Teras on the Conclusion of an Age album. Been listening to them since 2011. Just solid metal and I always look forward to new stuff. Unfortunate for the Architects to lose a member and a friend but I was stoked when I heard Josh was filling in. And yes Sylosis is worth seeing live. Super cool dudes. Alex topped my brother's beer off before going on stage. Legends
Very nice getting Josh on here. Like you said, dudes a beast and one of the busiest guys in metal for sure. Fav Sylosis song def out from below. What an intro to an album.
I found Sylosis by accident from a video my favorite skater Chris Haslam was in. He was skating and talking about music and mentioned Sylosis. A quick youtube search pulled up Empyreal and I was hooked instantly.
I was adding a song to my brothers playlist and when the song ended, Cycle of Suffering started to play randomly and I thought it was fire and now I love them
I found them on my first metalcore deep dive when I used to use Amazon music. I would just click on the “similar customers listened to” and eventually found them and some other great bands.
The care put into the songs is so great. I love the vocals, the riffs, the drums, just everything is awesome. One thing sylosis does is that a lot of bands neglect is transitions. So many times bands just go from one part to another without any flow and sylosis is just great at it.
Picking a favorite Sylosis song is impossible. I remember the fist song I ever heard was Fear The World and I was hooked immediately, the album Monolith was the one that really made me dive in an to this day I still can't find an album with the same production quality as that one, everything sounds immaculate. Then I went and heard the album Conclusion Of An Age and it quickly became one of my favorite albums ever along with Monolith, they're both in quite frequent rotation for me. Then I heard the album Edge Of The Earth, that one took me quite a while to get into simply because of how dense it is, it's so packed with riff after riff after riff, one song after the other and each of them having so many parts it became even exhausting trying to listen to that album at that time, now I still feel like there's a lot going on but it's much more easier to digest. Then I waited patiently for the album Dormant Heart and when the first single dropped, Mercy, I listen to it on repeat for weeks, and when the album came out I couldn't stop listening to it. I was a bit worried when Josh joined Architects because I thought Sylosis, one of my favorite bands, was just gonna end but then I Sever came out and they announced a new album and I felt so relieved and the damn album did not disappoint. This is one band I listen too very frequently and don't get tired, they're probably the only band I put on shuffle and just let whatever play. Amazing guitars, drums, vocals and a production sound I've never heard from another band. They are criminally underrated.
I've been a Sylosis fan for nearly 10 years now and it's so great to see them finally getting all the recognition they deserve! Josh is such a cool dude too 🤘
I used to take guitar lessons with Pin from sikth in 2005/6, he would occasionally give me EPs to listen to/recommend bands and that's how I discovered sylosis. So sick to see how amazing they became. Sylosis were also the last gig I went to in London before covid shut everything down, couldn't have asked for a better show, Josh was a BEAST
Was that with Dyscarnate? Last gig for me as well. The other time i saw those two bands together was to like 200 people at sub89 in Reading and it made me very happy to see the crowd they got in Islington. Both bands are fire.
Followed Sylosis since I found them on fuckin myspace pre Casting Shadows EP so I've a lot of favorites from their catalogue, shame the early demos and EPs arent on spotify, I'm sure I have them somewhere. The fact that theyve just been head down grinding away putting out consistant bangers with Josh just staying true to his vision, and gradually accumulating the credit they truly deserve for over 20 goddamn years blows my mind. So sad I've only got to see them a couple of times. Big shout out to the other stellar musicians that have played in Sylosis over the years. Josh is obviously the mastermind but there have been so many underrated guys alongside him.
