Agreed, preventing wear on your knob is important

Came off the MX33's as I wasn't a huge fan of the front tire. I felt they were inconsistent in corners, and didn't really give me the Lean angle I wanted. I went to the Stacross 6 tires Med-Hard, and rode those in everything from loamy muddy conditions to dry hard pack. I found the front tire consistency is more predictable, and the wear was very good. The front does have a tendency to push a bit, but in a quite controlled manner. The rear, to be honest I felt was very good, but no improvement over the MX33 from dunlop. Lots of traction, and the bike would pull out of the deepest and muddiest tracks. The Med-Hard did get a little packed between the knobs in the greasy peanut buttery stuff, but overall I'm very impressed. Fave tires so far. Would love to try the med soft next. From what I can see the difference is just the knob spacing.

Love my Starcross 5’s and will get these.

My Starcross 5's were pretty smoked after 50 hours, at least my rear one. One of the side knobbies were starting to come off the tire and I don't ever ride on pavement since it's obviously hard on MX tires. They performed pretty well anyway, a little wheel spin here and there but nothing crazy. I switched to Dunlops last year and felt a little more grip but it wasn't a dramatic difference. I would definitely try Starcross 6's after my tires need to be changed again.
