the last few years, I think they’re trying to bring crafters to their brand. You may not have a use for these but I can see uses for people who are into crafting. And as someone else pointed out, its time for Ryobi to start selling the tools and the batteries separately like they do with the big tools
@@kellilandry2825 They're definitely trying to bring crafters into their "brand"... But what the Hell is the point of sinking into this brand if there is literally no functional interoperability with anything else in the brand? The tools aren't that good but they command a high price premium, and for what exactly? It's like wearing branded clothing.
@@silicondave2797, you should give serious consideration to not purchase them then. Perhaps someone that can utilize them for what they do can benefit 😏 Not everything is for everyone.
They could have given us a couple of laser levels. Instead, we get a flashlight with a cat toy on it. Even the DIY homeowner folks can use a decent laser level, for hanging pictures and such. Why does anyone need a laser dot on a flashlight? Are we doing presentations during power outages?
RYOBI should have magnified battery covers on all of these tools. The ratchets would benefit with a magnetic base instead of putting them down you can put on something metal instead of having to put on floor or table to keep it hands reach.
Whyyyyyy ryobi we just wanted compact 18volt tool or even 12volt like m12 , please make a strong ratchet that fits better then your 18volt one please make a m12 type line up lol
Interesting. I'm getting crazy idea to modify my Ryobi P3100 Soldering gun to work as a Foam cutter 🤔 Very cool tool, but little pricey. Thank's for this presentation.
These are awesome for hobbyists and arts & crafts folks that don't want to go neck deep into their wallets for professional grade tools from companies like Milwaukee. Thanks for giving us a heads up on these, Tim. 👍
@@waxveasle Did you miss the ratchets and the light in the video or did you just read the title of the video? Oh and no love for the magnifying glass...ya know, because big red army doesn't offer one fo those either. 😑 Ryobi is for guys like you that don't use their tools daily to earn a living.
The foam cutter may be the only thing that might be useful for the price. Ryobi states that the ratchets are only rated up to 72 in-lbs (6 ft-lbs) and they do not recommend using it manually. The 3V system is really lacking in power.
@@Shoptoolreviews Ryobi did have a 12 volt line back when the tools were still blue and ran on NiCad batteries. My first cordless was a 12 volt from them about 20 years ago.
I can see all these tools being useful. I like the magnifying glass but I already bought it's bigger 18v snake cabled brother, and it's freaking awesome. I use it a lot more than I ever thought I would. I wouldn't mind the foam cutter for when I make custom seats for my old vintage snowmobiles.
That gooseneck mag glass is so damn useful for soldering especially. Or any detail work. These USB products are so much smaller. I have the clamp 18v fan and the USB one is so much smaller. I use that now to blow any solder smoke away from me. LOL
Those ratchets look nifty, but then I thought about the price and am wondering why I should get one of them instead of a cordless screwdriver and a 1/4 hex to 1/4 square adapter? Or an installation driver like the Bosch? (It’s more expensive but very nice)
I agree with the overpriced LEDs. The led is pennies and the 18650 is maybe $5-10. That said I was complaining the LEDs to what Milwaukee has offered and I'ma impressed. I was hoping for a better value but it's about equal. Battery is not as good as Milwaukee but I have to give it to Ryobi for instructions at least
Im wondering why the 1/4 ratchet is $69 and the 3/8 is $49...weird. I ordered and am awaiting the 3/8 ratchet currently. I have a ton of Ryobi tools, not a professional but I beat up my tools pretty good. So far so good for me.
I have liked the mag glass they have with 18v and clamp on a gooseneck. I don't really get this handheld one, without a clamp or anything you lose some capability, would love a cap option with a simple tripod type screw point and a pivot head. The flashlight seems decent with that pivoting head, mag base at that price... I'd rather it be $40 with no laser though. That little clip fan is super useful for it's size... they really have an interesting line up with this platform.
I think it's a great idea for this line. Cheaper than Milwaukee with the benefits of more usable tools with the same battery. Milwaukee only has led lights and now headphones with the USB platform
Is the case for the foam cutter compatible with the link system? I can’t imagine why someone would need that on a job site, but it’d be cool if it was.
I'd like to see the ratchets next to the m12 ratchets. I know speed wise the m12 will blow these little batteries out of the water, but I didn't bother with the 1/4 drive and only got the 3/8 because the 1/4 wasn't even more compact. But that ryobi 1/4 looks like it would be. I'd just have to paint it red.
