My barber, the guy employed in Starbucks near me supposed to be studying in college but they don’t even go to college. They work , paid less than minimum wage in cash and don’t pay taxes and have got all their family in UK which is adding to housing crisis. So good move.
it's very common too they treat migrants / international students like this in Australia. once, you ask your employer for your pay slip for tax return, they'll give you less hours n finally kick you out.
I have observed numerous Indian students primarily engaged in food delivery or car wash businesses. During a visit to Cakebox, a cake shop in Harrow, I encountered an individual who struggled with English and couldn't comprehend my order. When I inquired about Hindi, the lady mentioned she could only communicate in Gujarati, revealing that she held a dependent visa. Another person informed me she was new to the area. However, the ramifications are already evident, with a growing number of individuals impacting the NHS, schools, government services, and housing. The influx has reached a point where its effects are significantly felt across various sectors.
Please note that overseas students pay fees to use NHS services for themselves and their dependents. I agree they may impact local schools but the number of students who come with school-going children would be very low.
@@venkateswarluk5133 That's very true that foreign students and their dependents pay for the NHS as part of their visa applications known as the NHS healthcare surcharge as well as pay for their tuition and are not entitled to any benefits and pay for their food and living, so in all fairness, even if their dependants don't work, they still have to fend for themselves ultimately contributing financially into the economy.
@@INDYEAH Overseas students coming to the UK have increased 10-fold after re-introducing PSW. Not allowing dependents may discourage some from coming to the UK but it may also increase students who want to come without dependents. Please note that many students are struggling to get part-time jobs since they can't compete with their dependents due to restrictions on their availability.
Fair enough. Students go to a college for a limited time. They can easily leave their families behind, unless they have an ulterior motive like permanently settling there.Britain is reeling under the weight of too many immigrants. Give them a break.
Let me get this, the Uneducated illegal immigrants crossing through the borders illegally who not surprisingly are the ones causing havoc with their radical Islamic ideologies get to stay but the Educated who came legally and contribute through their skills and knowledge get booted out? Wow way to go UK. I see a Greater UK in the Future.
@767Alaa Taxpayers’ money is misappropriated lining their (CONservatives) pockets, spent on benefits including on those that enter illegally. UK has been fuelling war in Ukraine (storm shadow missiles etc) and has consequentially given homes for Ukrainians and other war torn countries, victim to Uk’s meddling of their affairs at an extortionate expense to the taxpayer. Tories have also given themselves a payrise for engineering the burgeoning cost of living crisis exacerbated by pandemic mismanagement, ‘Lettuce’s policies’ and such for 14 long years. No they allow free immigrantion and pay money every month for lives of illegal immigrants but don't want family of legal immigrants and students to enter Britain. They are in for a mess.
This was long due. How can student who themselves don't have a steady income bring another person who will again have dependency on govt for aid. Good move
Your comment clearly shows how little you know as the dependent visa would all clearly say: 'NO RECOURSE TO PUBLIC FUNDS', so no, they would not be getting government aid. So how about you try again and tell us the real reason you don't want them coming?
@@mikhailfoster9331 They would be getting it if they decide to stay, the "no recourse to public funds" wouldn't last eternally. There would be a loophole of some sort, there always is.
@@bushwacka5187 stop displaying your ignorance. They can only get it once there is a change in status. The law allows students to look for jobs after graduation. Once that is done and they start paying all the contributions and taxes in full, they can take whatever benefit available to them if the need be.
You are confusing legall immigrants coming via dependant visa vs illegals who live for free by entering britian and settling and living out of your tax money.
Being Indian, it’s actually good because married people were not going for study alone, mostly go to get settle there and study visa is the easiest to get. Met few they went there paying and then dropped in 2sem and started working, atleast it is not banning Indians as did by Australia for the same reason. A friend met a couple who immigrated to UK paying 50l on work visa and they were not even 12th pass. With 50l they could have done so much in India. People are just blind, should realise har chamakne wali cheez sona nahi hoti
@meg. "atleast it is not banning Indians as did by Australia for the same reason..." The education visa scheme was, and still is, widely rorted in Australia, not only but mainly, by Indian and Bangladeshi "students" . Privatisation of vocational training, From Govt TAFE to private colleges has seen the rorts extended by, again not exclusively but mainly, sub continental immigrants as owners and teachers of the private colleges. The worst sort of rort was that students would sign up for, say, hairdressing training but never turn up but the owners would mark them as having attended.
Why are you happy? Do you know how your country is struggling to provide jobs to youth? Are you brainwashed to believe India is world guru and heaven??
True. And they live in cheap houses and because of them it's impossible to find Cheap houses esp in London for locals. Chinese students were much better they mostly never work and spend their money bringing from their home
So they are targeting those who come in legally and contribute to the society (vs those who barge in illegally, spread nuisance and be a liability). Well done, Keep it up !
