It’s the first time we have got this old Russian tractor out and working. The last time it was out and about was for my dads funeral. We were a bit nervous about using it , but it seemed the best tractor to help us with muck spreading. It’s the one John used for the job. It is a 4wd tractor. You can see my dad talk about it and all of his collection of tractors in this video

I never realised that watching muck spreading would be so entertaining, but it really was! This is fantastic organic nourishment for the soil and encourages many earth worms to the surface and aerate the soil. This muck can only be described as black gold nourishment. Well done to you both. Ye must be the talk of the local farming community regarding how well ye are managing since your wonderful Dad died.
@DaleFarm
@DaleFarm Год назад
Thank you Noel, I’m so pleased you enjoyed it and thank you for taking the time to leave such a kind comment. Yes the muck should naturally enhance the grass so that’s a win - it’s definitely black gold! X

When loading muck pick up one of those silage bales on the rear spike. It'll take the pressure off the front axle and make your tractor more stable.
@DaleFarm
@DaleFarm Год назад
Thank you, the Belarus 952 is pretty good with front end load we have done heaps of work with it developing the campsite
@elginsparrowhawk7203
@elginsparrowhawk7203 Год назад
I don’t think a Belarus is a light tractor and probably stable enough as it is. However loaders in general do add stress and wear to the front axle, even with an empty bucket.

Definately a good thing to keep all your tractors in regular use.........honestly it's the worse thing you can do to them is just to park them up and never use them ......everything will just seize up on them .that dungspreader is probably the most profitable piece of machinery you got on the farm as you say artificial fertiliser is rediculous money so a good old coating of muck is the best thing by far. I've been busy muckspreading aswell lately ......it's been ideal weather for it

Good work Joanna. You both persevered, overcame the challenges and completed the job. Well done. Love the sound of Belarus tractors. We bought a Belarus 920 brand new back in 1992 as a general purpose chore tractor. It was used for so many different jobs from hay work, spraying, grain processing, earthworks etc. We sometimes used it for planting alongside the CaseIH tractors when we had enough people there to help. Following the Owner's Manual maintenance program to the letter, we did over 6000 trouble-free hours with it. We sold it to a bloke 2 years ago and replaced it with a New Holland. I saw the Belarus a couple months ago and its still going strong. A very underrated machinery brand. Great to see them working. Top vid Joanna.

That muck will be a big help to the land 👍 Not sure if ye have similar rules in the UK as we have in Ireland, but I'm fairly confident it is very similar. If there are any highly stocked dairy farms in the area, or even pig farms, ye might be able to get some slurry from them. Highly stocked farms can have limits put on them for the amount of organic fertilizer/nitrogen they are allowed to use on their own land. This would limit their stock numbers, so sometimes they export that to lightly stocked farms in order to keep under limits.
@georgedoorley5628
@georgedoorley5628 Год назад
only exported on paper .............
@tipperarymick5337
@tipperarymick5337 Год назад
@@georgedoorley5628 Sometimes, but I know a few who export slurry, and one who exports the farmyard manure back to the tillage farmer he gets his straw from. A win win for both of them.

We don’t want to preach, just worried about your safety - the plastic pto cover shouldn’t be going around, there should be a safety chain attached from the pto cover on the dung spreader which goes onto the pto cover of the tractor, all just in case you get near it and get caught up in it. I hope that makes sense, my husband was trying to explain it to me. You’re doing a great job 👍

put a round bale on the back of the loader tractor for ballast & better for weight on tractor plus easier on the front axle. Don't have muck spreader to close to heap to give you chance to man -hoover. Fill either end, then the middle. Have you oil the chain under the front cover & greased, very overlooked part.

Got the same mtz 52 but with a different cab, good old tool, everything is fixable. If you want to see what work it's done there is a hour meter at the front of the engine. Just look behind the altinator just behind the fan.

Hiya Joanna & Nick, Great video, again, thank you. The fact staring me in the face is; you did manage it. You two together have got the two tractors running and the right implement on the front. Got the spreader up and running, and you are spreading muck. Does your mum remember a song from a few hundred years ago, 'He's a champion muck spreader.' Well, I do, obviously, and it is running through my head as we watch the two of you spreading muck like the champions you are. Very Well Done! Stay safe, Steve xx

Hi Steve! Thank you, yes we did it! Overcoming challenges really is satisfying! I will have to ask my mum about any songs, although my uncle more likely would know that sort of thing!

Best fertiliser is manure. I have done the sums and currently buying fertiliser for hay making land isn't worth it. The extra tonnage of hay you'll yeald will cover the cost of the fertiliser. If the weather is bad you'll have lost money.

Super muck spreading. You need to fill the spreader more even
@phil6465

Not really. I seem to think that that is how you are supposed to fill it. The idea is the outer beaters have room to start spreading.

Do you have much white clover (nitrogen fixing) in your grassland? If not you could spread some clover/ grass seeds mix in your fertiliser spreader followed by chain harrowing. Also a grassland aerator can improve the sward. Do you have your soil tested? Might indicate what it needs.
@DaleFarm
@DaleFarm Год назад
We will probably get some soil testing done , we do have white clover and pink clover - some fields have more than others ! Thank you, these are good suggestions x
@elginsparrowhawk7203
@elginsparrowhawk7203 Год назад
@@DaleFarm Pink!! I may be wrong but there’s two types of clover, white ( Trifolium repens) and red ( Trifolium pratense)Might be hybrid/cross pollinated but the red variety does look pink. I think red is native and the white is an import.

Well done for learning your way into the job and perseverance... that's the way too learn really ..nothing beats experience... om a side note for your grass growth ...if your father didn't spread any fertilizer your land may benefit from getting a contractor in and giving it a shot of either lime or basic slag ...both of which are high in trace elements and may nourish your land but at a fraction of the price of prilled fertilizer...just a thought...anyway keep up the good work and looking forward too the next video

Hi Alan, thanks for the advice - yes we are new to all the land management stuff , so have been talking about soil testing , could be a worthwhile investment And yes you are absolutely right about the lime spreading x

In your first muck spreading someone suggested selling some of your tractors.Well they were your Dads and I think he had plans for adding more(T250?) There the Dale farm classic tractor collection and belong at your farm.I wouldn’t sell any unless it was absolutely necessary. The MTZ 52 super handles that spreader OK, if your happy to do the muck spreading I would keep doing it. You might need some ear defenders. The muck looks good quality and well rotted, the amount you have spread looks fine to me. You could get a bit more in the spreader and if you look inside it at each end you will see the starter fails ( I would be surprised if it hasn’t got any).Like animals machines,tractors and muck spreaders etc need regular health (maintenance) checks. Your both doing great!

Built for hard work and with minimal maintenance time, bomb-proof Eastern Bloc engineering. The late Graham Goodall, from up at Middleton by Pommy, of Trabant collecting fame, once told me that: "Eastern Bloc mechanicals were designed to get poorly paid workers to badly equipped, dangerous factories on time, regularly, and as cheaply as possible; which they did: while mechanicals in the West are all designed to consume capital as much, and as often as possible..." And don't they just!
