I just got the 2023 brz last month. How long does it take for the aftermarket to develop? I’m happy with the HP but want to max it out in the future (sustainably) maybe around 300 HP?
Thank you for the kind words and thanks for watching!! I totally fell in love with the GR86 after seeing all the options - such a good looking chassis!
My man, you killed it with the footage and commentary!! So many killer 8-6s!! I am a "mo-powa baby!!" kinda guy. Thanks so much for the hours and hours of footage you went through to give this to us!!!👏🤙👍👍 @12:00 the Yoko/Advan booth the rear ducktail was modded like an old school Porsche slantnose whaletail!! So dope!! Im debating on BRZ-GR86 for canyon carving & track days. Wanting a Porsche GT4 or C8 Z06 but have to wait until I get 40-60% down so I will buy an 86 and supercharge it, and rip it until I get the funds in for the Z06 or GT4. Small & light weight cars are perfect. My 16 ATSV is fast and fun but a fricking pig at 3700#'s
@@boywonderrr71 yoooooo, I really appreciate the love man! That really means a lot!🙏🙏 After seeing them done up in so many different ways, I'm really in love with the chassis. Partial to the 86 but can't go wrong with either. Such good looking cars. The GT4 and C8 are likely amazing but the joy a simple lightweight car can bring is pretty special! Enjoy it and thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!👏👏
Thanks for this. I'm a fan of the "light tune" looks for a car like this -- a working man's sports car. But, I will say the full builds and race builds are awesome.
I love the new GR86 look I can’t wait to test drive one and get a hold of one but I hope they get some kind of aftermarket tail lights idk why but I’m not a huge fan of the tail lights but everything else is perfect
I hadn't paid attention really to the tails at all...but now that you've said that, that's all I'm going to look at! 😂 No doubt there will be some good options coming. Thanks for watching and enjoy the car!
I hate that i just finished turbocharging my '17 brz but now im seriously considering parting out and getting a GR x.x. I hated the way it looked when they first came out but seeing them moded, they look so clean
@@BRICKHOUSESPL it’s basic for sure but functional. I mainly wanted to see it because I will be running the same tyres, tyre size and wheel specs as that one soon haha. But I love the details you went into for every other vehicle!
Thx for the video very helpfull for me. I plan buy one gr86 but in my country too dificult to get aftermarket like hks cusco tom greedy. We must pivate import
Way too basic kits out right now Thanks for posting this solidified my decision to add power soon as tuning is out along with prioritizing suspension and brake mods over any aero mod aside from a tasteful looking wing
That HKS ally oil tank is the resevoir for the centrifugal supercharger. Really loving the Mk2 86 platform, although I'm still a fan of the Mk1 as well. Awesome cars. Get too much hate for their "low power"
Nice eye! Man, at the time I couldn't make sense of it! And for sure, they're both great platforms. I think they really made some big positive moves in the right direction with the new one in terms of looks and power, but yeah, some people really got hung up on their power output and boxer configuration.
@@BRICKHOUSESPL yeah there's such an obsession with power nowadays that a light nimble chassis with moderate power got lost on many. Funnily enough those people are probably fans of the AE86 but don't realise that the 4AGE is also a low output motor, unless you through 80psi at it lol
The FA24 must have the strangest exhaust manifold and dump pipe set up with that turbo location. I’d like to see it all off the car and in its mess. Straight blocks are so much easier in tight space
Yeah, boxer engines are big and wide and result in a huge turbo manifold with two exhaust ports pointing down next to each strut tower. No where to tuck the turbo conveniently.
The stock side skirts and rear spoiler can be removed, so that should make installing new side skirts and spoilers super easy. Someone should be able to create an OEM look by doing that, or they can tack on additions like carbon accents. This seems like it is overlooked, but this is big. No need to mold side skirts or tack on a huge side skirt on top of the stock side skirt. They can be replaced all together, and then some carbon fiber aero can be added or not too.
Oh wow, I had no idea. That's really cool! That seems like it would certainly be the way to go but probably more costly to manufacture to match up to the mounting points versus going right over the top? Thanks for sharing!
the BLITZ front bumper gives me aggressive tesla vibes lol. Great vid! Love seeing all the aero kits they have already, makes me even more excited for my GR
100%! When I was watching it back editing, I was getting Tesla vibes just couldn't place it at the time. You should be excited - they look amazing! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching! I would speculate in the range of their other Super Edge Aero kits since it's fenders as well as aero. For the no rivets, I'm just guessing but this might actually be the plug that the mold will be made from. Not finished parts. He got the car a few weeks before auto salon and his IG looked like he was working on the shape up until the last minute before getting it wrapped. So all the final details might take a while to come out yet.🤷
You'll have to check with your local dealers for local costs or, if you need help buying parts from Japan, contact me via the contact form on www.nerdgold.jp
Sorry, I wish I would have looked more for numbers! I don't know why I overlooked that 😅 but definitely curious how far the new engine can be pushed reliably!
@@johnrooney507 I made a post on here looking at the different options with numbers. Should be in the community or posts tab of my channel a few posts back. But all the kits are based on the FA20 version so overall power is likely on par with previous GT86/BRZ just with a shift in the power and due to the extra displacement.
Speak for yourself, don't know where you live but here in the states the car alone is alreay going for Dealership's Rape prices of high 30k to mid 40K. And to top that off with your sti crap-on, will probably bring it closer to somewhere in th 50k area. (FAR from poor man's).
