That design looks a lot more well thought out and tied together than the Galaxy X ever did. I'd lose the little pew pew cannons next to the bridge but aside from those it's a great concept. Kudos to the creator.
Yeah, they kind of serve the same purpose as the Phaser Lance. So pick one. Either use the extra budget to optimize the lance, or scrap the lance and put a cluster of pulse phaser emitters in an aggro forward arc and feed them directly off of warp power like the USS Pimp Hand... I mean Defiant.
Honestly wish those had been made cannon in Picard alongside the newer excelsior mark 2. Although I'm sure most of the sovereign's were mostly obliterated by then
That ship is fracking gorgeous and lethal. Now Admiral Picard has an answer to General Picard. Time for the showdown. Sovereign S X vs The World Razer.
😲Great Scott Admiral.. love the ship.. wow.. love the look and power of the ship.. those phasers are nice but that lance.. wow long sustained blast more than the Galaxy X. crikey for sure..😲love the '' oooh what's this'' and '' ooh Shhhinzon'' messed up , nice save lol. that was a wicked battle. and the ship is remarkable.. The XXX photons.. hmm need to be legal age to see them lol. 😍 MSR-1701 made an amazing ship.. wow love the battle Admiral..! 😊🖖
I feel like everyone gets the spinal lance wrong. This one lasts waaaaay too long, but also is weak. It should resemble a stronger version of the canon galaxy x in all good things. That Galaxy x fired two short bursts of the spinal lance and it put two holes straight into the enemy ship.
I made a drawing of my iteration of this class of federation star ship. It had four warp nacells instead of three like an x wing fighter or the Prometheus class. It too had phaser cannons/emitters. My drawing has a blue deflector dish and blue buzzard collectors.
It's funny how the torpedo launcher/captains yacht has been moved back, but now blocked by the phaser lance... technically its line of sight is F-d up. Interesting ship thought.
9.5 out of 10. The cannons next to the bridge really serve no purpose, especially with a phaser lance, and the ship would look a lot more streamlined without them.
So this is what Geordi been doing with the Enterprise E after that thing that was not Worf's fault. One issue with it though, it would be pretty hard to fire quantum torpedoes with the spinal lance in front of the launcher.
Fun Fact: Gene originally wanted nacelles to always come in pairs (no odd numbers) and have nothing but empty space between them. He envisioned that the nacelles were arching an energy field between each other to create the warp bubble. He wanted to show this in the first movie as a colorful aurora, but it was outside the budget. I learned this from the cast commentary on the first movie. I guess the kit-bashers never got that memo 🤗
that compact 3 nacelles design ABSOLUTLY feels like the FASTEST ship in the fleet. This is a Battlecruiser or Fast Battleship. Tons of Firepower and Speed in a smaller package then a Battleship.
You should do the taskforce and Enterprise E vs that new scimitar. I am sure there is details of what the ships were in the task force! Would be interesting to see if they can take it down!
The Scimitar and the Kerchan Warbird were so powerful, that the Federation needed to create something like Sovereign S X class. This was one thing that the Star Trek Novel universe never dealt with.
I really like it, I think it's totally awesome and a damn good looking ship it reminds me of the old Dreadnought class 👍👍👍 thanks for sharing this live long and prosper 🖖🖖
Borg Queen: "YOU Picard will be assimilated!!!" Picard: "Oh this shit again? Alright, I think you know the routine this time, but what you don't seem to realize is that this is Starfleet's best and most devastating starship ever fielded. I invite you "your majesty" to examine us with a bit more alacrity and CAREFULLY consider your options". Imperial Picard: "Weapons!!!! Fire at will!!! Miss again and it is the booth for you Commander Riker!! All the while Security Officer Deanna Troi looks at Riker with a mixture of amusement, and anticipation. Deanna Troi: "Ahh the Imperial Sovereign X Class, so many more Agony Booth, so many more torturers, and me in charge of them all!!" Careful Imzadi! Thought Deanna to Riker, You know how much I savor a torture session when Picard is torturing you!."
I want some of these now too..but, I like the look of 4..nacelles even better. --Not at all saying is anything less than supercool..!!..because it is awesome.!..but I do like both..even numbers..and simetricallity. Not that I'd thumb my nose at a pretty girl with a set of 3..."forward..fulfillments"?..