The legal migration is too high and this had to stop... If there's 20 000 student entering country but they bring in more 20 000 dependent. They teach their kids at free public schools and get free Medicals. Government doesn't get any benefit from these bogus immigrations but rips taxpayers money!
Illegal immigration in the UK contributes only 1% of the immigration total the UK cannot and will not allow 1 million people to immigrate to the UK each year otherwise India should start accepting 1 million Paks and Afghans each year too.
@@covfefe1787why would we let some illiterates to come in our country......you may ban Pak and afgan ....but usually indians come there to study and as professionals to add value in uk economy....there's nothing illegal in it ....they are law abiding people who seriously mind their own business.
@covfefe1787 It only takes 1 out of that 1% to inflict unfathomable damage and destruction! Moreover, fugitives could pour in disguising as asylum seekers. UK’s immigration system is a joke! Enter legally only to be a xenophobic/systemic target or sail across the channel and be escorted to a hotel whilst having all expenses paid for plus benefits!
Good move by the UK government. Not a cruel move at all because they’re trying to sort their messy house and let them do whatever they want within their jurisdiction. We have no right to complain.
Overseas students studying for an undergraduate degree are already not allowed to bring their dependents. Now, master's students are added to this list. However, postgraduate research students are still allowed to get their dependents. It seems 50K students and 65K dependents came in one year, they pay one year of tuition but are allowed to stay for 3 years (one course plus 2 years post-study visa). Since many of them have children as well, who need school placements. Further, the dependents were reducing part-time job opportunities for the home as well as overseas students. Since personal loan grants were reduced, even home students have to work for their maintenance. therefore, the govt. did the right thing by banning overseas master's students bringing their families to the UK.
Am Indian born and educated and chose to live in the U.K. Through marriage. Most Indians have arranged marriages because of purely economic reasons. Parental and cultural traditions are often cited. But it is a ruse with a Western passport by either individual the main reason. A better life with free education healthcare and benefits. Sunak has been going on about illegal boat crossings but has encouraged Indians to avail of legal visas because of his fervent Hindu faith. Sunak an immigrant and Vivek Ramaswamy in the US both Indians have never provided answers as to why 41,000 Indians have illegally tried to cross The Mexico border to the US or Canada. India must stop the baby factories which are filling every landmass available. Their skill is robot baby making factories
Universities should cancel admissions of students who leave their course midway in order to work. This way they can maintain the quality of their institutes.

I am a British-Born, second generation Indian girl, and unfortunately, many international students tormented me on campus whilst I did my masters degree last year. I was the only home student in my accomodation, and a bitchy girl from Hong Kong who lived there bullied me for 6 months and mocked my financial status, amongst other things like appearance and accent. Also, two guys, one from India, and the other Pakistan, constantly degraded me, stalked me around the library, and were just straight up rude and disrespectful towards me. Selfishness and taking liberties is a trend I have witnessed among foreign students. Not all of them but, sadly, many in my experience. Frustrating that my own taxpayers money funded their torture of me.

Anyway? Why a student has to bring his family to any country while he is studying 📚?? How does it make sense? Why can’t he study and mind his business?
This is a good move by Sunak.. As an Indian I dont want to see a day when London becomes Mumbai or Delhi with chaat stalls in every corner. Oops! too late! that's already the case.
Aren't these are the Kind of immigrants that the UK actually needs. They come temporarily to learn skills at most 4yrs which they go to apply in their own countries while contributing to UK's economy through fees, paying accommodation and promoting UK's Travels and service industry yet they are the ones being targeted whereas the uneducated indoctrinated & radicalized Illegal immigrants who not surprisingly are the ones causing havocs and bombings get to walk in easily through the borders and get to stay. Wow and you're here cheering
Let me tell you the ground reality. Some people get into low ranked universities easily and get their whole family, use government benefits and take away all the small jobs that once would've been done by students as a part time job. Due to this 2 things are happening: -> government benefits are getting abused (Birmingham & Nottingham city councils declared bankruptcy also - due to multiple reasons but this is also pne among them) -> students aren't getting part time jobs Upon this a lot of students don't even attend university fully. They take up part time jobs legally and then work unrecorded hours for lesser pay illegally also. The massive influx of less skilled personnel is crowding the market so much and the UK isn't equiped to handle this much which means the existing locals and internationals lose out on deserved opportunities. All in all I would say it's a good move but it also seems it's just to win the election and nothing else as the illegal immigration hasn't been taken care of yet!
why india is upset with UK's immigration law? Use your youth in your country. Why they have to go to other country to survive? Most of these students go to UK or USA to work not to study.