👏Give us Japanese site links for these companies mods please! Back in 2000 I had a Japanese friend who translated and got me STi v5 parts for my 2.5 RS. It was so cool to get JDM STI option mods from companies no one had heard about back then. Like Cusco Sti Alloy non adjustable tower mounts F/R. Sti spec dual KG/MM race spring (defunct), JDM Sti short shifter kits, underdrive pullys, solid Sti mount kit underbrace kits with solid bushings (the whole car). Fog light and headlamp adapter(could turn on fog lamps with out headlamps and head lamps were glass not plastic and circle ⭕️ inside😁) Full Sti down pipesFold down seat, with emergency trunk release and light. Only spent $5000 on all these mods direct mail order from Japan! Heck I forgot the Antilift kit with alloy control arms and alloy adjustable links(experimental Cusco). Didn’t install links... Was scared of these, too many options to adjust and not enough time or places to test. Sold car to friend he crashed it 4 months later in California🙄 Fell asleep at the wheel, the purr of the engine massaged him to sleep😢 he got a 2004 Wrx afterwards. He hated every second he drove the WRX he said 🤣🤣🤣🤣 he missed the GC8 body’s handling 😢😁🤣 Mee too!
GC8's are definitely cool! That's a bummer the car ended up getting wrecked so soon...that always seems how it goes. I had a similar situation with a car I sold. Googling the brand names of the comapnies in the video should get you to the website, but the easiest route would be to hit up Mastermind North America to order. They bring in all the big brands from Japan and can probably help the most with ordering new aero, wheels, seats, etc.
@@BRICKHOUSESPL Thank you, Thank U!!! I am split between the 2022 Datsun Z and Gz86! The GR I would have to go with a small to mid turbo, aero kit and smaller inch wider wheels and try out Sachs suspension kit 🤔 Also I’ve got young kids I could throw in the back. “Dad there is no room back here” , “Son when I was your age I had to walk 10 blocks to catch a bus in 2 feet of snow Blab, Blab, Blab...😄” Although the Nissan has sooo much power🤔😁
@@BRICKHOUSESPL 🤔 one more mod I noticed. I was watching Keiichi Tsuchiya (The guy from “Best of Motoring”) track the car. The BRZ has a different rear swaybar link position than the Gr86 (can’t do much about that). Also the big knuckles behind the front rotors are Alloy on the BRZ, GR86 is steel 🤔 Now that is an easy swap mod for the GR86👍 An alloy knuckle would save 6 pounds of unsprung weight on a 20 pound part each front wheel 😁 He also agreed the next version of all JDM would be hybrids 😒😞 He is an insider and knows all the heads of Nissan, Toyota Mazda, ect. He even grew up with some of the CEO and engineers. He said “...in this situation” (meaning pressure to go hybrid) he was pleased they were able to make these cars and happy he had a hand in it. So u were correct... “this is the golden era for these 1990 ‘s (2022) cars” 😁👍
Being that it was a kit from TOM'S, I was surprised as well it didn't have a more refined look to it. It looked like something more in the testing/prototype phase.
I dont know why but those squared off pandem fenders just seem odd to me. I know it was a call out to the new look subrau seems to be going with their newer cars but dunno....
HKS' widebody version is a really good look for sure. It's impressive that one company is so good and so many different things! And yeah, I think Pandem falls into the like it or not category. I dig it but when there's such drastic changes over stock lines I thinks that just the nature of it.
@@CrazyCat229 nice! This and the new Z are the first two new cars I've gotten genuinely excited about. The new Z more for the engine potential than styling.
Haha, which level of Kuhl are you going with?? Lip, extreme, or more extreme? Haha. And if serious, I think @mastermind_north_america on IG is the plug!
@@BRICKHOUSESPL OOh thank you for the info! Ill check them out, I like the stock body and it already has room for some negative offset wheels so probably the lip kit and the wing
Yeah, I would say the majority are for looks and limited to the parameters of what makes for decent street car use. But that said, there's legit aero companies like Voltex (GReddy), Varis, HKS like you said, and maybe STi and Tom's who have the experience and resources to make something functional. Although, I think looking cool on the street and not be a headache to drive around was the goal for most.
The more I see the GR 86 the more it grows on me, it has so much potential. I just wish it came with a turbo option and it was an actual Toyota engine, if those things were there I’d have a lease out right now
I hear you. The boxer isn't what I'm used to, but from what I've seen it seems like the bump to a 2.4L helped a lot so hopefully they've made strides in terms of NA feeling and bolt-on turbo power holding capacity.
Definitely noticed that as well. Not sure the reason why...maybe Toyota/Gazoo Racing has the bigger marketing budget to help get the GR86's into more parts producers hands?
@@killer2miller23 Possibly! There's a reason for it but I'm just not sure! Haha. The GR86 name is fresh and new versus the BRZ; especially with the big push GR has done in the past few years with the Yaris and such. So maybe a big mix of everything.
Who cares about all these things for the car when we have a major engine issue.... I have to drop the oil pan at every oil change to check for silicone blockage in the oil sump.... This was caused by Subaru not using gaskets....IM SO SCREWED....WTFFFFF
It's nice to have the option available for those who want more jam. Tuning, ECUs, and understanding of tuning has come a long way from what it used to be, so compression is a factor but safe and smart tuning is equally important. Dropping compression used to be the way to increase safety margin. Now it can be done through fuels like E85 and such. No more AFCs and rising rate FMUs trying to make things work. haha
@@angrywargamer8836 it has a lot more knock protection versus premium pump gas. Kind of acts like race fuel so you can get more aggressive with the tune with safer.
Pretty sure that's just wrapped over the prototype wide body. He was so short on time getting to the show, I think that was the actually "kit" he was still shaping not a production piece or paint.
Haha. Yeah, someone else pointed that out too and, to be honest, I never knew there was a technical difference in the terminology. But that's what's fun about making these, I always learn something new! 💪 Thanks for taking the time to let me know.🙏
