Hello Ken thank you for sharing your bright emotions you understood everything as the author intended Start it for me (when compared with Rockwell) 0.69 - plate No. 3 (soft razors) 0.90 CC - plate No. 4 or No. 5 (medium aggressiveness) 0.90 ОС - plate No. 5 or No. 6 (medium aggressiveness) 1.18 - Rockwell doesn't have one. This is the level of Muehle R41 And with the aftershave you got to the point) my wife and I lived for five years in America, in Detroit MI. And we loved the smell of American Christmas and New Year. The smell was specially selected so as to remind us of this time) Thank you again for the fun and detailed review. For my part, I undertake obligations, from sending you for review all new models of razors of Homelike company. If you do not mind of course))) Regards, Vadim Omsk you made only one not serious mistake. Razors are not made in Moscow; they are all made in Omsk, Western Siberia )))
I bought a Russian Raketa watch as a young teenager and it stopped working properly after about a year. When I took it to a watch maker he said it wasn't even worth repairing since the quality was so bad. Though of course there's a difference between high quality and low quality Russian products. The watch looked cool as hell though, went to 24 instead of 12.
I am very glad that my friend Vadim, who created this razor, sent it to you. Glad you liked it too, just like DeJavu after shave lotion. This is the community.) I like to watch your reviews, they are always true and interesting. Many thanks, thumbs up as always.
Nicely done Ken💈💈 Just shows no matter where made, quality speaks volume. I have nothing against Russian folks, hell, they live in a tough place. I suppose they are just as passionate as we are about certain things. The razor looks great and obviously shaves great. Thanks bud for the review, I may just try to get one of these for the collection. In reality, it's a 6S or ATT only made in Mother Russia... Great shave and review. Nice watch, I just got a Seiko SRP777J1, Japanese made diver, excellent. Enjoy!
@Oleg Bauer Oleg, you are correct. I meant no disrespect to the folks at Homelike. Yes, they are meticulously made and that is why I included ATT also. Machined by hand or by machine is superior to metal injection manufacturing. I was simply trying to imply the shaving satisfaction result which the Rockwell 6S delivers. On all accounts, the Smart razor excells in construction and finish. Still trying to get one. Have a good day.
Great video and honest review Ken. I think a “blooper reel” would be funny. If I had my own it’d be me dropping things in my sink at 0500 cussing under my breath each time 😆 - Cheers!!!
Отличное видео, Кен. Подписан на Ваш канал. И всегда смотрю Вас с удовольствием. Спасибо :-) ("Great video, Ken. Subscribed to your channel. And I always watch you with pleasure. Thank :-) ")
Nice vid. It looks like a very respectable razor and in stainless steel too. I just got a Gamechanger. 84 and I'm very pleased. Very smooth and comfortable while efficient. I don't remember you doing a vid on the Gamechanger. 68 or .84.
Very nice razor, you can tell that’s a real good built razor. I like stuff made Germany also. Got a few knives from there. But I’m more of a Benchmade fan. Also I just got a Microtech UTX-85 OTF Tanto Satin finish blade. Boys and our toys🤪
Nice job and no burn. Very efficient. I said to Kevy the aftershave reminded me of Vosene shampoo. Do you remember that from way back when? A smell that would certainly clear the nostrils.
On a side note ken, know it's.probs quite far from you, but hope.you and the family are in safe areas from.these California fires, dreadful.stuff. stay safe.
Great shave. I discovered that there are Soviet knockoffs of vintage Gillettes that were made in the Cold War era. This was because American companies were not allowed to sell their products in the USSR so the Soviets had to make Gillette DE razor knockoffs. They come up once in a while on eBay, but when you snatch one, give it a whirl. It's getting interesting trying out Russian wet shaving products as DE razor shaves are going global
Great shave Ken. I figured you would like the .90 mm gap better than you would the .65 mm gap plate. .90 mm is the gap that the Edwin Jagger DE89 uses and the Gillette DE blades are made in Russia along with several others. I miss having the Mosin Nagant M91/30 rifle that I had. It was a beast of a rifle and made 1943. I forgot which arsenal the one I had was made at off hand.
Ken, I think you should give a tash a go. When you were soaping up, just before you did the lip, you can see. Would look more sofistecated than a goatie in my humble opinion.
Excellent presentation, thank you. Seems well built but a shortcoming is possibly the short thread - compared to, for example, Rockwell 6C and Feather AS-D2.
I had not yet heard of them but the quality of Russian made goods let's me know how great this razor is gonna be. Then, watched your video and when you said that it was excellent and well built, this may be one I purchase when I'm medically cleared to work again. Damn you Crohn's! Lol this was killer content, as always and I just want to say thank you! Ps. A surplus Mosin Nagant would've been pretty cool inside your shaving den. Right next to the surplus knife!
Ive got a Makarov Russian military pistol. Its a 9 by 18. Right above a 380 and right under a 9mm. Nice pistol, has very little kick. The ammo is the only thing I have trouble finding. In my area its nearly impossible to find.
Good shave Ken!!!! Denmark huh??? Would have never guessed. It's weird, I ordered 5, and 3 are coming on the 1st, 1 coming on the 2nd, and 1 coming on the 5th. I'm just so happy Gillette is finally, finally doing something for the wet shavers out there!!!
I knew Gillette was up to something when I discovered their parent company Proctor & Gamble bought back all of Gillette's previously owned blade manufacturing plants in Russia and Poland. They have obviously sussed out the future DE market and found it potentially very viable. Expect some great new razors from Gillette in the near future. Perhaps a new generation fat boy?
Once again really enjoy your videos, and thanks for the response to my questions. I do have one more. Do your know of anyone in the DE community that has ordered from the Russian web site for a razor, and if so what was their experience? Thanks in advance. Have a great day.