Good move, in long run this will have a benefit for the country. Sometimes we must leave the economy behind if it’s bring threat to the country. Keep going Great Britain
Am from India and Somehow this may be a good decision for UK as we all know ultimately the target for most of those who go to UK for studies is to study and find work and then settle down at Uk. Thus creating imbalance to the countries demography if it happens on a Rampant scale. This will ensure that ONLY those who are REALLY interested to study at UK’s prestigious universities go there and NOT those students who just want to settle down using this route. It’s upto UK what kind of visa rules they want to have for their own country and at the same time they need to respect the same For Others.
Rightly said! The genuine Indian students who arrive in the UK don't abuse the system but unfortunately too many fraud is happening through bringing families and many Genuine students are being affected
No, the UK isn't in decline. It's a Christian nation that is strong. It's leaders need to be as well. They need to show that strength by enforcing laws. No need to debate the immigration issue. Deport where appropriate.
Cleverly has gone after Brits with foreign spouses as well. All the gov't had to do was not count study time as years counted towards ILR applications. Some students hop around courses for years to extend their student status.
Marriage is not a loophole. As an Indian born and educated marriage with a Western passport has always been the trump card for arranged marriages. A route to free education healthcare benefits which the Indian governments have never achieved. Skilled Indians at making babies like products on the aumated factory
Bull shit! I am from India, will GOI allow Bangladeshi and their dependents to stay in India with Justification "they are paying visa fee" which is negligible in relation to the load they put in the economy. This is what people do - some how come to US and Europe in the name of studies and then ether bring their dependents or plan babies and then try all the ways to stay back. As an Indian, I would never like that to happen in India.
Thank God ,UK has woken up! Student visa is just fir students, how many dependents can actually depend on a student?? It was foolish to let so many people in anyways. Good job Rishi!
Canada and Australia offer more opportunities for EU and non EU students. I won`t do my master in the U.K. because of Brexit. EU citizens could study almost for free in Scotland but that is over now. In Ireland and Germany ( master degrees are in English ) are still good options for EU citizens and the universities there for UE nationlas are almost free. The preferences for UE students are the Scandinavian countries, too. (Master degrees are almost free and in English). Anyway , British universities are too expensive , you could get good education elsewhere at lower cost.
Australia has implemented _exactly the same thing_ …students will not be able to bring their direct families i.e., spouses and children - on ‘dependent’ visas
Student visa isn't immigration, it's intended to be temporary. If, at the end of courses, the student left, there wouldn't be an issue but that isn't what happens, it's, de facto, just another category of immigration which is abused. What is this nonsense about breaking up families ? Properly used, a student visa allows the student to attend, study, then go home between courses and at the end of courses.
Actually, if I was a foreign student paying £15k and more after studying, I'd want to get some UK experience and earn in a higher currency in a good job in the UK having studied in the UK as it's a form of investment. Put into practice what you've been taught in the UK system before I'd think of returning to my country that's less developed so I can really understand why the students don't return immediately.
@@ThePushUKLifestyle "Actually, if I was a foreign student ..." The giveaway is "Put into practice what you've been taught in the UK system before I'd think of returning to my country th..." What Britain is concerned about is that most don't ever go home i e its' become a backdoor immigration rort. indeed, "education agents" in Asia sell courses in Western countries on that basis. An appropriate model was the 1949 - 1953 Colombo Plan in Australia by which Students from Asia were brought to Australia for training then went back to put into effect what they had learned, not an immigration scam.
@@angusmckenzie9622 Unfortunately for the now international students, It's a lot of money to invest in themselves only to return to their country where no jobs exist or the infrastructure out there makes it even more difficult to set up something for themselves but if they could secure a decent job in the `uk system where they can also apply their UK education into, they would. @@ThePushUKLifestyle "Unfortunately for the now international students, It's a lo..." That would be a reasonable proposition from the point of view of a student from, say, Guinea, Afghanistan, Togo, Timor, Burkino Faso. The top 10 countries which constitute the sources of international students in Britain ar, in order, China (151,690), India (126,535), Nigeria (44,195), Pakistan (23,075), United States (22,990), Hong Kong (17,630), Bangladesh (12,700), Malaysia (12,135) [21-22 figures]. The most frequently studied subjects are Accounting, Business, IT, law. The 2 biggies are China and India, both growing economies, nuclear armed. The picture of a qualified trained Accountant, Economist, IT Specialist or Lawyer doesn't hold up, particularly among the Chinese and Indians, usually the children of the wealthy anyway. A very common aim among Chinese who do return is to acquire citizenship or other residency rights in Western countries as a bolt hole. Britain is well within its rights to close off at least the Education rort.
No one needs an international student specifically from India. Indians celebrated when Sunak was elected as a PMand now the same Sunak is kicking them on their backside. Look at Palki argument “Foreign students bring money and keep their economy running” it’s actually opposite as people move out of their country to get a better life. Now these Indian students are being kicked from UK, Australia and Canada, I guess their next destination will be SYRIA to get higher education 😂
Lol. USA will be fucked up is Indian students leave their University. Same with the UK. Your big University will be fucked up to a farmer college with low quality students.
