Hi I’m Joanna and I’m sharing with you my farming life! Living and working in the countryside of Derbyshire UK. From my family farm in Great Longstone. I balance / juggle farming with my job as a camp site manager. My interests are fitness, mindfulness, healthy living and adventures.
Highland cows are amazing!!! A sunny day at Dale Farm in spring is very cool... They are beautiful lands! As always, congratulations on the video Joanna!!👌🏼💚💚
It is clear that in agriculture and livestock, pests and diseases are a great challenge... sometimes very difficult to face!! You always do the most!! An example Joanna!!💪👌🏼🙌
Congratulations Joanna for your beautiful video and the effort you put into Dale Farm!! In spring those landscapes are beautiful and lambing must be a very nice experience 💚🙌👌🏼
With the huge changes in the past couple of years, not to mention the work load, I'd wondered if I was going to be tuning in to an episode where Nick had either given up and left, or had proposed. Glad to see it was the latter. All the best. Couldn't be happier.
Hi Glad that you are spending more time with the highlands. I looked after a highland herd which I got to be quite tame. I used a battery clipper to shave along their spines in spring , in the field and they stood very content and happy to be clipped. also applied medication at the same time . I found it really rewarding. good luck!
Hey what’s the go with the young heifers, they all look about the same age but some have horns and some don’t. Have been bred like that with poll genetics. Thanks for the video
Congratulations on getting that done, and the relief that comes with TB testing. I really like how you and Nick are working very well together, and the thinking process that both of you take before undergoing something like moving cows or bulls. Nick is becoming quite the cowboy. 😊
Great to see that Lambing is complete & the TB Testing is pleasing news & that the Highlands walking down the lane loving the Cow Parsley have been made comfortable with human interaction & Frances the Bull doing his bit for the soon to be Calf population !!! Your imaging is excellent could be Oil Paintings Best Wishes Joanna & Nick David xx
It's interesting here in the US tb testing is every 5 years and the vet I worked for would test on the side of the tail head. We also only tested dairy cattle.
Some good news there and the weather easing off. I am sure you two could just do with a nice fortnight holiday Joanna, but chance would be a fine thing. At least get yourselves a little chill time if possible.
Thank you, we hope to get a few days at the end of June 😀 it’s definitely needed. This week it’s bank holiday / half term madness on the campsite !! Never much time for a rest here !
Thank you so much xxx white thorn is a good name, we also have a pink hawthorn which I love but not any of it on the farm. When the white blossom falls off the trees it’s like snow
