I actually just bought this deck (sans the Prime Catcher) for only about 35 USD, and I'm super excited to play it in paper. Hitting hard and fast with a big single prize Basic gives me big nostalgia of the Base Set Haymaker days, and the self-mill/self-discard playstyle is right up my alley because that's what I really like playing in MTG. I did consider picking up Ancient Box but opted for Roaring Moon to keep things a little simpler by sticking to a monotype Energy base and to be able to take advantage of Dark Patch in addition to Sada's Vitality

I was honestly afraid of playing this deck because it seemed a bit complicated, but your video made me try it and now, after learning the basics and how it works, i find it really fun. Amazing video and thank you for sharing your knowledge with us

I played this at locals and ran into Espathra and Scovillain...2 grass type attackers (got donked by the Scovillain, with only a Moon ex in the active). Yeeeah....that's the kind of luck i've been having lately.

I'm in the process of building a RM list in paper, and I saw this Ribombee card in a pack the other day. It's a S1 evolution, but let's you take 2 add'l prizes with a KO next turn, and RM guarantees a KO. I like to tinker and catch people by surprise, would Ribombee work?

Ribombee being a stage 1, doing an entire turn where you’re not inflicting damage, and the effect can be nullified with a switch make Ribombee basically unplayable.

Interesting. That's not how i, or a local pokemon LGS judge, interpreted it at first glance. The arguments against the Ribombee trigger is that retreating wipes attack effects away. The wording on the card is very vague. I don't play online, so my learning is very manual. I gotta investigate more, thanks for the link!

Would Cheren's Care make sense for Roaring Moon Ex? For after using his KO attack (and getting 200 dmg on it). Edit: I guess Penny is basically just as good. But there is only 1 in this deck. Wondering your thoughts on adding more (or Cheren's Care).

Cheren’s Caren only works for colourless Pokemon. Can’t use it to pick up Roaring Moon because it’s dark type.

Im currently building myself a deck based on this version of the deck and a bit of the old roaring moon deck for a no regulation competition. It includes the moltres plus all 4 baby moons

I wanted to build the pre-rotation version with Moltres but couldn’t pull it all together in time. I now have the Dudunsparce build minus Prime Catcher.

The Dudunsparce build has been the best performing Roaring Moon ex build to-date, including top 8 appearances at Perth, Orlando, and EUIC. The “classic” build with Mew and Squakabilly is still floating around (Luke Kirkham 66th EUIC limitlesstcg.com/decks/list/10665) but it doesn’t have the momentum of the Dudunsparce build.

chien pao definitely had game? they superior energy retrievaled 4 water energy + the one energy on greninja. that’s 5 energies. 5 x 60 = 300

They didn’t have game. They had 3 prizes remaining. Roaring Moon ex is 2, but they also power up Vengeance Fletching by 20 with that KO, sending me even closer to a 1-hit KO on Chien-Pao for game on the next turn. If I were Chien-Pao I would have done the attack anyway and saw whether Roaring Moon could get more ancient cards in the discard pile to end the game.
