I say this very rarely. But this song is a killer. Vocals, lyrics, instrumentation, production. Every aspect is spot on. The song has so much energy and passion. Elevating. It makes my heart race.

I love Within Temptation. I will always love their older stuff but I really do like their newer material. This song has been stuck in my head since it was released. Sharon still has it....of course she does she is a goddess.

I’m a big WT fan and I love the changes in their styles. People change, so the music will change too. They are not that symphonic metal band anymore, but still have the that same feeling to me❤️

And to answer your question.... yes I like the new style. They evolved their sound with each album they released. They started to put more focus on electronic elements in the Hydra album then they went more electronic with the album Resistance ...which i absolutely love ( every song is great on that album ). And the two new singles they recently released is much the same. It’s good stuff and I’m glad they evolve their sound to bring us something new.

Reminds me of their albums "The Unforgiving" and "Heart of Everything". First impression was love. Keep finding more to enjoy each time I hear it! .......next song "Dangerous" feat. Howard Jones (Killswitch Engage)? or "And We Run" feat. Xibit - a brilliant fusion of rap and metal!

Hi, thanks for your video ! I’m a Within Temptation since 2005 now. I have to say that they evolved a lot in their style but it always sounds like WT ! This song is very powerful to me, love the lyrics and the topic of those. The music is tough and nice at the same time thanks to the keyboards. I don't have problems with different styles but its not a song i directly fall in love with like it was with "Ice Queen", "Never Ending Story", "Angels", "Frozen" or even "Whole World is Watching" to list some of my favorites. There quite from differnt periods, but i guess the thing is that i'm in general more a fan of ballads or slower stuff. "Frozen" is still the one i heard the most and also really like the official video, watched that also 100s of times 😍

Their latest album, Resist, from 2019, actually went on that direction: urban-industrial-electronic-metal, with perfect clear mixing and a very downtuned sound... It means they’re always reinventing themselves and keeping their music relevant. It’s a perfect album, every song sound like a single

WT started evolving and taking new directions 9 years ago when Unforgiven came out. There's a song called Sinead on that album that is more pop influenced and that album really felt like they were taking short steps away from the pure symphonic metal scene and bringing in new elements. I've been on board and this is still my second most favorite band (first being Evanescence) cause they defined my taste back when I started listening to music 12 years ago. Now this song is absolutely wonderful! It has elements from Hydra, Unforgiven AND a little bit of The Heart of Everything, which is why I loved this song so much. I guess there were influences from Resist, but tbh I need to go over that album again cause I was in a "non-metal" phase not too long ago and kinda dismissed it. If this is the direction they take on the next album it's gonna be amazing!!

WT never 'sounds like them' unless you truly listen. Many of their songs need time to relate. I can remember when Ice Queen was an 'also song.' Now it's a favorite. This one works early for me.

WT is walking away slowly but surley from the so called 'symphonic metal' , to explore new paths. That is not a bad thing if you do it properly. I think they have done a very good job with this new direction, I like it as I did their previous song 'Entertain You'. That song became quite popular so they have chosen the right path it seems , a lot of people like it. And yes some people will jump of the WT train but also new ones get on board. Can't please the whole world. They wil release one more song after this one as the plan was to release three ' stand alone singles' Sharon said in an interview to Kerrang!

It's an amazing song and the direction they are going in is also kick ass. Just a slight note I have, during live shows I noticed that Sharon struggles a bit singing this new style. If you listen to here live, during the same concert, singing a song from Resist and song from The Silent Force for example, you could clearly see the difference, how she's more comfortable singing the old style and a bit out of tune in the new style. But I have no problem with that. And their new music is amazing.