I've loved Sylosis for a LONG time, ever since I heard Empyreal 1 and 2 and bought the album (Edge of the Earth). When Lorna Shore dropped Into the Earth, I'm sitting there thinking MAN this guitar solo came out of nowhere, it really reminds me of Sylosis, but I'd never heard a single youtuber talk about them so I figured they were too obscure what, 10 years later? Haven't even watched this video yet but I'm so excited already
It's so cool to see such a truly incredible from the UK get better and better and gain more and more recognition. I've been a fan since the old days in reading on the casting shadows EP. Have seen them live more than any other band. Josh's technique on the guitar is exceptional
Man I've loved Sylosis for well over a decade now, so great that Josh has kept the band going! I'd love to see a tour with Sylosis & Viscera, get After Lifeless Years live with Jamie back on vocals, I can dream...
It would be cool if Josh did a vocal "play-through" of After Lifeless Years on Twitch, or maybe even put it on RU-vid like he did with the Cycle of Suffering title track.
"Our first singer did it" Its sad they dont talk about each other anymore or can even name drop each other. I know it ended less than ideal but Jamie Graham and Josh middleton combo was fucking special. That first album is one of the best metal albums ever. And both went on to do excellently so there should be no hard feelings. Sylosis/Architects & Heart of a Coward/Viscera have all been absolutely sensational.
The first album is crazy good. So is every Sylosis album for sure, it’s just insane they went that hard on their very first full length album! I do miss the cleans from Jamie as well. He was a killer vocalist for them.
By far one of my favourite bands, love that Josh can’t help himself when putting solos in the songs. Absolutely love the lead work and how tight Sylosis are as a whole. Chefs kiss
I found sylosis from Niks modern metal playlist and I can say they're a band that i'm starting to get into. Loved this track, wish I could've been in the chat that day but either way great vid for sure!
These guys have been my favorite band since I found them in 2015. I love that they can pay respects to the thrash stuff, and pantera, and old death metal. I’m glad there are a few bands still doing this.
Good to hear a Berzerker shout out. I remember hearing them in 2008 when I was like 14 and it was the most insane thing I'd ever heard. It was comedic how brutal it was. XD
These guys are so satisfying. They just have too much good stuff to choose favorite song and they go hard always. Idk how they aren't more popular, especially with the 2020 album.. one of my favorite albums front to back that I've listened to in the past few years and all the songs have 10/10 replay value. This dude is a beast.
started off with conclusion of an age. then they totally switched gears with edge of the earth which is really just on another level. it is the most underrated thrash album
Fell in love with Sylosis when I saw them live doing the preshow for Lamb of God. They are a headliner on their own right, even back then in 2012 or 2013.
Josh couldn't pick more perfect example than Nile - Black Seeds of Vengeance. I was a fan of Nile from the beginning and Black Seeds is imo the perfect Nile album. Also Sylosis is the most underrated band ever!
Josh is a beast. It's obvious if Architects wanted to break back to their heavier roots than this new album dropping tomorrow. They could've gone that route with the skill Josh has too. Evolution is inevitable, I'm glad all in all that Architects still exist
You know, its kinda sick that Nik can just casually talk with such legends like Josh, where we can only dreamt of it! U really are living our dream Nik
I'll be honest i only knew Josh when he joined Architects, However been listening to Sylosis and they are so good! Josh has a great "thrash metal" voice and he is a riff lord! Love you both Nik and Josh!
Obviously architects is the money maker, been a big fan for a while, but fuck man sylosis it's where it's BEEN at. I'm a sucker for thrash so I guess that's why it hits harder to me but josh is a full on guitar/front man hero. If this is your introduction to them do yourselves a fucking favor and check out their discography.
a buddy leant me conclusion of an age back in 2012ish? before edge of the earth came out anyways. they finally came to alberta, canada opening on the devildriver and trivium tour in like 2015 or so, it was fuckin awesome. club was pretty trashy, cheetah print on the wall. they came out and signed stuff and took photos after the devildriver set, but i was so deaf and tired (drunk) from the pit, i tried talking to the bass player but i couldn't understand a word he said, and he looked at me like an idiot XD we took a photo, josh was in the background. overall a really bitchin night.
First time I saw Sylosis they opened on the Lamb Of God, In Flames, and Hatebreed tour. They stole the show for me and I’ve been a fan ever since. Josh is amazing btw
