Glad u pointed this out. I like the evo selects. Def on a budget 😑. With the amount of devices needing microsd, it doesn't hurt to know some of the better quality, low cost deals.

The real issue is almost no device (other than some of Samsung's own devices) use Samsung's SD card adapter/technology, so no matter how fast the new card claim to be, it will be caped to the maximum speed of UHS-1 (104MB/s)

Micro SD cards are not the only thing that will effect speed and performance on the raspberry Pi. You have to also consider Pi hardware SOC version, Eeprome and kernel version you may be using. Someone may have the same card as you and have totally different performers your showing .

I just bought the blue Evo for my switch. Its only a $1 difference from the green one right now. (October 17)The reviews seem to be ppl buying the wrong sd card with slow writing speeds, or ppl at Amazon are shipping the wrong sd card. Whatever the case is, the point made in the video is that the blue just released so ur less likely to get scammed or the wrong read/write speed.

Which adapter did you use? I believe these twp memories are the same thing rebranded, but your write speeds were way too low on both cards as compared to other tests i've seen

Sandisk reliability is absolute crap. Never put one in your smartphone unless you want to lose everything. That's the big plus from Samsung, and almost never considered when testing. Speed is one factor but not the most important imo.

The micro center micro sd died on two of my devices one a nintendo switch lite and the other on a fire hd 10 2019 tablet would not recommend. I just picked up the samsung evo select blue for my fire hd 10 let’s see how long this one will last.

I use the Samsung 128gb EVO Plus on my pi, my Odroid Go Advance and another on my phone. They are reliable. Better to pay a few dollars more for Samsung then have data loss. I still keep great backups game Saves, configs etc. and of course image backups of the sd card I do once in a while.

Hi! Hoping you can help (anybody?) or point me to some help! I have a Pi400, and had great success using Rpi’s Imager to write ArcPunx images to MicroSD. Now I’m getting errors on most, even using Samsung Evo Plus and Selects from 32-128+GB images. Did hours of searching, told police couldn’t exceed FAT32 (though other 128-256GB Samsung/Kingston SDHC AND SDXC bought from Best Buy (not Ali), and making no progress. I see SD Formatter lists yours as SDXC (I think) over 32GB, and your images work without having to mess with partitions/allocation amounts. You even seem to use Windows disc imager and get working pi chips! I get failed formats, failed verifications (“card contents do not match source”), pi boot crashes, once saying I needed to update my updated pi400… losing what thinning hair I have left. 3 failed writes from buying preloaded/tested cards online. What am I doing wrong? Shouldn’t a brand new, legit 64-256GB card pulled out of factory packaging from Walmart or Best Buy and using Pi Imager to select and write an image work? So confused! Glad I kept several working chips w/most of what I want on them, but this went from smooth as butter to Jiff Extra Crunchy fast. Any help or links would be hugely appreciated! Cheers!

I have a 128GB EVO Select, can say it is a very nice micro sd card, a lot o space for smartphone, and the speed is really good compared to the shit i had from sandisk. LOL

The new one is rated for A2 application performance. You should test the write and read IOPS of the two. Maybe the new one is faster for running software with it

Will the Microcenter 512Gb fit a 512Gb image or is it cutting it too close? (you mentioned the Microcenter card clocks in a bit lower than other 512 cards in actual usable space)

I would go with under your cards max capacity 512gb can take along time to write and if your making it a retropie you may want to be able to save games.

I have always been perplexed With the blazing fast speed claims on these cards and how real users are supposed to benefit? None of them read or write faster than 30mbs so how do we benefit as a end user? I watched many videos and to be honest it all looks like a sham LOL

For the pi you don't need that much but for a drone recording in 4k or faster bus speeds you can take advantage

@@drewtalks I have watched many videos with pros showing the cards in comparison and none of it mattered unless you bought a card that had data Connectors On both sides and those gave some overall pc performance but not much over the standard cards.

interesting video. I stick with Samsung for the reliability. When it comes to flash storage in SD cards, I dont trust them. Make sure you have a backup on your HDD and buy a good card. Don't try to save a few dollars

I have never had any name brand flash memory usb stick or micro sd card go bad. I still have pny and sony 128mb usb sticks that still work.