Why didn't you stick it out with the 0.69 mm plate, Ken? Cris at Another Cut Above used the START 0.69mm and wasn't disappointed. That could have been you. I want to combat a prejudice against users of low gap, low exposure razors. We're not beginners or cursed with sensitive skin. Nor are we indifferent to BBS. I'm now getting the closest shaves and fewest nicks ever with a 0.63mm gap, negative exposure razor. I chose it having gone on a blood thinner and decided I was not going to switch to a cartridge. I shave every day (as does Cris) and have enough dexterity to find a shaving angle and maintain it over my entire face. These traits are a better way to determine who should and shouldn't consider a low gap/low exposure razor. Me, I'm tough and precise enough to face the blade every day without needing time to recover, and I'll keep doing this blood thinner or no. If I want to do something risky, I'll sharpen a clam shell. That's what I've concluded.
But even as you gave up on it, you admitted it was doing the work. And how can you make a fair judgment if you don't see how it does in 3 passes? I am using the Tatara Masamune, and it's "milder" than the START 0.69 and is giving me daily BBS shaves. I might have an issue if I weren't a daily shaver, but that's not me. And I'm not a beginner or baby-faced. It takes a high skill level to control the angle. I think a novice might have trouble figuring it out. Nor do I nick more than average. Yes, I am now on a blood thinner, and that's what drove me to this extreme. But, having learned to shave in this zone with so little skin abuse, I'll surely stay there after I go off the medicine. I love your videos, Ken, but I wish there were more spokesmen for mild razors than just Mantic 59 and Cris at Another Cut Above. But be well, and keep up the good work!
Warren I the Merkur 34C is the mildest razor I own and it’s great. If I had a sharper blade in the Start razor it would have worked fine. I like to get 90% plus growth off in first pass. I usually cut myself on 2 or 3rd pass. I’ll use it with a Feather next time👍👍👍
Good idea. You may be pleasantly surprised. My Tatara Masamune came with 3 Feather blades, and after trying some other brands first. the best shaves I got were from a Feather. I've seen you and Cris at Another Cut Above shave with the START 0.69 and your reactions resemble mine to the Masamune. I don't mean to be too fanatical about mild razors, Ken, but I'm getting the closest shaves ever from my Masamune, and I've been at it for a long time. How long? So long that my go-to watch is an original purchase Accutron!
Does it say the razor is made in Moscow? The company is from Omsk which is 1400 miles from Moscow, in southwestern Siberia, but perhaps their production facility is in Moscow if that's what it says. *I just bring this up since you said "made in Moscow" at the beginning of your vid.
H H I actually cut the description from the original email I received . . I cut and paste that description from the email I received on the razor. I just made the edit to correct it. Thank you👍👍
Kensurfs hey don’t give me any funny ideas! I’m very happy with the 15 razors I have! FatBoy BlackBeauty Super 84 Merkur 37 C RedTip Flare tip Late 1940’s SuperSpeed Parker Variant Muhle R-41 Fatip Grande RazoRock SLOC RazoRock BlackHalk V2 NEW Short Comb Ball end tech Classic Samurai Shavette Slim Adjustable
If I were to add another razor or too I’d like to get the RazoRock GameChanger .84 opencomb , of corse there’s vintage Gillette’s I still haven’t owned yet and I would like to get the brave heart or the Apollo razor from Smart Helix
Thanks again for the response. But I will bet it won't take as long as it did with rockwell, I am a backer for the model t, it has been more than 3 years, and I still have not recieved the razor, ridiculous.
Bob Callender you had just reminded me. I ordered a Russian watch back in November 7 from Russia and still no watch. I just filed a complaint with PayPal
@@kensurfs that sounds like my experience with rockwell, I forgot about the razor many times over the years, and now with many people on RU-vid reviewing the model t it reminded me I had backed them, I finally got tired of waiting and bought from e bay, maybe sometime in the future I will get the one I paided for. Keep up the great videos.
Russians, its time to get them into the boat anyhow. Omsk in icecold Siberia, sufficient time to work in garages to produce pricecompetitive tools. Cheers fm the Lion City, Singapore+
@@kensurfs Absolutely! The plots Roger adhered to were lighthearted and brilliant imho. While Sean and Timothy also had a quick and comical wit, (unfortunately missing with Daniel imho), Moore could pull a hat trick like no other in a dubious & deadly situation. Who else could drive a submersible car, walk across the backs of hungry gators and parachute off a cliff while skiing?

But Ken, how does it compare to other razors? How does the smoothness of the shave compare Ken plz, I must know. Kevy said it was twice as smooth as some of the more popular razors like the Tatara Nodachi and the Karve, I must know how you feel Ken plzzzz. Ken PPPLLLZZZ.
I love the video. I ordered myself a box of Gillette Wilkinson Sword India blades and I ordered some Gillette Silver Blue Blades also. What do I need to know about those two blades? Are they good blades?
I would not get the Merkur 34c. It's not a bad razor but there are razors in it's category that are the same in mildness but are a bit more efficient. Here are my choices. Razorock Mission razor. A very nice razor cheaper than the 34c but is a good razor especially for beginners. My second choice would be the Rockwell 6c. It has 6 options from super mild to mid aggressive so with this razor as soon as you learn your technique you could just change the plate. My third choice would be a Razorock Gamechanger. 68 plate. Very nice razor all stainless steel as you better your technique you could get the .84 plate for more aggressive shave.
I’ve learnt during my years to never judge a blade without the razor. Sharp blades work great in mild razors. Duller/smoother blades work better in aggressive razors. Voskhod is a smooth blade and should be assessed in an aggressive razor.
