My wife was in the kitchen cooking tea when I watched this - I shouted out ' Not having meatballs are we ? ' She shouted back 'No why' I just said 'Good - I was just wondering ! Then I told her about your review she said 'We don't have any meatballs in and I don't get swedish ones ' Thank goodness for that - I started feeling queesy watching you eat them !
This is poison, ultra processed ‘food’. DON’T BUY IT. Make it yourself, it’s cheaper to do so and certainly don’t feed crap like this to your children.
The "NAH!" face crept in there quite quickly. The absence of mechanically separated chicken had me feeling optimistic, but the low percentage of meat tells all, I suppose.
I was in Aldi today and found something new and different. Having spent many years in the USA, I became quite fond of Buffalo chicken wings. The real Buffalo wings. Once I returned to the UK, I couldn't find anything that was even close to Buffalo wings. Some claimed to be Buffalo wings, but they tasted more like a some random spicy curry. Now, I did find buffalo wings at Sainsbury's and they were fairly close in taste. What I found today surprised me. "Fully Loaded Buffalo Wing Peanuts." Snackrite brand. These are the closest flavour to real Buffalo wing sauce and seasonings. Give them a go, I think you'll like them.
Hilarious, what most folks here fail to understand is that the 9% and 3.5% pork and beef are off the entire SERVING [400g] which also includes the mash. Not saying that 50g meat is a huge portion, but when you just look at the tray, more than half of the meal is the big clunky portion of mash. And those tiny meatballs contain a good amount of water and flour and other ingredients. The package doesn’t say anywhere that each meatball ist 100g and only contains 9% + 3.5% pork and beef. 😂😂
My wife has just excelled in her cooking, that's never been done before. Not only did she set our smoke alarm off, but managed to set the neighbours alarm off aswell. 😂
Like some of the other comments, we usually stock up on the IKEA frozen bags, some packets of the sauce, and some lingenberry jam. If we still have meatballs left but none of the other stuff, we improvise. Add a small amount of single cream or milk to some Bisto chicken gravy granules for a sauce substitute and cranberry sauce. Also, you can vary Mash or fries, which we usually had at IKEA. Good review, Gareth, saved some disappointment.😀👍
Hi Gareth, I knew the Meatballs were iffy when you gave us the closeup and i spotted the bluebottle eggs in the Meatballs. Bluebottles are always laying eggs on stuff in my Kitchen . The dog food is a big target if left out. I wouldn't throw it out straight away , just dump a load of Hot sauce on it and it might save it. Great thing about your plate is the high lip on the edge , you can pour some hot water from the kettle on it to warm it up before putting the food on it.
I used to love them tinned ones when I was a kid, I have some fond memories with my late father cooking them up for us. So I thought i'd try them again, I had the chicken Fray Bentos ones, cooked them slowly in the pan and they were really tasty. I don't rate a lot of these supermarket ready meals, but I get that they’re really convenient to wack in the microwave and have prepared in minutes. Back on to Fray Bentos, they need to bring back the chicken n mushroom flavour pie already, anyway, thanks for another decent vlog mate.
Yes, and thats the problem with Aldi, their French ham is tasty because it comes from France but their Italian “Style” ham tastes nothing like the real thing and isn’t very good. The herbs are subtle on real Italian meat like they sell in Lidl but Aldi’s is a bit crude.
Love the videos and good to see reviews of "real" food for many. Just remember though that (even if they are nasty) the "meat content" is based on the whole meal and not just the meat item, and the other ingredients (including the potato) will make up the rest. Keep the videos coming!
Seeing the headline I expected IKEA ones! There are lots on the menu, usually 8 pieces standard ,plus you can buy them in the shop However, we were put off their meatballs when my wife came across a bit of bone . Put me off as well. Could hide anything in a meatball so make your own, as we do. Your face makes a perfect Tasteometer!
I LOVE your reviews of bad food. 9% Pork + 3.5% Beef Meatballs! Yummy! The potato at 05:00 looks like it was scraped of pensioners heels & based on your reaction its the best bit of the meal. So from all the thousands who's stomach & behinds have been saved from this meal we thank you for taking one for the team. Do yourself a favour & splash out another pound on any of the Italian M&S ready meals instead. The M&S Chicken & Parmesan Fettuccine or the M&S Tuscan Sausage Penne are the best but anything is better than this creation you inflicted on yourself.
I can't help but feel that if you could lay your hands on some mono- and diacetyl tartaric acid esters of mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids as listed in the ingredients on the package, you could probably make your own meatballs from scratch.
