As good as it would have been, the true note on the NSMB series that was the overworld and athletic theme were all variated in their own ways. Can't have people complain it's TOO original.

@@ghostielovesya Apparently, we were going to get Factory and dinosaur-themed worlds, so it had some cool ideas, but it was too original, so they did the normal worlds, but they recycled the same worlds 4 more times. No wonder people were getting tired.

It feels like 100bpm, so it’s possible it was produced at 200bpm but with a half-time feel. Not sure why that would be the case but it would explain things.

@@NickHoad ​ Nintendo has a history of doing that with a lot of their games that used sequenced music. Take Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess, for example. Fyrus (a boss in the game) theme uses sequenced music, and it sounds like 170 bpm, but it’s actually 85 BPM (or half time). I feel like Nintendo does stuff like this in an odd BPM in order to do some cool effects with the music. For example, they can mute a track when you do a certain action, like when you’re in Hyrule Field ( also sequenced in Twilight Princess) and you’re standing still. The game would almost immediately go into an “idle” version of Hyrule Field until you move.

@@mr.oscilloscope maybe the composers just set the bpm to double what it is sometimes because they think it looks neater in the DAW/tracker they're using. I produce stuff and that happens to me all the time.

Well it's a remade GB DMG PSG chip! and the music is like ARM7 + ARM9 + REMADE GBC PSG

I'm not sure exactly how DS music works and if it's recorded sounds downsampled and played back on mono channels, or if it's actually generating the music on a chip like the Gameboy did. If it's the former, then whatever synth was used was polyphonic (meaning it can have multiple "voices", or notes, playing at once). If it's the latter, then it's a similar thing: every channel's "instrument" can play multiple notes at the same time. Either way, it's exactly the same as a lot of other channels playing chords - just multiple notes being played at the same time!
