New tunnel in Assen - efficient cycling through a continuous grid of high quality routes

To enable a high cycling modal share we must have an efficient network of high quality cycle-paths which go everywhere. This video shows a new link in Assen and how it connects to existing infrastructure. Every time a new cycle-path is built, the already excellent infrastructure becomes more useful.

Where is the tunnel? I did not see any ... where you referring to the bridge you passed under?

You can see it at 0:11. This is "De Maten" tunnel. It goes underneath a (pre-existing) railroad. If they made a sharp right at 1:08. They would've gone through a second tunnel that goes underneath the road you see earlier.

I don't always ride on the left! There's a practical reason why I do in this case. By doing this we can ride together. If Judy brakes sharply I'll miss her. If someone else appears coming in the other direction I'll pull in behind her. The alternative is to always ride a long way behind each other, which is completely antisocial.
