My head cannon is that the week before, sonic wanted to race on foot but mario wouldn't let him, and they just argued about it, then on the day, sonic shows up like "oops, forgot my car, guess I'll just have to do it on foot" all sarcastically
I'm fairly certain Sonic elects to use a car / extreme gear in the racing games because he values the fair competition over the W. This is still funny.
Wow this is way better than the old mario kart wii mod. He doesn’t seem to awardly teeter around and he own custom animations. I love how they gave him his unleashed drift animation. Chefs kiss
I also had moments of "wait, this isn't a _Sonic_ game!" But also, charging a spin dash absolutely could have been used as the animation for revving your engine in place, like at the start of a race.
Thank you for showcasing my mod! Edit: For anyone seeing this in the future, I agree with most of your comments about animations he should have, but unfortunately I'm limited by what's hard-coded in MK8D. I've tried making a version over characters as they have a lot more animations, but ran into hard-coded issues there as well. Ultimately, this was the best solution.
Reminds me of the old flash animation of Sonic racing against Jet the Hawk. Jet knocks Sonic off his hoverboard and laughs thinking he's won, then Sonic starts running backwards faster than Jet can hover all while flipping him off.
2:59 I love how he literally skates when doing that Battle Mode 360° turn, just stands there, gets hit, and stands soulless looking at the camera like nothing ever happened. 😂

Perhaps the bullet bills model could be changed to the boost aura when using it (or maybe Super Sonic, like Sonic & SEGA All Stars Racing’s all star move).
Something I love about this mod - mostly about the choice in the VA they used lines from - Sonic *sounds* like he's having fun. Jason Griffith does a great job as Sonic, and like Penny from Snapcube says; "The character should be having as much fun as the player is."
I love that it’s Unleashed Sonic. My favourite voice, model, and animations all come from unleashed. (Some animations in generations I like as well though). This is way past cool, man!
something the creator should add that might be easier than new animations, make golden mario shadow i think it'd be very cool. the reason i think shadow should be playable instead of someone else is because both of them are hedgehogs
Nahhh hear me out on this: Green hill Ofc Rooftop run Windmill isle Quartz quadrant(stardust speedway and this would share the animal crossing feature but it’s past present good future and bad future and what makes quarts quadrant also interesting cuz it’s like coconut mall with the slow signs and fast signs thing) Stardust speedway Flying battery(would go hard) And more maybe I guess
this is like one of the best mods for mario kart ive ever seen. (btw if you can add tails flying his plane as a glider that would be really cool thanks
If you think about it, every game has almost their independent story and most Kart games seem to be just because it's fun to race, it seems almost like a meta joke where the characters actually win money as if they're actors of their own games I mean, Wario has a mountain, Daisy has a cruise, Rosalina has a planet, Waluigi has an entire giant pinball table lol
