American gymnast Suni Lee is working on a new uneven bars release that is not yet featured in the Code of Points: commonly known as a Full-Twisting Jaeger, it consists a swing backward to a salto forward laid-out with a full twist to hang on the high bar.

I'm just so happy to see her back in training and seemingly doing so well. It's been a long road for her with her kidney disease and all.

It's remarkable to think her very body was working against her not too long ago and has an incurable illness and yet she's still here showing up working out and being her best. She's my spirit animal this year. You go girl I'm rooting for you ❤

After her health issues, shes not only back at her previous difficulty but pushing the limit. Theres nothing else like her bar work. I love her combinations and connections as well. Always rooting for her ❤

and people were counting her out… i mean she’s the best ub worker that usa ever had( besides nastia, but suni has more potential) and definitely the second best on balance beam since 2019. she doesn’t even need to compete aa to be on the team

I agree. Vault is the least crucial event for her due to USA array of Cheng’s and DTYs but I heard that she has trained a DTY last year. Haven’t heard anything about FX

@@ansonpangfor floor, she's trained a chusovitina and moors, but we dk if she'll add it into her routine or not

@@murasakino101Suni needs to concentrate on doing two very good routines, one on bars and one on beam to make the team. Adding a competitive floor routine in the mix might be too much for her body to handle and I honestly don't think she needs to in order to make the team.

@@aliciamcdonald7105 I fully agree. I was so scared for her when she did beam at classics(or championships?) So I don't think she should push herself too much by doing the AA. The US is ok for floor, but bars is always needed. If she can hit a bar routine safely, she'll most likely be on the team for sure

@@txtrophycub what are you talking about? I’m only trying to say that the skill should be worth an H since a layout without any twists is an F. Giving the skill a g rating is too low for what it’s worth. Maybe Try reading a comment properly before attacking others for nothing

I hope it happens! She's too amazing on UB to not have a skill named after her. The real challenge is whether she'll be able to connect out of it, because if she just does the skill by itself, her routine overall wouldn't get a huge boost in D score compared to an easier E or F release with connection.

Considering the fact that Suni has been so great at connecting difficult releases in the past, I think she could definitely connect this to another skill if she tried

Let’s be honest.. if Simone comes back, Suni will likely get 2nd. Her scores will probably still be above everyone but Simone’s, even without a huge connection boost, so why *not* go for an eponymous skill? It might be one of her last chances. I hope she goes for it! 🙌

I think Shilese is strong competition but I need to see what upgrades she’s bringing to 2024 season. She can go 15 on bars, 14.3 on beam and maybe finally break 14 on floor if she upgrades the full in and gets her turns together

@@ansonpangwith Suni hopefully coming back, shilese will definitely have to upgrade her bars to be able to medal at the Olympics. She was training a stalder nabieva so I hope it gets added into her routine. The bar finals will be SO exciting this year if everyone brings their A game 😆

The piked version would probably (?) get a G, so the layout version would make sense at H

the torque from the full twist will make it very difficult to maintain a layout shape. But i think that will just be an execution deduction and there will be no such thing as a 1/1 piked Jaeger, just like how there's no such thing as a 1/1 piked Gienger; if you attempt the Def and catch it then its credited as a Def which by definition is laid out

What a wonderful skill. Suni is such an amazing athlete. I am worried about her chances of making it to the Olympics in Paris since she did not go to worlds last year.

I hope they don’t pull what they did to Biles. “It’s too dangerous.” Give the skill the deserved points. Obviously the skill is obtainable with training, practice and dedication. Hope Suni gets this skill named after her.

This is incredible but also makes me kind of nervous. I'm happy that she's trying new skills, but big releases can also have big deductions and it's gonna be hard to get that cleaned up enough to use. I say debut it at a smaller meet, get it named after you, but stick to your clean, precise routines for the Olympics!

Should be a G or H, as a move receives a 0.1 bump up for each half twist, considering the difficulty it may even be an H....

Which would make sense, because who wants to do a skill that’s not in the CoP, and you actually complete the one you didn’t submit vs the one you did, then you don’t get anything named after you. Man, that would suck big time.

Surely it will be H at least. The layout Jaeger is F, theoretically adding a half twist will make it G, so a full twist will make it H

@@leykimayri the stalder Nabieva is G, adding a 1/2 twist would make it H. The Derwael 2 was H but was downgraded to G, due to the Nabieva itself going from G to F. There is no G cap on UB

The video shows her training this with the low bar present (though possibly with the distance between the bars set extra far). I see your point though, that with the presence of the low bar in a normal distance it will be very difficult to generate enough swing for this skill

Different disciplines, different Codes, different moves. Men don’t perform on the uneven bars.

@@gymnasticsmasterclass Of course I know men don't compete on UB,. Men and women both perform geingers, right? Why would the men's move be named the Winkler-Pogorelev and the woman's move the Lee if moves like the geinger are named the same for both genders?

Back in the 70-80s, the FIG “imported” some of the names from MAG to WAG, like the Gienger, Jaeger… But they haven’t done that in like 30 years. I don’t get their logic tbh
