Remember those Saturday evening shows hosted by Cliff Richard? The New Seekers featured on each one(that I saw around 1971,1972) but when they played Beautiful People, led by Eve, l fell in love with a New band! These brought such comfort and happiness...truely Beautiful people indeed.
I had only seen this clip fairly recently living in Australia when TNS were big in UK missed out in seeing them now I have the Internet and an IPhone can catch up with all I had.missed out on it's great and met many new friends and fans of TNS on FB xox 💙
The new seekers were an outstanding act with a string of great pop singles . Looking back I think light entertainment shows helped for cabaret booking for many artists and summer season variety work.Bur it damages a serious record career.it happened that was for cilla black and Lulu and Shirley Bassey only cliff Richard managed to survive how own TV show and continue with a successful string of pop single chart hits
In all seriousness, I believe this was the first sign Peter was becoming disillusioned with group life. He was the best musician in the band - as Lyn Paul herself has acknowledged - and a talented songwriter, but he could not handle choreography. I strongly suspect he was unhappy with the direction in which the NS were being steered at that stage in their career; only 7 months later, he would be out of the band.. He deserved to become Australia's Neil Young - but ended up on the pub rock circuit. RIP Pete.