Hi Gareth, It's bit of a required taste, and I don't like them, I wouldn't call it a Marmite moment I love Marmite. Last year I bought Bisto Swedish meat ball gravy, that was not nice either. Thanks for your honest opinion, I'm with you on this one, take care
I do love Italian food, our local Wilkinson butchers made their own, their homemade sauce really enhanced their meat balls, put in oven they were fantastic, depending who made the meatballs some were lovely &fluffy light enough without breaking apart,& some were like small little bullets rolled up by eddie hall squeezed to within an inch of there lives,i just wanted consistency, no matter what hints i dropped to the local butcher it was russian roulette if you got rolled meatballs with tender loving care or the incredible hulk in a bad mood..
Have Swedish meatballs & mash quite regularly. Get the cathedral city mash and use the Swedish meatballs from Iceland…its a 900g bag for £6. Lovely with some peppercorn sauce.
I'm going off processed meat to be honest ever since you did that Iceland mixed grill review. Fair play to you for consuming this horrible food you find in supermarkets
Oh dear! They didn’t look very nice 😳😳 OMG - Not even for my dog 😂😂😂 I always thought IKEA was for furniture!!! What do you prefer I get for you - new plates or a lamp for your shadows? (You must all think I’m crazy, but this man makes me giggle every day. That’s special ❤❤)
So what have you learned from this taste review. Possibly if you were not doing such a great job on the no boozing front I expect you might have reviewed these differently. I have been out with blokes of a Saturday night and some of the 02:00 takeaways were rank but only to me ( I’m teetotaller as I take meds that you can’t drink with and therefore was always the designated driver). So taste is all down to your lifestyle choices is my input. This review might be added incentive and proof that your own lifestyle changes are reaping you additional tastebud rewards and advantages. You’ve potentially broken through into the gastronome life zone. You might have to drop Aldi lower value brands and step up to their more premium Aldi brand equivalents. 😂😂❤❤ - keep up your great, honest and amusing content creation. Maybe you could retest some of your older taste reviews and see if your tastebuds have changed with your lifestyle changes. 😎🤷♂️🤷♂️👍👍👍
Another great one, Gaz... I was up in Ulverston yesterday and took your advice and visited your favourite butchers on Market Street.. you're right.. their stuff is fantastic. Keep them coming.😂👍🏴
A little bit of pork, an even littler bit of beef - and lots of other stuff. With mash. There are better alternatives for 2 49. Not a patch on the beef brisket burnt ends 🤤
We actually find that Farmfoods meatballs are pretty good. They are in the chilled section and you get around 15 in a bag for a quid. Make your own mash and gravy.
Brilliant Gareth! To bin or not to bin - that is the question. Surprised at Aldi as I'm a big fan. You are doing great mate! All the best, Andy in Glasgow
Only a matter of time now before I start uploading my own videos again. RU-vid saved my life over 13 years ago. This channel I have now is young but i want to create a new community here where we can all chill out. I don't care about how many subscribers I have or the views on my vids, I just want everyone to come and chill. I have been an absolute mess through drink recently. I do have a lot of experience here on the internet also, lets all stay strong. Sorry Gareth I had to share it's been nuts love you all. Nice review too. Playlists updated everyday please come and chill. Cheers again Gareth.
I love watching you test food i really enjoy it but I would never take someone else's word for anything about any subject, I always try something for myself, I know they were not to your liking though and that was funny to watch but I've tried a few things you didn't like and I've found them ok so as you say we're all different.
Hi from Scotland hope you're all safe and well my friends 🏴👍😉✌️🏴... U should cut your tray in half b4 cooking it & it makes it much easier to serve on plate my friend 👍😉🏴🏴
I am just here to drop a like, comment and avoid that muck like the plague. Cheers fella, you deserve a medal or a psychological exam or both for trying that.
Goodness me, how can this be allowed on the shelves at 9% meat. I definitely will not be trying this. You're a machine Gareth. Well done on trying it 😊 👍
That meatball in the middle looks like your head if you squint a bit ha. I used to love IKEA. They sold this Swedish cider for about 70p a can. you could get pissed up and if you needed a nap there was loads of beds about lol
Lol gaz screw washing up , out the tray it is 👍 Edit... That close up of balls put me right off, "i don't have a dog" if you could see the state of me now when you said that, My Dr pepper tin followed through , i nearly bloody died 😂
Interesting. I love Swedish meatballs, gravy and mash, but I do think the gravy can be an acquired taste. Might give these a try to see if it replicates the taste of Sweden. You need some lingonberry jelly with it.
