Hello and welcome to my review of the new Street Triple RS 765!
Apologies for the tardiness in this video, but it took a very long time to edit for reasons that will become clear, and also in the meantime, my wife and I have had another son. At this moment in time he is 4 weeks old!
Thank you for watching. Please like, comment, share and SUBSCRIBE.
If you have any questions please do make comments below.
EDIT: The Street Triple RS has 123 BHP, NOT 128... Thank you.
Thank you to Herts Triumph for yet again letting me ride one of their top models! It's just a pity that the Triumph Underwear company don't let me do the same with their models!
Anyway, thank you again for watching!
If you like what I do and would like to support the UK Air Ambulance Service, then all my merchandise profits go to those charities and none to me!
Please see the links below.
Tally Bally Ho and see you all again as soon as I am let out again!

That’s the best Street Triple 765 review yet. I’ve seen lots as well. Very real world, answering every question I wanted answers too as well as many points I didn’t think of. Nice to hear from a very experienced rider. Thank you. Subscribing now and bigs thumbs up.

@@CaptainRambunctious That is so funny .. I did not take the moment to look over at the date on the clip you were having so much fun .Plus Zack Courts at Revzilla just had a look at the new RS yesterday .What an amazing rider he is .. There is so much personality to different rides .. It would be fun if there was an organization you could pay to drive different bikes each week for the joy of it ..I guess that is what motor vlogging is all about of the companies will lend you a bike :) ...

I am a proud owner of the silver ice version of the RS and must say that Triumph NAILED IT AGAIN!!! The only thing I added (aside from the fender eliminator) was a Yoshimura ALPHA-T slip-on. Oh my - what a difference!!! Thanks for the great review Capt.! You captured the excitement and vibe of this amazing machine!

Congratulations on the new co-pilot Captain. So the evolution of the hooligan marches on with a capacity increase & more besides (i'm now refering to the bike) I know some of the forum members wanted more from their next Streety, looks like this one delivers big time !

Thanks Russ. Yes, it really does.. Feels better than the daytona and more comfortable than the outgoing street. Hard to imagine but it really does handle so much better. As flickable, if not a little more, and yet more planted and less flighty... Love it.

Underrated channel and video. Very very thorough. Just how I love it. Love the Britishness and the humor, even though I'm of Russian descent. The finest British engineering, will definitely be getting one this summer provided they have enough stock, or in the autumn if they don't haha. Cannot wait to have a full system and Yoshi or a scorpion GP end can on it as well!

The July issue of Cycle World gives a quarter mile time of 10.89 seconds @125.74 mph for the new 'R' model and I think the RS model has around 6 more horses. But it is the sport-bike chassis and superb handling that makes the Street Triple worth the extra money over cheaper competitors. My modded 2010 STR (linear shock linkage, Ohlins TR805 shock, Arrow 3-1, QuickShifter, SuperSprox 520 conversion with +2T rear sprocket etc) is so fast and fine-handling that it is very close to the new RS so no need to upgrade to the new one. Excellent review btw!

I bought the street scrambler in November 17 and already needing to replace it, can’t be doing with the struggles it has to get passed chavs texting in their cars at 70mph. So the options I have within the dealership are quite vast. Watched a review on this bike by the brilliant TMF and Chaseontwowheels but this one my friend seals the deal. The direct references to the scrambler have helped also as the points you make are ones I can fully relate to. Cheers mannie, hope the new baby is well :)

New subscriber to your channel. Cheers from across the pond! I really enjoy your content and looking forward to your next uploads. I recently bought a 2017 Thruxton R (my first Triumph). I love this bike so much I would park it in my family room at night so I could keep looking at it (if the wife would have it. She caught me in the garage last night staring at it. She asked "what are you doing? I said "just admiring" she laughed at me for 10 minutes). My Thruxton keeps stalling at red lights but the dealership said the first service will take care of that (with the Vance and Hines mapping). Anyway, more vids Captain! :)

I found out years ago the addictive nature of the Speed Triple in terms of power and sound was a poor fit for my personality. I turned into a very anti social person always riding too fast and too aggressively so I will stick with the Thruxton R . The R is great fun, superb handling and a lovely sound without turning myself into an ass.

