Hope you enjoyed the video! If you want to see more, let me know :) I fit as much as I could into a 18 minute review, but if you have any questions I'll answer as many as I can
Finally someone who actually tests track mode and understands it’s not only reserved for the track. Terrific review and beautifully shot video, thank you for sharing!
The pickup experience in Toronto is also great. I'll never forget the day I picked up my brand new 2023 LR model. The car was spotless, adorned with a red bow, and came with a “Congratulations” note, which I’ve kept to this day. As I drove out with a big smile on my face, a young Asian couple noticed my excitement. They smiled warmly and graciously called out, “Congratulations!” It was a perfect moment that made the day even more special. It felt almost like a wedding day, haha!
Very good video Andrew. Likely one of the clearest and most concise real Tesla ownership videos I have seen without it being sidetracked with non-important info even from the delivery experience. This video probably pushed me over the line with my desire to buy the new performance, which I’m not too sure I’m grateful for! “Insane”.
Fantastic review, thanks Andrew! I'm going to be picking up this or the long range in a couple of months and now I'm definitely leaning towards the performance version because it just seems like such a fun drive, hopefully the lack of stalks is something that can be gotten used to over time. I've also had one of the previous generation long range cars with the speed boost and absolutely loved it. Oh and ... insane!
As a long time EV naysayer, I have to admit how badass the M3P is. A granola eating tree hugger driving one of these can now smoke my M3 F86, which is truly remarkable.
Performance car experts are saying that the new M3P makes the BMW M3 no longer the standard by which sports sedans are measured. I just took delivery my 2024 Tesla M3P. I have been a BMW owner for over 20 years and must say this car outperforms in virtually every measure. The first thing that grabs you is the superb handling - of course control is top notch and in addition the ride is amazing with its adjustable dampening it remains PLANTED in nearly every road condition. Instantaneous throttle response (no hated turbo-lag) ludicrous acceleration (0 x 60 2.9 seconds) AND it pulls hard up to 155+ mph. Around town this thing is sooo quick!! The new sports seats are unmatched and the cabin is quiet! I plug-in at home with a fill-up around $10-15. Absolute Nirvana. A BMW M3 with necessary options stickers around $90-100. My M3P was $48k with standard Stealth Grey color (qualified for $7,500 EV tax credit). There can be no doubt that Elon set out to take the Best Sports Sedan crown from BMW and succeeded hands-down IMO.
The interior build quality of the Tesla is inferior to the BMW M3 in every way. And although the new M3P Highland is a much needed upgrade over the older model, it still falls way short of BMW standards. And there are still key features missing such as a driver display and HUD, bird’s eye camera view, and the accuracy of sonic sensors for parking. All of which my 6-year old BMW has standard. Yes, Tesla is definitely cheaper, but you are also getting a lot less. And let’s face it, the battery technology is outdated. Solid state batteries are only a couple years away which offer far superior range and can full recharge in 10 minutes. I for one can wait. I just hope Tesla improves upon their interior build quality by then 😉
@Great_America bmw is a luxury brand just like Mercedes and lexus. Tesla does not portray themselves as those brands. Best bang for your buck is the model 3 performance without a doubt. Now if you are worried about interior quality and niceties than feel free to spend an extra $45k for a m3 competition xdrive.
Fantastic review, Andrew, thanks! I don't like the on-screen shifting, but I still really like the 2024 Model 3 Performance. I made the mistake of renting one for two days and um, well, I want to sell my 2023 Performance now and move to the '24 Performance. The only issue is that Uber Red currently does not qualify for the Federal Tax Incentive in the U.S., nor does any color but Stealth Gray. Hopefully Tesla Insurance comes to Australia soon! Really enjoyed your vid, the cinematography, the great moving shots of the car, etc. Expertly done! P.S., how do you like the headlights for night driving in the '24 vs. the last Performance car you had?
Thank you! Headlights are quite similar to my previous M3 so they're great, esepcially with the latest software update that gives us adaptive headlights. The interior cabin lighting though is WAY brighter than the previous gen, like 2-3x brighter.
2023 m3p?? Your car is brand new and still at its peak with crazy performance too.If you had a '18- '22 model 3 and have money to throw then yeah go for the '24. I would wait for the next refresh imo, It's not worth it knowing that it will get crazy better.
I got a 2024 M3P. Previous cars have been various Porsche 911s and last was a Taycan. Taycan had various quality issues and the car was off the road for 2 days every time there was a software upgrade. Porsche couldn't care less so I looked at other options and bought the Tesla. The M3P is as fast as any Porsche I've own. The chassis is planted and the tech makes Porsche look like they're 10 years behind. The Tesla charging network is better and more available than the Ionic network Porsche were pushing. Range is better than my last Taycan and the price is half that of a new Taycan. The only point on which my old Taycan wins is its brakes are better (when they worked). Also everything is pretty much standard with Tesla whereas Porsche just keep adding the options and charging handsomely for it. Quite happy with the Tesla and really don't miss the Porsche.
