Appreacite the review sir! I'm looking at the Blue flare RF mount 35mm with a 1.6X expander to get 2X Anamorphic on the R5C. The carbon fibre light weight design looks more appealing for gimbal use on the RS2 compared to the standard sizes. Overall I believe Sirui will make a full set as a package deal but for now, I'll buy 1.
Hello..was looking into anamorphic lenses to experiment with my photography..notice the name labels "Venus" and "Saturn" lenses?..what is the differences between them?..and what does the "1.25 x Anamorphic Adapter do? to the lens/image?..thank you
How do you export your videos?? I've never seen a video this sharp on RU-vid and I watch TONS of lens reviews and things shot on 6k and above. They all seem pretty capped out on RU-vid though. Please share how you get this clarity!
Mark, would you say it would be fun shooting talking head videos on this? I have a small studio space (11x11) and would be great to “enlarge” it on an anamorphic lens like this. Thoughts?
I tested it and sent it back for the following reasons: close focus limit 90cm (I knew before buying) Image stabilization doesn't work with this lens (I didn't know and nobody talks about it) manual focus (I knew that too) Overall a great lens, but the sum of the disadvantages didn't convince me.
Cinema lenses are like that for a reason. Auto-focus sucks balls in video on nearly every camera and smoothly pulling precise focus is much harder, if not impossible, without doing it manually. Image stabilization reduces the useable sensor area. Sounds like you don't like cinema lenses as a whole. Just stick with photographic lenses if you want all those things.
@@yargnad manual focus isn't the problem, but in addition, non-working IBIS (looks horrible) and minimum focusing distance were too many compromises. and yes, I'll stick with photographic lenses until focus distance is acceptable and the IBIS works.
@@vanair, I've been hearing of micro-jitter due to the size and weight, but the majority of 'influencers' leave out critical information so it's less review and more sales pitch.
Will this lens work in a Canon R7?? I just stumbled on this video looking for an entry anamorphic lens and the footage you showed looked amazing! The manual focus is a bit intimidating but the lens looks worth it
Yeah, it looks like he is not shooting in 24 fps... It's personal taste, but I think not using 24fps detracts from "cinematic" feel of the footage, hence why bother with an anamorphic lens in the first place?
i just got this lens for my canon R7 but when i put it on my camera doesn't let me take photo OR video. When i hit record or try to take a photo it simply doesn't do anything.. Is there something i'm missing or a way i can fix this?
Hi! Urgent question if anyone can help me. I would like to get the Sirui 35mm F1.8 anamorphic lens 1,33 APS-C but I have the impression that it exists only in 4/3 mount. On my side I have a Sony A6000 so I need an E-mount (Sony). On the official website when I select sony mount it adds an extra adapter ring to mount on the lens which remains a 4/3. Will I have any loss ? Also is it still interesting to choose this lens with my camera ?
No there are other versions that are 1.33 that are made for full frame too. The 35mm MFT version be used on Sony E, Nikon Z and RF mounts with a screw in adapter.
@@kaeanupam1671 Feel like this is the problem with RU-vid content creators making content with this lens or any anamorphic lens in that sense. Most these people never even shoot manual/ focus on cinematography over videography - the footage itself doesn't show the potential of the lens, the exposure of the shots, the composition, the focusing, the color grading - doesn't do the lens justice (or what's possible with it) This footage except for flares doesn't show anything of anamorphic character. It is a shame. Wish someone would just make a video with a 30-60 cinematic sequence in the intro, then go over the lens instead of these watered down product reviews.
JJ Abrams ruins everything he touches. I can't stand the lens flare streaks at all. The mini Hawk hybrid lenses solve almost all my gripes about anamorphics, but they're out of my budget. Can't wait for Sirui or some other budget-minded company to bring these solutions to modestly priced lenses.
Stay away from this company their customer service is bad they do not respond to you. They do not ship orders properly. Do not listen to these paid RU-vidrs. I am a customer who ordered from them and was treated like trash.
Anamorphics lenses are not meant to be clinical, even though Sirui lenses tend to be the sharpest and cleanest. Personally, I want a "dirty me up" filter for lenses
