NEW Tamiya 1/24 2022 Subaru BRZ and 2022 Toyota GR 86 (Hot scale plastic models ) 

I really like the way they solved molding, pretty ingenious. Edit: I agree, Subaru's grill looks more interesting.

I wish they had included a left hand drive dashboard.

... And I bought Tamiya Toyota 86 a couple months ago!

I prefer the grill on the Subaru , suits the car much better .

I'm for the BRZ but I'm partial to Subaru since I own an Outback.

I used to own 2, 2013 Frs'. They are great and fun to drive. When I saw that the new ones were coming out I was impressed with the overall look of the BRZ but then they released the 86 and I have to say, 86 all the way. Love the more aggressive front end of the 86.

I don't know if it's my monitor and lighting conditions but the blue is much easier to see detail on and is different enough from the fabric color that there's enough contrast to see the edges of the parts easily. The Toyota grille is more old-school, the Subaru newer. Not sure which I prefer. The Toyota does slightly remind me of a more modern Jaguar so maybe I lean that way a little.

Beautiful kit, I like the included masks and the overall quality is top notch, it's on my shopping list and now I can see it is worth the asking price, defo going for that BRZ.

Hmmmmm, I just put my order in for the 1/1 scale BRZ. Do you suppose if I get this one and water it the model will grow into the full size car?

kinda surprised Tamiya, in spirit with the real manufacturers, didn't release it as a dual-mode kit where there's 2 front-end parts to choose from and save on box assets. I wonder if it comes down to fierce brand loyalty cause ain't no way a Subaru street racer gonna be caught dead with a TOYoyta :-P

Unusual for Tamiya to release a kit of a car (the original BRZ in 2012) and then release a kit of the new version a few years later. They released a few Skylines but can't think of another example. Would be nice to get a different couple of car kits.

I don't care for either one. I like old cars much better. Nice video though.

hey man, I love that you talk in derail about the build and the idiosyncrasies of the kits. The videos that just play music are less useful.

A lot of automobile manufacturers have done this, and continue to do this. Remember the Ford Courier pick-up truck? It was a shared platform with the Mazda B series pick-up. Then there was the Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable when they were first introduced in the mid 1980s. There are several of these types of rebadging done in the Automotive Industry, and the sharing of platforms. Also, Toyota does have shares in Subaru as well.

A kit of a car I haven't deen yet. I would take the Toyota 86, One of my heros, Keiichi Tsuchiya owns a sweet AE86.

So a decent lower end car with a decent price point and a kit to match those standards, nice. I would take the Toyota, I thinks, for now anyway.

Nice kit review. I could see building both of them in contrasting colors. I wonder if someone in the aftermarket will be building a left hand driven dash. I guess I prefer the Subaru over the Toyota. Mainly, because I've owned two Subaru's.

I built the older 2013 Toyota GT86 version. It was a superb kit, and a dead match for the car I owned at the time. Am sure these will fantastic. 👍🏻

Tamiya black has like a metallic sheen to it. Very high quality molds as typical of them.

There will be a lot of aftermarket stuff for those kits.

Thank you for review Andy! Brand new Tamiya kits. Nice. The same story was: Tamiya No. 24323 Toyota 86 and Tamiya No. 24324 Subaru BRZ. I mean older version of these cars. Majority of parts (sprues) were the same. Anyway, these are beautiful car kits! EDIT: I want to have both. I prefer Subaru, but there is hardly any difference.

BRZ all the way , I may be a little impartial 😂, Tamiya needs to make VA02 (15 STI). Nobody makes them

I believe Tamiya released a 86/BRZ b4. Unless this one is an updated one. I remember Aoshima also released the 86 and the BRZ in stock and Rocket Bunny Versions. Anyway I like to see a new release car model from Tamiya. Thanks for the video Andy. I like the Subaru but in the red color of the 86.

Tamiya could have just put the two different front and rear ends in and made a single kit with options. Looks like it's gonna be a good kit. Now we need the upcoming Z :)

Not much imagine from Tamiya releasing basically the same car with different badging. Will they ever release a new rally car kit, or World Touring Car or even a Desert Raid like the Mini buggy? I'm not interested in building road cars.