Missed ya buddy. Congrats to you and the wife. Thanx for adding another bloody Triumph to my want but can't afford list. lol. I'd probably go for the R as I like the screen but don't really need all the track mode stuff. Nope, changed my mind. I like the belly pan, LED indicators and the other stuff you only get on the RS, plus the colours on the R all have red frames which I don't like. The silver RS is the mutts nuts. Mute point though as Euromillions keep pulling out the wrong bloody balls. lol

Firstly, congrats on the birth of your second child. Now, onto the review. The bike, and a lot of the other modern bikes out there, are a marked improvement, all things considered, over where bikes were when I started riding consistently about 18 years ago. The availability of modes, convenience, and sheer performance, as well as the balance, handling, and capabilities of the machines themselves is nothing less than mind boggling. The real issue is that pesky decal, that can turn into a much more expensive proposition when having to explain yourself to the local authorities. For most of us, it is the one thing that keeps us riding the more classic iron. Age, as well, plays a factor in this. In my mid 50s, my reflexes and vision are not what they used to be. I could easily get myself into circumstances well beyond my own control on something like that, even with great restraint. For about the past year and a half, I have been riding the 2013 Triumph Thunderbird. The bike is a beast, but it is really a nice alternative to some of the other heavy cruisers. I put over 6000 miles on it in that time, and it was relatively trouble free, with the exception of a stepper motor which was replaced under warranty. The thing is, I already have a heavy cruiser in a Harley FLHR. So, I gave some serious thought to the Bonnevilles, and test rode the T-120, which I absolutely adored. However, being slightly upside down on the Bird, trading at that time wasn't feasible. I also got a great look at the new Scrambler, which was really the bike of the line I was interested in. Beautiful machine, and maybe one day in the future... I then stopped by my local Harley dealer, and got the opportunity to ride a used 2016 Roadster. The Roadster is very similar to the Sportster, but has a lot of differences, including the brakes, and suspension. The Harley dealer then offered me 2K off of MSRP on a new bike, and offered to take the Triumph in trade. Long story short, I am now the proud owner of a NOS 2016 Roadster, and have about 600 miles on the clock. Pound for foot pound, it is plus or minus about 1 unit in comparison to the T-120, but there are a lot of differences. But after having a 99 Sporty, and two different Buells, I just felt at home on the bike. So, alas, I have returned to the Harley fold. I have thoroughly enjoyed your Triumph reviews, and if I am allowed to stay, shall continue to be a subscriber. I find your videos thoughtful and entertaining, and whether I own one or not, will always be a fan of the Triumph. I am happy to see that the company has come so far in such a short period of time, and they make a very wide range of brilliant machines, which I have had the pleasure of test riding. Keep the shiny side up, and I hope to see you and some new content in the future. The best to your and your family, especially the new addition.
@CaptainRambunctious
@CaptainRambunctious 7 лет назад
Thank you very much stretch man! No need to be concerned that you have returned to the Harley fold! Nobody's perfect! ;-) They are an excellent brand and if the bike suits you then why the hell not?! Interested to hear about the differences between the sportster and the roadster. Yes, the Scrambler is the best of the bunch in my opinion for ease of riding and not too exciting thrills! Thank you for your support and feedback on my reviews. It is most welcome. Take care and ride safely and enjoy! :-) TBH!
@stretchman490
@stretchman490 7 лет назад
Well, the real differences are in suspension. The Roadster has inverted forks, and dual disks up front, much like the Thruxton. The stance is approximately 3 inches higher, and the corresponding lean angle is increased as a result. The tins are different. There are some differences in the powerband as well, as the torque curve peaks at 3750 vs. 3500, and has about 3 lbs more stock. The gauge is an analog tach with a digital speedo. So, it's set up quite like a café bike, but has about the same power as a T-120. The Thruxton would tromp it on the street. Swapping the exhaust and adding a high flow air filter and tune gives it about 10% more, averaging about 79 ft lbs at the rear wheel on the dyno. Plus, you get that nice sound, but as with everything else, it comes at a price. Spins up real nice in an urban environment. The gear spacing is adequate, and only has 5 gears, compared to the Bonnies and their 6 gears. The T-120 would probably beat it on top end. I find that I hardly ever even use 5th on it, except on the highway. I got 2300.00 dollars off when I purchased a new old stock 2016. That put the price just under 9K. A new bonnie would have been about 3K more. Bonnie would have abs/traction control, rider modes, dual gauges, and heated grips. So you get more for what you are paying. If only I had a bigger garage. Maybe someday I'll win the lottery?