That's true. Sharon always need more time to be able to sing the new style without problems... I noticed that on The unforgiving tour. Now she can sing very well that songs, but it took some time. By the way, she always sing almost perfect the songs from The heart of everything and before.

for me, as long as a rock band is still a rock band I am happy with any sounds and elements added to their music. Electronic sounds only become a problem for me when bands start to sound more like a pop band with rock elements than a rock band with pop elements

This is more like it for Within Temptation This song sounds like a mix between the old WT and the WT now a days but they have won my heart again and so 2020 has become a beautiful year in Music ... The rest can be forgotten.. Good to see you have goosebumps again...Enter was my first experience listening to them and i was blown away .. Still am blowin away and i love the ways they are going as music needs to be something that always change, always staying on the same routines will make you playing without spirit ... and makes you sound less interesting ... Enya has that for instance Very good singer but the albums are always build up more or less the same line ... and that sounds good but it makes me losing my interest ...

Please react to “Iron” or “Supernova” by Within Temptation. They’re all their newer stuff. I love their older songs, but also their bombastic, catchy and modern sound. You’re gonna like the 2 songs that I recommend.

Every album sounds different so fans had plenty of time to get used to always getting something else. I think that WT lost some of the "magic" somewhere along the way and I would prefer simphonic elements more than electronics but I still love what they create. If you like this style with electronics you'll enjoy their latest album Resist.

Kind of how I feel, but then I ask myself if the magic would still be alive, if they continued their symphonic stuff cause it may be overused. And then I see how much fun they have and just can't be mad. Oh, and at least in my case, the new music really growed on me.

Sharon's voice is immortal. The heart of everything is my all time favorite ablum. The video to the purge is out please react to it . It quite similar to stand my ground, especially with the opening dress. To be honest I miss the orchestraL background, and gothic doom sound. Either way within temptation still my favorite band.😍 🙆🏻‍♀

I still miss a little guitars and orchestra protagonism from the past albums, but I like electronic elements too. I confess that Resist was good but I'm not a great fan. Despite of that, I loved this song from the first time I heard it. I loved Sharon's vocals and I really loved the lyrics. It's a very deep song.

Best song of 2020 for me. I don't mind them trying new styles, doing the same over and over gets dull. That's why i don't listen to Nightwish anymore. Songs are good, band is good, singer is good but it sounds to me like more of the same and i don't need that.

I started out loving eurodance and techno and evolved into Symphonic metal over the past 10 years. I'm much more into rock these days but I've always said rock and dance have many similarities in regards to the high energy driving beat. This like you said is a combination of both and I love it. Honestly I love every Witihin Temptation album as they always try something new while staying generally the same band. I do wish they would do more songs with full choirs and symphany but then it would be the same old thing. Sharon herself did a song with the DJ Armin Van Buuren called "In and Out of Love." I really like Within Temptation and i listen them for many years but the last two albums are not my favorite, maybe i like a song or two but in the old albums i liked almost all if not all in some.. i cant say that they are the worst songs but its not for me.

I'll be honest "the purge" is a fantastic piece but I'm too attached to the old WT ones like "deceiver of fools" or "the promise" for me the best like many of that period. Sharon is amazing over time she has expressed power and kindness and she has disposed of her voice to her pleasure according to the piece to be interpreted. Today she seems to me to be more focused on vocalizing power and despite her current 49 years she always appears intact and brilliant. Unfortunately today her musical evolution is no longer aligned with my sensors and since "Don't pray for me" I have stopped following her and what makes the situation worse is the latest adoption of A.I. You're fine boy

The beginning was interesting, modernized. But then they blew it. They made it start and shift too fast into the classic within temptation vibe. It needed a bit more shifting until it finally openned up. I was hoping the rest of the song was more cyber-punkish as well, it feels like they tried to glue two songs, one was the intro the other one was slammed together and it is clearly within temptation classic style. They rushed it as far as I care. I'd still rather listen to Extra Terra than this new song. The out of rhythm vocals also don't match my taste. It's that the sound from the instrumental is too toned down, and the vocals are sang as if she was rushing them. It doesn't mix well enough for me. This is why I think the sound appears to be so crisp. Coz it seems like her voice is too high up in volume compared to the instrumentals... She should have remained in low tone voice for longer... and make some more mis-matching electronics in the start. Then it would feel more proper. But hey this is just my opinion and I bet I'm gonna be ignored and rage-hated by the fan-boys of within temptation lol