I know. I have had a few BMWs, then Porsche GT3RS/GT4 still have an air cooled but now I got two Tesla replaced my Cayenne S, GT4 I love my Tesla not changing anytime soon. Tesla all the way for convenience, less problems and super user friendly. No hassle purchase. Porsche dealerships gone high super highway robbery!! Absurd.
warning charge up to 100% only applies to LFP batteries. And from what I have understood So they are in the weaker engine version of the Tesla with rear wheel drive. Tesla 3 long range and Tesla 3 Performance have NCA Batteries. and on those the recommendation is 80%
Cant believe tesla didn’t invent something new for the turn signals like a notch on the grip of the wheel or classic paddles. AT LEAST put the left button on the left and the right button on the right.
I totally agree. This new M3P is INSANE, yet also sane when desired. Great review, even though your steering wheel is on the wrong side. Enjoy your new rocketship.
I hate the turn signal complaint, your never activating the turn signal while turning the wheel unless you’re on the highway, and even then you’ll be using self driving.
I have a 2023 MYP and love it. Finally started seeing the M3P refresh around town and it is eye catching. Having kids, the Y makes more sense, but I'm definitely waiting to see what the refreshed Y & performance refresh will be like.
How different it is when comparing with regular tesla model 3 specially when it comes to steering wheel Or its the same I tried tesla model 3 regular but didn’t like the feel of steering wheel so much I felt it was little small for my giant hands
im confused... is this video specifically for US audiences or something? the specs/price he mentions is for the US, but the car is obviously the AU variant, which is the slower, LG battery equipped model 🤔
except the deal breaker is still "NO Speedo in front of sterring". and how do you turn on turn signal while in you drive in a roundabout.. This new highland model is just to much a Tablet, not a car.
510hp for US and 460hp for the rest of the world IS NOT PEAK POWER as you say, its AVERAGE power!!! Peak power for “460hp” M3P is 544hp. Pls do some research. All you young youtubers can do is repeat what you hear not investigate and spend time to do some research. Everything has to be fast fast fast for generation Z..
I’m in Sydney too and I thought my secretary was one of the first to order this. Expectation arrival is July - August… I managed to test the red mp3 they had in Alexandria and I can’t wait because the acceleration is just pure fun, for a 5 seater. I’ve compared it to my hurucan technica and the acceleration is just too fun. Suffice to say I’m jealous you’ve had it already for a month and I’ve ordered the same spec as you so well done.
17:45 Oil changes need to be done every 50k km (30k miles) to ensure drive units will not fail prematurely, despite what tesla says. Both drive units DO HAVE oil to be changed, and tesla is lying customers about it in order to make electric cars even more appealling. P.D. If you maintain it, it will increase its resale value for sure.
Why talk in miles and mph and no mention of km or kph … you’re from Australia… gotta cater for those yanks I guess. Good review though Andrew. I’m not sure I could live with the signals on the wheel, the drive selector on the screen or no display of speed in front of me (read speedo or HUD).
3:00 paint is also something every single car manufacturer does 'good enough'. Go pick up a brand new £300k Ferrari and it will be the same, swirl marks and all. There are loads of YT vids showing so, such as on Shmee's channel. I wish they'd all buck up the expectation and deliver paint that is detailed from factory.
The UK version has 460bhp, not 500 like in the US, windscreen wiper sensor still an issue and comes on in the dry! Seats could have a bit more give. Screen in the back is not really functional as a tv because of the position. Worth balancing up the good with the bad - look up bad points on YT and also consider these 😎👍
Shit UK as per usual god forbid they give us anything fun or too much to handle. Such a shit show we have to have inferior products and pay more for them.
Great review and video! Question: were you at anytime concerned about potholes on the road with the 20inch rims and thinner tires? Not sure what road conditions are like in Sydney, but certainly roads in the US aren't great.
Sydney roads are decent but not perfect. The adaptive suspension helps, some pot holes are intense in sports mode, but in comfort mode potholes are absorbed decently. Overall, I'm more aware of pot holes (vs the 23 Long Range) and I try and drive around them if I can
@@AndrewEthanZeng Thanks for the info! Sounds like it's manageable. One of my main concerns is the potential to damage large rims/thin tires on crappy roads, but I guess just a matter of being a bit more careful.
Hey Andrew , really nice video ! I was wondering if I could help you with more Quality Editing in your videos and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail and also help you with the overall youtube strategy and growth ! Pls let me know what do you think ?
