After the felling its the first bit of work for the new stihl 661 chainsaw, it has a 28" bar. Plenty of power for the bigger wood #stihl #firewood #chainsaw #ms661
I've been a Stihl man for forty plus years, currently running an 029 Super and a MS660. But I recently came across a Husqvarna 390XP and it has quickly become my big timber go to saw! Much smoother to run than the MS660, just my two cents.
This is literally my dream to find a tree like this to cut up, just purchased my first Stihl chainsaw gone for a ms 181(I'm not a tree surgeon) .Just need to some wood to cut now haha👍Thanks for the video.
Take care, always know where the upper front quadrant is going to be, before the cut and during the cut. As kickback can ruin your day. Always cut with a sharp chain, a blunt one will use more fuel, will take longer and is more hazardous. Wear appropriate PPE and enjoy your sawing.
Use a longer bar! Stand up and buck! 28 inch or 32 inch... use bar tips, if you are a perfect 6ft guy 28 inch is perfect shorter then 6 use a 32 inch. Bending over with a 20 pound piece of equipment puts strain on the lower back. Stand straight up no strain, Buck all day...
I'm getting the 661 here in February. Been running the 261c for the past year and a half or so. I can't wait. Your video just makes my anticipation sky rocket. I'm so looking forward to seeing the 261 and 661 sitting side by side, in all their glory. I'm a slab Sawyer myself. That is where I get the real kick out of chainsaws. Nothing better in the world than freeing a slab from a sturdy log. Oh boy, and the 661 is one mighty saw. Can't wait! Cheers brother, safe cutting! Fine chip slinging good sir, indeed! Fresh sub!
Thanks for your comment and sub. The 661 is perfect with the 261 by its side, that's also my current setup. I have been putting the 661 to work on some big Ash trees so more videos to come. Good luck with your future 661 purchase.
I’ve heard a description, that the 880 will take a forest but you could take-down a building with 660, (which became the 661). 661 will be a great milling saw. More low end grunt than the 500i and it’ll run a longer bar too. Don’t get me wrong, the 500i is a great saw but it’s not a milling saw.
This saw has great power rich, lean it out a bit and it will be unbelievable. This mabe the mtronic, if it is most run rich thats why a carbed version is much better. Mtronics and auto tune are for guys that don't know how to tune a saw...
It looks like European Ash. Many dying of Ash die back disease atm here in the UK. It turns well and is great for furniture making and tool shafts. It can be burned green (although obviously cooler than when seasoned and probably doesn’t do a chimney any favours🫤) Often classed as the best firewood although I prefer dry elm and beech personally on my stove.
