Greetings! This video was primarily made to show off the new sonic boom audio effects in the DCS 2.7.9 Open beta, but It also is meant to show the perspective of an amateur video taken from the ground by an aviation enthusiast. I also used it to practice some cinematic shots and effects.

Absolutely spot on! Sounds fantastic. Reminds me of being out at Edwards AFB last year and the F-35s doing this high over the base. This is going to turn up the Aerobatics server like crazy

@@bestskateboreder i think you can do it from the persepctive of a ground vehicle by using one or other of the function keys then just look up or maybe you could eject and do like that but probbaly a more elegant solution like a free camera i dont know about

Vapor cones need the right conditions to form and have nothing to do with supersonic or transsonic flight.

Man this looks realistic as it can be, the sound its 99.999999999999999999% accurate and it matches the reality. Congrats and huge respect for DCS Developers Team

DCS is getting better and better. Keep it up, guys. I envy you guys being able to flight sim like this. I'm 70 and I wish I had this shit when I was starting to fly. Just imagine where you guys will be in another 20 years, I'm straight out jealous. My handle was Sandman.

F3 flyby used to sound better and more realistic imo. It had that knets right before the boom, and the boom was full of bass, not just engine exhaust. But these ones from ground and further away are very good and do have some bass and a double beat to it sometimes.

Wonderful video!! I really hope that they will improve the sound engine just for a bit. As a someone who spends 3 decades near the F-16, the need to improve the takeoff sound and also the sonic boom.

Reminds of when I was young and noise regulations weren’t as strict. Height of the Cold War and all. You’d see an F-16 pass over and think, “Hey, it doesn’t make any s…” and then “Blaaaaam!!!!”, “*blip* *glitch* …holy cr@p, wtf was that?”

Great tip! I do wonder if the person recording this wanted to go for the authentic camera feel, because that’s how you would have to track a jet in real life. Probs why the camera moves the way it does

Either reduce your settings in game when recording or check rendering settings. It's like watching a slide show! Nice video though, love the film grain - too many people making super clean videos these days

Does it still boom below Mach 1.0? I frequently hear the boom effect as low as 0.95 Mach.

These sounds really good. I have to wonder if they were spurred on by Flight Simulator for this one; their sonic boom on the F-18, especially on the exterior model, was very good. Although at different distances for flypasts DCS is back on top again, hands down.

Can you please share how you record so smoth video with nice shake of filming "from the hand"? Some pipeline and processing description. Do you only use post-processing or some plugins for DCS to grab the video with smooth camera panning? How the hand shake is added into this?

Biggest issue with "realism" with any of these sims is that they have infinite depth of field...everything is in focus all the time. If they could just put more realistic depth of field the level of realism and immersion would greatly improve

Depth of field only exists on cameras. Your eyes automatically focus on anything you're looking at. It literally makes zero sense to include that in a video game.
