Exactly! We just need actions for each of the individual colors, also an action to apply a random color from the palette and an action for recolor the whole project. Boom this instantly becomes 1000x more useful. People could easily share their palettes and this would be a fun universal native thing!
The adjuster 7.0 is unstable. If you select the "Stretch Name " balancing method on the "Track Control" tab, then you have to adjust label length in the "Track Panel" every time.

Mmm, you’ve chosen one of the more tricky DAWs to get the hang of, but on the other hand, it’s very good once you get your head around it, and a ridiculously low price compared to the main commercial ones, so all in all, good choice! Enjoy the journey.
Note to everyone: the Theme adjuster can attempt to use these full controls for all themes based on Default 7 theme, you just need to ensure the filename of the theme you want to adjust begins with "Default_7.0_". (I have suggested a simple change to the script file that would allow us to put "Default_7" anywhere in the filename, which would be better for ease of use/management of multiple themes.) Also just be aware that if you have edited your theme's rtconfig it may behave unusually in some places.
@@abhicrax Tukan plugins have great UI for being JSFX plugins. The ReaPlugs are all legacy so I don't think they'll get updates. In future, the new stock plugins will most likely be JS plugins.
I paid for a Reaper license a few years ago just to pay them back for the year or two that I used it before moving to Studio One because I found it easier to use. S1’s been irritating me lately though and this new function may have just convinced me to move back to Reaper

I own studio one also (v5), and tho I like a lot of things...there are main 2 reasons I normally just use Reaper 95% of the time. The first is the navigation behavior/functionality navigating the timeline with a mouse (zoom, scroll, placing play marker, selecting items & item regions, ect.). Its just not nearly as intuitive in S1 as it is Reaper. And honestly the vast majority of my time is spent navigating around the timeline when editing and mixing, so spending extra time simply messing about just trying to move around and zero in on where/what I'm working on gets frustrating. The 2nd is more a plus for Reaper than a mark against Studio One, because most other daws function the same, but having only one kind of track that can be ANY kind of track is huge. A DAW isn't a hardware console, so there's no reason we should have to be locked into a "instrument/midi", or "audio", or "buss" track...ect. Not having set track functions makes things soooo much more flexible and hassle free. And the 3rd reason is I seem to get better cpu performance in Reaper. The sessions can be larger/denser before I start running into cpu problems.
I have the latest version of Reaper (7.17) but when I execute - options; themes; Theme Adjuster, I get the old Theme adjuster or am I missing something? Great video by the way explaining this new feature. I changed one of the themes to a Default_7 however, when I select the Theme Adjuster, it says on the top: Defauilt_6.0 theme adjuster. Please help in any way, thank you.
No. But I was able to solve this issue by uninstalling Reaper, then deleting the whole resource folder. Now a backup would be the wisest thing to do before you uninstall Reaper but once you delete the resource folder, then download and install the latest version of Reaper, then the problem will go away. You will have to reconfigure things since this will be a clean install, but the menu for the new Theme adjuster now works.
Just commented this: PSA: Anyone who cant find this, Change this first!! its in Options > Themes > change your theme to Default. THEN go to actions list and choose the Reaper 7 theme. YOU CANT USE THESE EDITORS WITH THE REAPERTIPS THEMES!!! or any other that im aware of.

@@ranajoyshil You miss the point. It's good to have options. I just wish they were configured into presets, so you can quickly change the configuration without having to tweak a dozen parameters.
Hi, I installed version 717 but it no longer displayed the VSTs!...I had to reinstall version 716, and everything went back to normal!!...how is this possible??...thanks
This has some weird things: - When swapping color palettes, yellow from palette #1 should be replaced by yellow of palette #2. Not just randomly. - TCP columns/areas should be transparent. Otherwise you end up with two colored strips and everything else just... gray. Awful. Can't think of a reason why they had it working correctly in 6 and downgraded to this.

Your theme is still the only one I use so this theme adjuster isn't really doing much at all for me (since it only applies to the default theme). Still, cool for people who like to use the default!

