Andrew is slightly off about what happened, it's not that Facebook receives data from small servers and they are down but Facebook stopped sending Facebooks location, packets generally go by a path and that path is established by something called BGP(border gateway protocol) so for your computer to establish a path to Facebook Facebook should shout to other nodes saying this is where i am but Facebook was not doing that so essentially no packets could reach Facebook servers as Facebook stopped declaring where to find their IPS

I purchased the Surface Studio Laptop from the Surface pro 2. As an illustrator, I use the tablet mode alot for drawing, the stage mode for watch videos and the laptop mode for other office works. They marketed for the gamers but us creative designers enjoy it best. The only drawback for me is the lack of usb, ssd slots. Purchasing a hub for the thunderbolt, in addition to purchasing a pen, adds to an extra expense but I guess Apple is no saint either since they do the same thing. Again I'm coming from a model 8 years old so maybe I just need to adjust to the times.

I feel it's a very niche product and if I were in a market for a new laptop I would perfectly fit that niche. Seems like they improved the pen functionality and line jitter as well. I'd gladly give up the usual workflow of a laptop and a cintiq - extremely cumbersome if portability is an issue. More portable iPad Pro despite being almost perfect is held back by non-pro software you just can't work around :( Do you find the new pen ergonomics okay for longer drawing sessions?

As a working professional, it's great for reading through longer documents, signing and annotating documents (already had a surface pen), taking video calls. Intel should focus on marketing to computer manufacturers as opposed to consumers. They have to give manufacturers a reason to not do what Apple did, (develop their chipsets in-house), otherwise since Apple has set the precedent, more companies might follow. Apple really isn’t their competitor either, they’re two different businesses
@terribletimes902
@terribletimes902 2 года назад
They don’t need to worry about that. It took Apple ten years of developing chips starting with their phones before they could ditch Intel. No other manufacturer is close, except maybe Samsung but they aren’t exactly a large part of Intel’s base

SLS (Surface Laptop Studio): In thinking about the SLS compared to my SP, it is more convenient by folding the screen down over the keyboard to create a tablet only, as opposed to how the SP would do it. Currenlty, I disconnect the keyboard, flip and reconnect it and fold it behind. I wish MS could've made SLS thinner, especially if I use it as a tablet AND I'm standing holding it. Goal for the next version.

I think you guys are really missing the point of having a surface for anyone especially students who need a tablet for note taking and need a laptop for general work like programming, emails etc the surface pro 8 replaces a high end tablet and laptop. Instead of buying a Samsung galaxy tab s7 and a similarly priced windows laptop or getting a iPad pro ( or air) with a MacBook air you get one device to carry, less money to spend and aren't really compromising on the features you need out of either, particularly on the tablet side. I have friends what have both devices and they usually don't carry both around because it's too much, they spent a lot more than me and they barely use their tablet for anything that you couldn't do on windows especially with android apps coming to windows now (so what I'm referring to here is a few people play mobile games on their tablets). For students they need to take handwritten notes and that is the main feature they need from a tablet that they can't get anywhere else.
@mini9503
@mini9503 2 года назад
The problem is really not the device itself but the price. Which one do you think students on tight budget would pick between the two below? Surface Pro 8 - 4-core i5/8gb/256 model + keyboard + stylus + warranty = $1630 USD HP Envy x360 13 - 4-core ryzen/8gb/256 model + stylus + warranty = $685 USD You may argue the cheaper Ryzen Tablets don't have a Thunderbolt port for eGPU like the Surface for students who want to play games, so here's another example: Lenovo Yoga 7i 14 - Core i7/12gb/512 model + stylus + warranty = $799
@actual_random
@actual_random 2 года назад
@@mini9503 Yeah i mean my argument was kind of for 2 in 1s in general as they weren't really just going for a surface but at the form factor. For me a Yoga or x360 isn't as close to a tablet as I would like. You can get the surface pro 7 for cheaper if you are on a budget. I got the surface pro 8 i5 256 for £999 then I am trading in my old device for £225 and paying like £250 for the new pen and keyboard so the net cost is around £1k. My last device was significantly cheaper £400 pounds for the pro 4 pen included and £60 for the type cover but after having it i am so sold on the form factor and I've been waiting for the 120hz + bigger screen so for me it's worth the money after seeing what my 400£ pro which is at the end of its life has done for me. A lot of people with yogas or Envy's that I know don't take notes that often probably because they are really laptops first tablets second. Whereas the pro I feel like is in the middle. I can use it as a note-taking tablet for weeks without using it as a laptop and vice-versa. And for people that have no problem paying the same price for an iPad which has significantly less functionality particularly for stem students it only make sense to go with the pro.
@mini9503
@mini9503 2 года назад
@@actual_random That's true. Used/Refurb SP6/7 are really nice. Personally tho I prefer Convertibles because I have a 10" iPad for taking everywhere on the go, but Detachables are better I suppose if you're using one as your only PC, which most students do due budget and convenience. It's crucially about how many devices you choose to use, and whether you want a specialized device for each task or a pricier one that combines more form-factors, but compromises in some way to achieve that. That's why I think many people have no problem using Surface as their only PC, even though they're certainly not for everyone.