My issue with the design is the top nacelle, it has no direct connection to the engineering hull and so the plasma conduits would have to run to the Port and Starboard nacelles first and then to the Dorsal nacelle.....seems inefficient to do it this way - all I would change is add a direct pylon to the hull - having the nacelles connected this way does make it harder to cut off warp nacelles with weapons fire ;)
against a federation task force... it really depends on the task force makeup... this is 2379 so 4 years after the dominion war. against older ships, miranda's a galaxy or excelcer it would have wiped the floor. but now, federation task forces were like 3-4 Defiant classes, a pair of steam runners, a pair of sabers, and an Akria... with the war varient of the Galaxy class as the flag.
Just need to put the sensor/weapons pod from the OG Titan underneath her, and supersize the phaser lance to turn her into the Sovereign S X From Hell!! Then we might have a new king!!
Badger I think you and I are remembering Nemesis differently. I don’t think they used Quantum torpedos at all in that movie. I could be mistaken though.
They did, when Troi used her Betazoid powers to get in the Vice Roy's head. She moved Worf's hand over the controls and said "NOW". I've seen that movie too many times 😂
Hahaha what is this monstrosity, it looks awesome, tbh though I kinda wish the scimitar ingame actually fired it’s 52 cannons, though I realize no ship would be able to last more than a min against it if it did, though their shields are actually fairly weak, especially compared to its immense firepower
Truly neat idea: Galaxy-X from hell "lite," crossed with a Sovereign Dreadnought. Great torpedo arsenal and superb maneuverability. Why not put it against the Kyoto?
The ship design is in keeping with the Galaxy X and the modeller has done a good job to fit that design into a Sovereign aesthetic but to my personal taste, it's hideous. I'm not a fan of the Galaxy X to begin with and this is even worse because it breaks up the lines of the sleek Sovereign.
I'm neutral on the nacelles being flipped over and moved forward, I think maybe it would look a bit better if those 2 were in the usual position but it's OK. The 3rd nacelle however should just have a central strut like on the Galaxy X. I could even see it being attached to the saucer section above the shuttle bay. Configuration of nacelles aside, very cool ship. Considering how powerful it is just dominating the scimitar, and given the Sovereign class was already the fastest ship in starfleet and probably faster than anything the dominion or cardassians had, and this is no doubt a good bit faster than a stock sovereign, can you imagine if starfleet had even a half dozen of these ships during the war? Imagine doing Martok's little "cavalry run" with this kind of speed and firepower. In fact, with that in mind, how about taking like 3 of these up against a large dominion fleet?
PROBLEM: these ships have how many phaser banks/strips again? Why do only 3 at most fire at any given time? Back when they all had to be painted in by hand in post it made sense. But this is a video game; there should be 12+ phaser beams on screen at any given time.
I like the design but wouldn't the upper arches for the 3rd nacelles ger in the way of the impulse engines discharge wake...or is that just my inner engineer noticing this??
you know, the more i think about it, the more i think the federation were... uncreative. In reality, the Galaxy class was probably the best class for war... picture... building saucer sections in different configurations. a carrier saucer section, with extra hanger space... a battleship saucer section, no labs, all extra's stripped out, extra weapons placements turreted torpedo launchers, extra torpedo magazines, additional fusion reactors, additional phaser banks, and maybe a marine transport option with additional systems for planetary bombardments, command and control and such for marines. Then Swap out engine sections as needed. so as hostilities broke out, battleship saucers could be quickly made, families could be disembarked and the saucers switched out. at the end of a "war" the saucers could be mothballed, and the diplomatic saucers connected. Now this would also allow them to, during the battle, swap out saucers for mission specifics... they are landing ground troops, 1 galaxy class could carry the carrier or marine saucers... they need carriers, swap the carrier saucer. this would also allow them to build engineering sections apart from the saucer... and quickly mate with stockpiled saucers... streamlining the building process.
leapfrog warfare... a group of galaxies warp in to battle around a planet, once the battle is done, 1 carrier and 1-2 marine saucers are... dropped off, the engineering hulls then fly pack to pick up new saucers... battle saucers left in orbit, still able to maneuver at sublight, providing defensive installation until proper planetary defenses can be erected... the "valuable" warp hulls changing rolls as needed.
...I mean, the Scimitar was literally beaten by just three ships, and the other two really just distracted it for a couple minutes. Like why do people seem to always forget that?
I want to see what the Galaxy X would make of the Sovereign S X. I mean, I know who's winning, I just wonder how quickly. The design is pretty good I think. I love the spinal phaser lance, it seems to fit the Sovereign saucer much better than the lance on the Galaxy X did.
