Bathaniel here’s the best route: 1-1 1-2 secret exit Mushroom house 1-Tower secret exit 5-1 5-2 secret exit 5-3 5-Ghost House secret exit Then just the 12 World 8 levels but get a Mega Mushroom for the final boss and try to get a Blue Shell for 8-2 and 8-3

There is a secret exit in 1-2 to unlock a toad home and skip to the tower also theres one in 5-2 to skip 5-tower. There are also warpless speedruns where you dont use warp cannons and play 6 worlds

I'm pretty sure it would be faster to ground-pound Bowser Junior since that counts as two hits, you'd only have to hit him twice instead of three times.

Decent Speedrun, but the Bowser junior battle in World 5 could have been avoided (in fact the whole Tower could have been), if you entered the secret exit in 5-2. It would only skip the tower, though.

fun fact: the blue shell actually only goes 90% of mario's normal speed, so it's faster to go without it

I actually manually maxed out the point score because I've read somewhere that reaching 99999999 points spawns a secret level at the start of world 8. It sadly didn't do anything :( Edit to add: this was 11 years ago, time flies...

For 1-2 you should take the secret exit! You skip 1-3 AND it gives you a Mushroom House. (Although I THINK speedrunners rely on the flying question mark box luck but idr)

Hmm, besides staying alive, you can actually skip W1-3 and have the toad house at the same house by using the secret exit in W1-2 though. And wow you have a plenty of fireworks, I didn't get much when I play, at least not when I was completing the game. For world 5, you can skip the tower by using secret exit in W5-2 and wrap into the pipe in world map. Btw, it slows down when Bowser Jr. moves to another place. Good attempt though

Fireworks wouldn’t kill runs because they memorize movement and probbaly finish the level at the same time every time unless they make a mistake

At 8:36 in the top pipe you can go through and get to the ghost house quicker

Me and my father used to play this game all the time as a kid and we’d speed run it under thirty minutes. i really miss him

1 thing you could fix is not grabbing the mushroom because it is slower

While practicing, it's best to time your individual level time

You get a free mushroom house by taking the secret exit in 1-2. The secret exit also skips 1-3. And the secret exit in 5-2 also skips 5-Tower. Smh