I feel like anyone who doesn't have a specific use case for surface products either overthinks them or disregard's their usefulness. The Duo is literally a digital pocket notebook that can make phone calls and take decent pictures. The Surface pro has always been the Jack of all trades device but now you can plug a RTX 3090 into it if want or just use it to watch movies in bed without buying any accessories if your on a budget (people always seem to discount how convenient a build-in kickstand is). The Laptop Studio , its in the name its a portable laptop version of the surface studio, and they keep showing Xbox controllers because it has a built-in Xbox wireless receiver to lower latency.
@toptiertech7291
@toptiertech7291 2 года назад
Yes. But let’s break it down. The Duo is a pocket notebook that can make calls and costs $1600. LG had a Removable dual screen for half the price but did everything better. The same with the studio laptop. It’s a $1600 device that isn’t stronger than some $900 laptops. They only gave it a 4cpu. That’s abysmal. Yeah it folds but is that worth the price tag for the performance. They are very niche products for the high cost. Microsoft’s problem is cost vs power and usability. The surface pro is a $750 with an i3 in it. Their devices being touch screen makes them way too expensive for their performance for the average person.
@msp5138
@msp5138 2 года назад
@@toptiertech7291 Let's break it down even further, who buys tech or anything for that matter at full retail price? My OG Duo was $410US. My SPX (SQ2, 16 ram, 512ssd) was $599US. And every other computer or tablet or phone I have purchased as been at minimum 30% off. This is what the majority of people do, buy something on sale or at a discount. Not sure techies are the only ones who talk about the cost of stuff in terms of MFRP..
@toptiertech7291
@toptiertech7291 2 года назад
@@msp5138 “that’s what a majority of people do”. Do you have proof of that? Because most people I know buy things when they come out. They don’t wait 6 months to a year to buy a tech product they need. You got the surface duo for that price because no one bought it. Even at that price. The LG v60 was still a way better deal, device and cheaper. The duo 2 is coming out at $1500 and no one’s gonna buy it. Then in 6-7 months you’ll be able to get it for $500. That surface pro x has terrible performance and resale price compared to a MBA. That’s why it’s impossible to resell non apple products for a good price a year later

I can't with these Intel ads. It seems to me that they have no decency class or dignity left. Especially since Apple is being dead silent about all this.

This intel ad is meant to get less people buying macbooks, which will naturally boost Intel sales. That's all. And honestly, as cringy and fake as some of it was, there was a lot of truth in it. Apple is stiffling innovation by refusing to have touchscreen on macs and by refusing to innovate in their design. Intel is right to point out the benefits of windows laptops which naturally boosts their sales

Apple will never introduce macbooks with touchscreen coz then ipads will be somewhat redundant.
@AndroidDigest
@AndroidDigest 2 года назад
@@vatsalgaur1999 Microsoft has the Surface Pro, and they also have laptops. Both have touch screen and they aren't redundant. I think Apple just wants to force people to buy both. People who don't have a lot of money might only buy one if they could. So this is just a way to make more money for them

These never address real tech news, only fluff stuff that doesn't hurt their free review samples and ad money. Bet you haven't heard about the class-action lawsuit filed against Apples M1 MacBook because of cracked screens last month. And you won't from an US tech RU-vidr...

Most ads attacking Apple are cringey. That’s not to say that to criticize Apple is bad or undeserved, but every company just goes about it so stupidly in a way that just reeks of desperation and insecurity.

It's quite clear that Apple has trained their laptop/desktop customers well to not think out of the box. They are good at streamlining what they offer but not very good at innovation. I don't mind it but it grates me how taboo it seems to some Apple costumers it is to state this. I'm happy you like your purchase but I'm mindful about the fact that what you get is NOT the best and pretending that it is is tiresome.

I think the words "cringe & desperate" towards Intel's ad is a bit of an exaggeration. Are they trying to associate the name Intel with the benefits of their manufacturers? Yes. There's a possibility that they aren't, currently, aiming at AMD because the narrative may still be Apple vs PC and aiming at AMD doesn't instill any confidence in a new or returning PC user. As a PC user, but openly use both an iPhone, iPad, Samsung Note, and HP Elite, I saw the ad as taking control of the narrative around PCs as a whole. We've all had the conversation about Apple adding features to the iPhone that many Androids has had for years and somehow it appears as a new phenomenon to iPhone users when Apple does it. As tech enthusiasts we have more insider knowledge and let it pass, but in my opinion, the average iPhone/Mac user has no idea these features already exists and if they were given the choice to choose blindly without logos and merely on their "wants", they'd probably not choose an Apple device. Could the ad have been executed better to convey that? Yes. But it was far from "cringe & desperate". If they convert the average Mac user to PC, it's a win for them because arguably the hardest fight is over and their introduction to/back to PC would be an Intel device even if they switch to an AMD device at some point or at all.