It is time for every country to be prohibited from adopting immigrants as new citizens and encourage the UN to issue a resolution regarding this matter. This is to maintain world order and security😁
Well, I believe they did it keeping in mind that once the dependent is in the UK, they conceive fast to have a baby which will be by birth citizen of the UK.
No it doesn’t work like that, I knew a Polish guy who lived in the UK since he was 10 years old and despite having a baby in the UK it wasn’t immediately given citizenship because neither the mother or father were British citizens
Tell me how is a student supporting it's dependents while going to full time school? This means that the dependants or kids are a liability to UK govt. even when they are there legally. Or do they have to show that they have enough money to cover their and their dependant's health insurance, housing for themselves and their dependants and food - not to forget books, transportation and any other extra expenses that pop up unawars. If they are supposed to put aside 20,000 pounds per person as insurance against emergency health visits or housing or just to show they can afford to have their dependants with them in UK while they study then it was okay. But if it was not a rule then this is a good move by UK govt. You are there to study, so study. There are many undergrad students who are unmarried that will fill that quota from around the world. Married students go alone or go to another country - you don't need your parents or kids while you study. Hey not discriminating against them but seriously if you have to provide for kids and parents and all, prove that you can afford their insurances before you come there with them.
Well to answer your question depends aren’t liabilities to government because while applying for visa government verifies that they have enough funds to support themselves during the course of stay & they get no benefits from gov as part of their visa conditions, plus they pay National insurance upfront for the whole duration of their visa validity also pay national insurance again through their salary when they start to work in the uk, same goes for international students so they essentially pay twice for healthcare & mostly immigrants are relatively young so they don’t need to use healthcare services as much, which means they aren’t using the services yet paying double for it but government portrays it otherwise to cover their own shortcomings.
Yes they have to show that they have the funds ti look after themselves and usually, their dependants have qualifications that allow them to work in proper jobs as well so they do show they have the funds but also, their dependants can get full time jobs to take over bills and all. The word dependants can be quite misleading as well, while some dependants don't have qualifications, others have and in really good jobs that they're able to obtain full time high paying jobs on their dependant visa which can eventually secure them an actual work permit to remain in the UK and the student then becomes dependant on their now dependant's spouse's newly secured work permit.
@@dukebubblebutt5256 You clearly haven't hung around international students to call them poor. They bring in more money than local citizens and the government knows that too.
Chain migration is the easiest way to get migration numbers out of control. It's nice to see these countries shaping and controlling the migration numbers to their desired levels. The US is also suffering a huge immigration crisis in its Southern border. Australia has also toughen up rules.
Its a good decision made by the government. So many dependants entering in uk and many of these foreign students who came.with dependants they all study in Unranked University and rubbish majors. And they also send their children freely to UK public school burdening Taxpayers money and also ready to work for cheap wages affecting local workers wages
It is a good idea I want the ones suffering to get in before other healthy family members visiting from the visa students. We should help but not all these illegals coming in for a better life. They need to go through. Legally

Bro, isn't this a different version of Brexit? I am a 2023 Sept entrant in UK so the rules don't apply to my batch and I can bring my dependant to the UK. But this isn't fair.
Yes it should when the immigrant figures are so high now that it’s now an invasion. The British people have the right to a good life as it’s our country. Not sure why you think we should come last in our own country.
Ideally they should deal with Asylum laws instead, but I'd presume this move is tackled at those who bring their entire family (mother, father, grandparents, etc.) This would form an -again- unsustainable amount of immigration
They should just declare a moratorium on immigration for a year to straighten out the mess now. The additional family take resources beyond the costs of visas. Students make a choice. They may chose to prioritize family,
There is no political game, as an Indian student studying in the UK I'm well aware of the refugee crisis here specially those who come from Arab countries trying to destroy the culture and discipline. Appreciated move by the PM!
How do you think British born Indians look at you then? We might look at you and all other NRI's as being invaders who steal British jobs, clog up housing and the NHS and make it more difficult for our kids to get places in schools in Britain.
Students will still make it to the UK, yes they may not be able to bring their spouse, but they will still go there. BTW, Ireland also doesnot allow dependents on student visas, it's not so odd rule.
They add to the economy. But UK is going through rise in illegal immigration, crime rates. Student visa holders have misused the visa, they start working without the work visa.
This is so right, why would a student have to bring in their family? Even in India, we go to other places to study and we dont take our families along with us to hostels and make them stay. If you get a Job and planning to settle then its wise for dependents but for students its makes sense to not allow dependants.
This is sad news for those planning to study in UK and bring along family. My brother studied in UK nd 2 children born in UK. Finish study they returned back to serve our country and sure the was their precious memory