EVEN BETTER ONE I would say is long range dual motor model 3 = somewhat "slower" (4.2s,0-60), but much better range, and quieter and hence more luxurious on long drives.
I will be looking to buy used one in 2 years. Owned 3 brand new Teslas since 2016... Currently own a 2021 Y and 2023 3... I will be going the used route from now on since Tesla just depreciates too much.
After driving mine around for a few weeks and playing with the suspension modes, I somehow left it on standard because I guess I thought it was more comfortable and didn't make that big a difference, but I come from the old 2019 M3P and I really started to notice how the new one just didn't feel great in certain circumstance, like the change of direction was just not great. It's not something I notice straight away when I change the mode and I thought "oh it doesn't feel that different, so I'll leave it in standard for the better ride". Anyway after a few weeks I noticed that I just wasn't getting out of the car smiling as much anymore. Finally, it dawned on me that it was the suspension mode, so I changed it back to sport and now I find myself smiling a lot more! It's a subtle change and isn't really that noticeably better to me on some corners, but then at certain times, especially if you are turning hard one direction and then hard the other direction quickly, then that's where the difference is much more apparent. It's almost a back of mind feeling that you get that you can't put your finger on as to why the sport mode just makes the car more fun to drive.
Crazy, my dad got his y performance, a few months later my mom got the highland, and a month later I got my m3 too! We love Tesla, especially the FSD! Aiming to buy a m3 performance in a few years! Also, Tesla has its own insurance which is cheaper than you can typically get outside of Tesla. They are reportedly lowering insurance prices as well with Fsd 12.5 and Im sure it will get cheaper as Fsd progresses to full autonomy!
Just got the 2020 M3P - it's just a slayer!! 80mph + its acceleration normalises and in the cabin it can get a bit rattly ofc as it's not an suv build but anything prior to that mph the tesla m3p is so agile you can't go back to any other car afterwards, it is a race car with luxury and comfort included - it's not at all uncomfortable but ofc it comes a bit (truly not by boo much) short compared to citroen suspension for example - 0-60 never gets old and bedazzles you every time!! it's just simply a beast mode on wheels but the way you can swish and swoosh across lanes when traffic gets dense is just nothing short of stoopid fun - it never fails to put a smile on my face :D it's just a joyride one must experience and drive to understand.
Nice review. Though I think you should have just kept it positioned as a Shanghai spec / Aussie review. Why reference 2.9 secs and US credits when it doesn’t apply to you.
Stalks are a huge miss. Just like Hondas missing volume knob! Bring it back or make it an option like the wheel in the Plaid. Bring back the stalks Tesla!! 😮
minimally have? Left turn signal on left Right turn signal on right turn indicator most used buttons? perhaps move these buttons to back of these area… as the only, and Physical buttons
15:50 couto's to tesla for making a car that is so safe that it can keep occupants safe even going off a cliff, and having such good safety features... but this right here, is a huge example of the fact that no matter how many cameras, sensors, and tech your car has to make driving safer, if you're a shit driver, you're going to crash. and the thing is, we can eliminate most crashes on the road quite easily, and it doesnt require self driving cars to do it. simply make people require a certain level of skill before being issued a license. when i got my license, all i had to do was essentially drive around the block like a grandma. the hardest part was the 3 point turn inside the cones which if honestly would have been a lot easier without the cones because the cones were distracting to where you can actually turn. it should have just been a certain width space, and told to turn around in that space, only using 3 turns but i digress. we dont need fancy fsd and AI taking over driving for us to make the roads safer. just make people more skilled drivers so they dont drive off cliffs and crash in the first place. people in manual transmission cars dont crash more than people in automatics even though they're doing more. crash statistics havent gone that significantly down even with the vast improvement in security features and driver assistance features. its all about the operator of the vehicle, and the operator of other vehicles, not the vehicle itself that needs to change.
thanks for the review… brought new information though watched a few videos did Tesla reinstate the lunar support for the passenger seat? if not, do you think possible have installed!
I am sorry but i actually think it's much better than a model S, better design, lower weight, the interior is so perfect and minimal and because of that will never look dated, and all of this half the price of a model s plaid
Does anybody know why the european model of the Model 3 performace got a less powerful battery then the US model? Is this just temporary or is the EU model gona get the battery thats in the US model later on? I been watching video of both models when they test the acceleration and the US model is far superior.
@@JJ-we2mh How do you know certain that its not gona change? I know people here in europe complaining including me becuse this is a big factor when buying a performance car. I will not buy this car in Euro spec before they change to the US Panasonic battery..... The US Car is also faster then the Euro car in 0-100 km/h. Just watch the tests people do here on youtube using dragy or other good masurement tools.
