To date, Toyota has sold over 70 million electrified vehicles, but they've virtually all been hybrids. This bZ4X mid-sized SUV is the brand's first purpose-built EV. Since its engineering draws on over two decades of electrified automotive experience, you'd expect it to be a very complete product indeed. You shouldn't be disappointed.
What kind of purpose-built EV might the world's biggest car maker bring us? Here's the answer - the bZ4X, Toyota's first all-new Battery Electric Vehicle. Silly name perhaps, but this car has a very serious remit.
It's the first in what will be a whole series of 'bZ' (or 'beyond Zero')-branded Toyota electric products to be launched globally - thirty of them between now and 2030. The less-than-catchy name references the size of car ('4' designates the brand's mid-sized models) - and the vehicle type (in this case 'X' for Crossover/SUV).
We certainly waited long enough for this contender. Given that Toyota's been making electrified vehicles for over a quarter of a century and experimented with a full-electric concept version of the RAV4 as long ago as 1997, it was surprising that this bZ4X took so long to arrive. It didn't actually go on sale here until the end of 2022, the launch delayed by a detaching wheel hub scandal that the brand took months to fix.

i own the limited one and absolutely love it, its better then a lexus hybrid i got for my wife...as a pure ev car its way behind competition but as a solid enjoyable car its right there on top..lots of space, heavy and solid specially for rough weather with grip control and deep snow modes, looks good in limited and has a nice torque

Don’t know why all the negative on this car , I’ve had one for 4 months love it extremely comfortable quite super ride very economical 150 miles cost £2.50 with intelligent octopus go brilliant

Toyota do not believe ev is the future, they are concentrating on there Hydrogen engines.

That's not accurate. First of all, hydrogen FCEVs are EVs. Just not battery EVs, BEVs. That's what the Mirai is. Second, Toyota gave a leadership conference with Sato and two other top executives and they are going to make 10 BEVs by 2026 and then make a brand new more efficient platform from 2026. Toyota will still offer HEVs, PHEVs--where they are trying to get to 100 miles of range, then BEVs, FCEVs, hydrogen cars as well. Toyota isn't just concentrating on hydrogen, they're concentrating on various types of propulsion systems under the overall aim of carbon neutrality.

Finally an honest review. BZ4X is a joke of an EV so far behind the competition. They only did this to comply with the the EU mandate. Unless you are 70 years or older, stay away from this POS. BTW, I own a Polestar 2 (my favorite) and a model 3

Toyota are the largest vehicle producer in the world. They know that EVs are not the future and I agree with them. This ev is just to keep their hand in. Serious investment from Toyota will be in hydrogen and more efficient hybrid vehicles. Honda are probably thinking along the same lines.

@@konsen6149 don't think so. Bev's are not the future. Think that the businessmen and engineers at Toyota know what they are doing. That's what makes Toyota the biggest vehicle manufacturer in the world. Also technically and due to Toyota's dominance in the reliability stakes their future is pretty sound.

@@bondjamesbond9041 Toyota bullshit reliability . Toyota parts are not lasting only thing that parts are available cheap and aplenty for constant replacement without delays . As for older models of Toyota spare parts are hard to come by except sourcing thru many wreckers. Toyota built it's reputation thru copying and improvise by reverse engineering for improvement. Toyota is also the biggest auto debtor auto maker in the world beside VW. The world is moving thru EV . Reliability on ICE will soon be a thing in the psst not the future. Toyota engineers said solid state battery was the way forward previously but what happen then Furthermore, production of hydrogen fuel whether green,gray or blue apparently required high usage of energy which relatively not cheap compare to renewable energies . The way Toyota is moving is losing lots of market share from now till 2027. A lot of other EV brands would have got taken more market share with revised better battery than any Toyota offering by then . Toyota = New Kodak in the making

Hydrogen will be a large truck And bus investment and Cars just don't work. If EVs are not the future poor old Norway which is 95% EV already with most of Europe going the same way poor old china with there over 200 EV start ups . Poor old VW with there giga factory investments and poor old BMW with there entire fleet going electric. Japan will become good large vehicle makers with hydrogen . Shame Honda and Toyota are amazing Auto makers refusing to go with everyone else.
