I own a 4-story home In Socal and I am currently using 3 sets of sound bars including 1 for my pc. As much as I love sound bars for the clean look, receiver + speakers sound definitely WAY better than sound bars especially when it comes to watching Atmos contents. When you have a decent size room and have the speakers placed in the right positions especially having the Atmos speakers mounted on the ceiling, there is no sound bar can come close to the immersion and spacial feel that receiver+speakers offer. I wish there is sound bar allows users to add wireless speakers and subwoofer(s) in order to create a 7.2.2, 7.2.4, 9.1.2, 9.2.4...etc setup, that will be a game changer. My wife does not like wires in the house and that's the only reason why I no longer use receiver+speakers.
It depends what you have room for. I think a receiver and speakers (2.1 or 3.1) are going to cost you a little more. I am happy enough with a soundbar. I have the Roku one that came with a subwoofer and two rear speakers. It does okay. I mean the receiver you mentioned is $900. I could spent 1/3 of that for my Roku setup and it sounds great. You can get cheaper Sony receivers too. I still have an STR-DH590 that I use to run speakers in my office.
Two years with the 1080 driving a pair of be 603s3, jamo s83 center and Cambridge Audio min22 rear. I love this receiver ❤❤ Hope the same quality on new models.
If you have the rs5 wireless surrounds with the AN1000, can you use the surround in zone 3 to play music just out of them? Presumably if you can do this, then you could put the wireless surrounds (temporarily) in an adjacent room for music when you're not watching a movie. Will this work?
I am totally blind. I have no vision whatsoever. I’ve bought a Sony receiver STR Dash K 700 from eBay without a remote. I don’t know if this item is Bluetooth. I was trying to hook up my Alexa to it. I also hooked up five speakers with speaker wire I cannot even change, FM and a.m. stations for some reason there are no tuning buttons to go up or down through the stations. I hope I just did not waste my money. Please help me. I am from Fort Worth Texas. Thank you.

I did an experiment recently on my Bravia and Yamaha receiver. I've been having millisecond audio video sync issue mostly when I play a bluray movie. I muted the receiver and turned up the tv volume and it was prefect from what I can tell. I wonder why the sync issue with my receiver? Is it the age of the receiver and it's outdated tech compared to todays tvs? Thoughts?
@@dlbsyst I'd love to hear your impressions on this receiver. I plan on buying it to go with my Klipsch reference premier speakers. I'm very interested in it's power as how well it encompasses you in Atmos or Sony's 3d audio. Is it a big improvement over standard Atmos or audessey setups? I'm very interested to know if the HDMI outs use the same speaker setup or if zone 2 uses a different set. Thank you for your time.
hey im installing in-ceiling speakers in my house. four in the living room (for tv surround sound/music), one in kitchen and one or two in the backyard. my data closet is upstairs, am i going to be able to control music being played remotely

Does this have an editable EQ (10-12 band, etc...) like my Onkyo TX-NR6100? I like how it allows switching between auto eq, manual eq (presets), and Re-EQ. My Onkyo has been randomly turning off, so I'm probably returning it. It seems this one will work really well with my sony TV, even allowing me to use it as a center channel.
The question is, can we run Wireless sw5 Sub with the physical connections of 2 Subwoofers on the backside of the receiver simultaneously? will wireless SUB with with those 2 physical connections of subwoofers?
Does the STR-AN1000 have a 360 spatial audio mapping like the Sony HT-A9? Will it give a pseudo atmos effect from non-Atmos source (using height effects). Thanks and I hope this question is fairly clear. Is the Yapau setup from Yamaha even comparable to this?

I have a Control4 system installed and am upgrading my receiver to the STR-AN1000. The microphone cord is very short.. How would you set this up if the receiver is in an equipment bay 30 feet away from the listening room?
Hmmm, hadn’t thought about that. I imagine you can buy a long extension cable for that specific plug. I’m not sure if the exact specs of the cable, but there’s definitely an extension cable you can buy on Amazon or somewhere to accomplish this.
Why the don't just make a receiver without amplifier and 2 or 4 channel amplifiers and wireless speakers for surrounds. That would be much better option. You just add to your home theater later on.
@@hyperactivetendencies7054 yep, you could call it that. But normally processors are for studios, not for home and those prices are quite high. Also having already amplifier for a front channels and center is reasonable, because you still need cables for those (does no matter if it is power or amplified signal)
That’s going to depend on what speakers you are using as the front channels. Having an actual center channel will help a bit more with dialogue (the HT-A9 phantom center is surprisingly good tho). Downside with the AN1000 is that you don’t get front and rear height channels, you can one get front height or rear height, not both. If you want a super easy setup process and something stylish, the A9 is an easy choice.
@@JonahMatthes it means that you can connect wireless speakers to this receiver in conjunction with other speakers, I understood you correctly, I want to combine sa-rs5 speakers together with speakers from another manufacturer in the future
Once the novelty wears off that's where one will normally start to become aware of all the unwanted sounds. For one to have a perfectly quiet room I would highly recommend shielded speaker cables. They don't necessarily have to be expensive just just so long as they're shielded. You'll only end up doing it again, if not you're probably just used to having your room Sound full of electricity! What we call in the industry a high noise floor!
Jonah, Can you please tell me IF I bought the AN1000 to replace my present Denon S760H AVR - [5.1.2] - then connect up "S" Cable between the Sony AVR and my Sony OLED A80K "S" to enable use of the TV's Screen Speakers as Center will Center Channel Signals still also to to my present Center Channel Speaker at the same time? Sony does not seem to share anything like this in it's manual. TKS
Hi, how does the wired setup compare to the hta9. I have the a9 which I like but clarity a little underwhelming. I was thinking of selling and going the wired receiver route. Curious if the change is worth the cost. Thanks
A proper wired setup with good speakers is going to beat any soundbar or system like the HT-A9 99% of the time. If you're able to do a proper wired setup, then that's the best route to go, it just won't be convenient at all.

Did the AN1000 you were sent happen to make a loud “Thunk” noise like someone flicking the metal shell with their finger during initial power up of this model? 7 out of 10 times my AN1000 makes that loud “thunk” metal sound that echos from the receive during power up. This isn’t the normal clicks a relay makes during power up. When that noise isn’t present I just get a very low click noise during power up like most any other receiver.
I have a Sony 550 downstairs and a Sony 790 upstairs. They both make that sound. I believe the sound is mechanical relays opening or closing. It is normal operation.
@@Please_Snap_Out_Of_It thanks for letting me know! I’ve had a few Sony receivers before hand, from lower to very upper end models. I’ve never had relays make that LOUD of a noise where metal was vibrating from it. I ended up returning it just in case. The older Sony models I had did make mechanical relay clicks but barely audible.
@@DrakonR I totally agree if the dn1080 was only a year or two old and I get what u r saying but imagine Samsung only just now in 2023 releasing the galaxy S9 after 6 years of selling a galaxy S8 which also came out in 2017. There should have been way more improvements in this lineup. I mean the display still looks like a bedside clock from the 80s..