Also, i have a quick question 🙏 I'm writing cc events with my modwheel when I record an instrument, but it's recording in hundreds of steps, and I would like it to just add a linear cc event only at the end of my movements. I could have sworn you had a video on this, but i can't find it! I'd love either a pointer to the video or the name of the action please! 🙏
Great walkthrough, curious to play around with this. Though I still can't believe the absolutely bizarre direction they've chosen to go with ui, and what features are set as defaults. Your theme is still the cleanest out there.
I like these Color theme Upgrades alot however Im still waiting for an integrated Theme colored Clip launcher Ive gone over to Zenbeats this looks good tho
I'm frustrated that quite a few fonts are still not adjustable. Still tiny gray on gray letters that I need to get my face near the monitor to read. :(

Well, It's cool to have this kind of options but, knowing myself, this will distract me for a while until I get everything I want ... so, good addition but not for me, I love to keep things simple !
Great video! Having multiple columns of inserts and send in the tcp is great. I had to hack Walter to achieve that. It's so convenient to open any plugin in one click.
Super! Super! Super! Finally! Due to the lack of these settings, I used the default theme No. 6. One thing is missing - the ability to change the color of the text in the transport panel, the color of the counter. This text used to be green. Thanks!
Maybe the developers would be better to do a piano roll, and for example still make a normal Sampler? Working with ripper piano roll causes pain for thousands and thousands of users, it is absolutely terrible thing in which it is impossible to work quickly and with pleasure. And customization is absolutely not a deadly thing, especially customization of themes.
Every problem and pain with the piano roll of Reaper can be customized to your liking, that's the whole point of Reaper. I used to hate the reaper piano roll before as well after coming from FL, Ableton, but now it's literally my fav piano roll because of how fast I can work with it and how much I've customized it that it has surpassed everything FL, Ableton, Bitwig's, Logic piano roll can do, combined. I agree with the sampler part, it's a pretty powerful sampler if you know how to use it but wouldn't mind an improved sampler with more features and an improved UI as well.
Thanks for the video! I think I've messed up something with my Reaper and although I've just downloaded the latest version (v7.17), the default v7.0 theme is nowhere to be found! Is there something I might have done wrong? Maybe something with the extensions i've downloaded from time to time. Even the layout options I have look different than they look in your videos: mine say "aa---standard", "ab------standard sidebar" etc etc.... Any tips...?
Hello! That's odd 🤔 installing the latest should include the default theme as an option. So when clicking "Default" in your list of themes, does v7 theme not show?

@@Reapertips now that I was lucky enough to get your attention, and although this is not the right place to ask this (couldn't find a relevant video!), I want to ask you one more thing that I think would be very useful in reaper and doesn't seem to exist: A mix buss! A stereo track where all new tracks are automatically routed to and then this track sends to the master. This would be helpful when using a reference track for example: You could listen to your mix with all your processing and the reference track (sitting outside the mix buss, going straight to the master track) without any additional processing. The only way I've found is by creating a folder and manually putting all tracks in it, but I'm sure there is/could be a more automated way to start/open projects with a default mix buss, other than the master track. Any thoughts?
hey man, any idea how to get the default theme adjuster that shows in the menu to be the version 7 one? i did something at some point and it defaults me to an old theme adjuster when i open it. I can run the version 7 from the actions menu, but i have no idea how to change the default
@jurgenvogel1150 ya I think you might be right. I tried a few custom ones i had and none of them seemed to work outside the default which is too bright for me lol thanks!
If you can change the color of envelopes, that alone is a huge plus, because the default ones (especially the dark green volume envelope on a grey background) are very hard to see.
Ahh those you are able to change via the action: "Theme development: Show theme tweak/configuration window" - In the filter, type "Envelope" and you can change the color of any envelope line in there. Remember if you make some changes in here, to use the "Save theme..." button so you don't lose the changes. Another cool thing: you can also map specific colors to specific parameters via Preferences > Envelope colors
the Theme Adjuster seems to only be able to customize the color of EVP (envelope control panel), the color of actual envelope has been customizable since the first release of REAPER 7 via the Preferences

I honestly... agree. REAPER is currently looking pretty bad out of the gate. I even made a whole video addressing that recently. Tho I think once you find a theme or configuration you like, it makes you so happy! It feels like your very own thing, plus with all the amazing REAPER functionalities and performance, is such a blast. Definitely not for everyone, and it's totally cool if Bitwig/Reason is more fitting to you. I love them too!
@@Reapertips Yeah, I used to get into all that messing around, but it's ridiculous now the amount of customisation you can do, and it never looks right. Reaper has a veneer of clunky Windows 95 about it, no matter the skin. At its core it's a good, basic program with excellent performance.
No one can deny that reaper is rock solid in terms of stability. Think of it like... Wife material. You can go for the girl in the red dress but it's a whole lot of maintenance. Reaper might not be the best looking lady in the room, but you'll have a soul mate for life 🤣