Daniel Hilley ah, the headlights! Always a bone of contention every time they change them. Great review thanks. I own a T120 at the moment and was considering also getting a Thruxron R or a Street Triple RS. I am thinking the Thruxton would be too similar to the T120 and for a bit of contrast the St Triple would be better. Thoughts?
@CaptainRambunctious
@CaptainRambunctious 7 лет назад
You are right that they are similar but they ride quite differently and if you prefer old school looks then the Thruxton is different enough. I know what you mean though. 2 1200 triumphs in your stable? The street Triple RS is a much better machine in pretty much all respects other than looks though, so up to your own preference really. Although the Thruxton is also more expensive so you are getting more for your money with the street triple RS... Hope this helps a bit? Thank you for watching and for taking the time to comment! :-)

Is it too much for the street, you think? Is the Thruxton better suited?
@CaptainRambunctious
@CaptainRambunctious 5 лет назад
A resounding YES! My mate had the new street triple RS and said it was amazing, but always revving it and always at illegal speeds to have any 'fun'. He rode my Thruxton R and swapped his street triple for a Thruxton R the next week... So much more fun at 'normal' speeds... Spot on sir...
@saddle8bag
@saddle8bag 7 лет назад
How is the knee bend compared to the Thrux? As to power, I think you've demonstrated that bike has all you could ever need. Even if it made twice as much, it wouldn't matter as the electronics would kick in to save the rider from looping it anyway. For a modern bike, I think the style of the RS is outstanding. In a world of sportbikes that look like irradiated Japanese cartoon characters, the Triumph is a shining star.
@CaptainRambunctious
@CaptainRambunctious 7 лет назад
Loved your wording at the end there... Excellent comparison... The knee bend is similar to the Thruxton. I wasn't uncomfortable and I have bad knees... A more comfortable position that the outgoing street triple by miles... Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! :-)

Captain Rambunctious great review. Can you clarify in what manner the new 765 is more comfortable than the previous 675 version? I currently have a 865 Bonnie which suits my 55 year old bones and I have been thinking of adding a STR. I'd be interested to know which bike has a more upright position as opposed to leaning forward? I think I like the look of the 765 and I like that it has traction control. As I get older, I seem to be getting more sensible. Thank you in advance for your insight.

Soooo Money not an object . What bike would you want as every day rider for thrills and fun etc. I am looking for a final bike so will spend what I can on it . I have a Harley 48 Spotster1200 now , however would like a cheaper to customise and maintain , plus tour maybe , camp out . I appreciate your feedback and comments . Regards Paul
@CaptainRambunctious
@CaptainRambunctious 6 лет назад
If you don't want the classic look then probably the best fun / power / versatility is the Tiger Sport. However, if you want the classic look, camping, a little tour etc, customisable, then you can't beat the Street Scrambler or even the older 865cc Scrambler... But the new one is great fun to ride...

Just to say, that sound you're getting has almost zilch to do with the exhaust. Not getting on at you directly, just so tiring hearing so many reviewers say "the sound isn't too bad for a stock can". It's 99% induction noise! ;)
@CaptainRambunctious
@CaptainRambunctious 7 лет назад
Is it really?! That low down grumble noise is the induction? I thought the induction was the whine and roar? I stand corrected! Thanks for the advice... I'll try to remedy that in future videos... I might even have more listens to see! Thanks again!

Casper Dawson no I didn't. Certainly not enough to find it noticeable anyway... as you saw, I sat at higher revs for quite some time and I suppose thinking back, there were vibrations but not enough for me to truly notice... Does that make sense? I hope you get it sorted out to your satisfaction... it may be that yours wasn't balanced properly? Or maybe even the tyres werent? Thanks for watching and for the comment.

It's a problem with fast bikes. People can talk all they like about self-control, but quick bikes like to be spanked; they _feel_ off when ridden slowly. I think it's a reason I may go for something sensible as my next bike.

Using your newborn child as an excuse for taking so long to edit and for producing a "tardy" video is a weak excuse indeed Sir. That's what the wife is for. Looking after the kids is her job. Children should in no way impact the father's bike riding, drinking, cavorting and general tomfoolery. (By the way. Congrats on the new sprog. I quit at one and have no intention of adding to the brood. Besides, mine is 18yrs old already. I'm not voluntarily going through all that again.)
