Seriously, how many other manufacturers interviews have the top guy in their videos, and how many of them seem as passionate and knowledgeable as Eric? Not many. Let's me feel great about supporting Spyderco.
@@Squatch-sj3vg The warranty covers disassembly, as long as it's reassembled correctly, I just checked their site. I really don't think he's trying to get people to void their warranties, not good business.
I'm assuming you're just pulling all our legs but if you weren't this is Eric Glesser, son of Spyderco founder Sal Glesser, and current owner of Spyderco since his dad retired. His maker's mark is on the PM2, It's the cursive "E" that ends in the arrow.
Me too. I don't usually do multiples of the same knife and have a dealer exclusive Native Chief in XHP but man, I really like their SPY-27 and what they can do with FRN.
Great seeing how Eric is running the company. He is a real knife and steel nerd and so passionate about his knives. That's one of the things I love about Spyderco.
I love Spydercos.I just wish they would use screws instead of rivets on there lightweight knives. The tenacious is a great knife and I'm glad there making it in m4.
Spyderco doesn't use rivets for their lightweight models anymore. For example, the newer (built more recently) Spyderco Manix LW knives come with screws.
Tenacious I’m M4 is cool News I gotta get one before they go. I didn’t realize how good at everything the tenacious was til I got one. Easy cutting in any scenario and designed in a way where even dull it still can pierce and cut roughly
I'm about a month in working with my k390 warncliff delica. Use it everyday at a warehouse and still going. Also dragged the tip on concrete floors laying walkway tape and still slicey and pokey. I can usually wear out a Stanley Fatmax razor in less than a week so k390 has really impressed me.
@lordaleksandre It's almost unreal how solid the handle construction is on the PS 2 for having no liners. The slim nature of the shape lends itself to linerless construction, especially considering how good Spyderco's FRN is. Great knife and as big as the blade is, I barely notice I'm carrying it even in light summer material.
Did Eric mention when the Lil’ Temperance 3 Light Weight in K390 is going to be shipping to KnifeCenter?? Got one on preorder and can’t wait to have it in hand! Thank you
My favorite brand and honestly the only brand knife I may ever buy unless something that really peaks my interest come up. There’s something very special about the brand. They’re tools first and foremost and that philosophy doesn’t stand as true with any other brand
It must be great to be Eric or Sal Glasser. You go all around the world and wherever you go, you're going to bump into people who know, carry and love your knives. I gotta say though, much as I love them prices have spiralled out of control. It's hard to get your head around spending £150 for a plastic handled knife (the cost of a Delica in K390 in the UK).
I keep on hoping that Spyderco will show the Lil Native lightweight lockback that they teased with Knifecenter before. Really hope that's in the works.
Hey DCA, 2 part question, I was looking for a trailing point knife with full serrations (because I am ridiculous) I can't find any. Do you think it would be worth trying to put serrations into an existing knife? Or would it be better to find one already ground the way I want?
@knifecenter sweet! That will be my next purchase. I was thinking maybe the Spyderco Matriarch, but the shape wasn't really what I wanted. This Cold steel has better blade steel, and the silhouette I want. Thank you for your help.
can we get a knife center exclusive of the stretch 2xl in cru-wear? give seth an exclusive of the knife he praises so much, like they did with the badlands vegabond for DCA
One of my favorites in my knife roll is my Spyderco Smallfly 2! I carry it all the time. Even with the price point, it's definitely a forever knife! 😎 my other 🕷 is a Rock Jumper, it's also fantastic, I absolutely love the scales but I'm not a huge fan of the lock back.
1. I know that's not what it's designed for, but that Micro-jimbo looks like it will be an AMAZING utility/boxcutter! 2. I don't usually pay attention to sprint runs (I don't like getting my hopes up on a knife I can't get), but that Stretch is freaking beautiful!
Spyderco really needs to ditch thier clips. Please give us a deep pocket on the military 2 and all others. I always have to buy a 3 party Clip when ever I buy a Spyderco
Deep carry clips make the knife take up more pocket space, make it harder to deploy the knife, and often create hotspots. Only advantage of deep carry is hiding knife better, with I don't care about. For most models it's better to leave deep carry to the aftermarket -- function over fashion. Spyderco could give people the option but they have stated they don't wanna put the third party companies out of business.
Love my Smock and would love to see a Sprint Run variant. As for these, I won't touch any of the lightweights that use rivets instead of normal t6 screws, I don't care what blade steel they are. If I can't take those cheap ass plastic scales off and put some custom Ti or CF or something else of my choice, then it's junk to me. Half the fun of collecting these knives and getting a decent/good blade steel is customizing the scales/clip/backspacer to make it unique to you. Riveted scales ruin any bit of that (unless you've going to drill them out, but who the hell wants to have to do that when you should just be able to unscrew them and switch)
This is really simple... those Spyderco's aren't for you, obviously. For ppl who actually use their knives as tools and care more about function, weight, etc, these knives may be right up their alley. There are plenty of companies pumping out the type of knives you're looking to "collect".
@@9thchamber499 collector's are aweful in this industry. They waste money on knives with premium steel without good heat treats. As long as they can fidget them they think its worth it.
If the prices keep going up yearly for no reason. Stop making the cheaper models in China, and bring'em all into the U.S and then i'll pay for it. Spyderco continuously have raised prices even before inflation was a demon that it is today. I'm willing to pay but it has to be made inside the USA.
surprised there is nothing in Magnacut. Keep looking at vids like this hoping to see a PM2 or Para 3 in Magnacut. Heard there might be a Paramilitary 2 "Salt" in magnacut.
The three screws holding my spiderco pocket clip have rusted and loosened up. Ive never once carried it since i bought it. Its just sat in the drawer till i can find the bit to tighten it... realy put a bad taste in my mouth
The native Chief in lightweight looks interesting. One of the few stainless options that I see. I live in a wet climate and and don't want to buy the non-stainless options. Spyderco, and the other knife companies, all seem to think we live in a desert 😉. Seriously guys, could you at least offer stainless something as an option with each of them? I know magna cut is hard to source right now, but your s30v etc are amazing.
Their whole salt line is great. Native 5 in magnacut is rolling out to stores now. Try and snag one. There is a prototype PM2 in magnacut as well. Waiting for that one myself
Most of their knives are offered in choices of steel. For example, the standard version of the LeafJumper is in VG10 stainless. They also have an entire "Salt" line that use ultra stainless steels.
Personal wouldn't mind a step back in steel choice to reduce price. Lets say a regular model with what ever "steel of the month" and one model with a standard buget steel. That budget steel would be something like d2, 14c28n, or even bd1. Often its the knife design NOT the vlade steel that gets me to buy a knife.
that’s not how spyderco works they’re literally essentially known for well built knives in awesome steels, not cheaper steels. they have a budget line and their delica/endura line, but all their flagship models are usually s30v or better
