Thank you Tgv! I feel very honored to have you review my Steiny! I hope you like it... I mean, love it, as much as I do! The unboxing was great! I especially loved the strap storm at the end lol. Can't wait to see the full review!
I’m not a NATO kinda guy, I tied one once and it felt weird. I’ve had my Titanium 500 for about five years and it’s a great piece to wear, whether it’s the bracelet or the factory rubber I purchased a year after I bought it. One more thing, I dropped it and the movement was damaged and didn’t keep correct time and when I contacted Steinhart they paid shipping both ways and fixed it for no charge. Customer service is awesome.
Marc at Long Island Watch is most definitely a top notch bloke. I've purchased several watches through his company, and can attest the customer service is absolutely exceptional. I live in California, and the watches are always shipped and arrive in a timely manner without ever having to purchase expedient shipping. Marc is also great at answering in-depth horological questions because he has been in the industry so long and shares a passion for the hobby. The pricing on Long Island is another big reason I continue to shop there, because imports aren't ridiculously marked up and are very competitive with sites like Amazon. Great job Marc, keep up the great work! And thanks TGV for another top notch recommendation :)
+Leighton Wood Thank you my friend. I hope so too, really miss going to the park with him, I think he does too. BTW, was was wearing my stoney at the beginning ;-) Best regards, TGV
Great vid as always TGV - I got the Steinhart ocean titanium 500 in December too - i got it because it looks superb and I haven't been disappointed. The strap colour has grown on me and marks it out as unique. It looks like a submariner update at very low money but with a superb movement .i have no idea how Steinhart do it. Keep the vids coming I love your reviews - thanks
Good evening TGV... Fantstic video as always, and I love the end where you're showing your quirky side. It makes your videos more personal to those of us who support thiss channel and the UGWC. I am so sorry to hear that little Ernie has got buggered up. Chester my bassett/beagle and I send our well wishes for a speedy recovery. Wonderful news to hear Marc from LIW has stepped up and offered his assistance for the Seko mod. Marc is one of the best people to do business with, and who is the perfect gentleman. If you still need someone for assembly and regulation for each timepiece, a good friend of mine is Jay from Motor City Watch Works in Michigan who just might be able to help. He has a website and it has his contact information on there as well. I hope this find you and your family well. Stay safe and warm from the storm, my friend.
Steinhart is doing great things for the 💰..Would be sweet TGV if you could get your hands on the new ocean one vintage dlc for review..The other thing to note about homages, especially the ocean one vintage or the Steve McQueen,is that the Rolex version of those pieces are near $100 grand..Not many of us will ever own those..Its in these instances that the homages of those classics are keepers...
That dark color of the Titanium steered me back towards an Ocean 1 Black with the Ceramic Bezel. I just ordered it! Literally $400 USD *shipped* (from Germany to USA.) I am really looking forward to owning a Steinhart. A killer affordable Subby homage that I can wear every day. Thanks for all of the great reviews, TGV.
Thx TGV for another great video. I find it interesting that so many find the titanium cheap looking. I'm new to watches, but I've been a cyclist for many years. In the cycling world, titanium is highly desirable for its strength to weight ratio and is only found in the best components. To me, the use of titanium in this Steinhart just raises the level of sophistication. I associate the color of the metal and the light weight with high quality. I hope Ernie heals quickly. Ciao!
I think as a practical tool watch it works with the titanium and because the lighter the watch is the better its is for it proper use but I do agree the colour is a bit to dark and needs to be a bit of polish in there. I think if you change the strap to something a bit brighter it will give it a completely different look and feel.
Hi TGV, glad for you that the SKX project is progressing! And having your own strap is so cool. Congrats. All the best for your dog - good recovery! Cheers from Germany Daniel
I hope Ernie gets better soon. I enjoyed the video...the ending was fun and unexpected! Congratulations on all fronts and all the exciting good news! Can't wait to see the review.
Just got mine in today and gave it a turn. Caught myself mumbling "Oooh, hello". Remembered this review, and how you had the perfect word choice for the situation. Really enjoy your stuff! You are a large factor in why I recently kindled a love for horology.
Oh! Great news while I'm sleeping! ;) Congratulations on your own NATO straps, TGV! And it's so fantastic to have such a perfect sponsor for the SKX project! With only 15-20 models as a first batch, you couldn't sell them normally. They would be gone in a fraction of a second. Maybe you should do a kind of lottery. And in addition an auction on one and donate to an organisation of your choice. Just an idea... The Steinhart is a good looking watch. But in stainless steel it would look even better! Best regards, Claus
Thank you so much for this video TGV. I have been looking at Steinhart for some time but decided on a Seiko SNZF15 as my beater diver (only date window that made me not want the SKX009). This video however made me really want to upgrade this and that QUICK! Very nice Diver. Thank you for all your videos, you are truly a diamond in the rough of youtube. Great videos. Best regards from the cold in Iceland.
Whats an episode TGV!! Triple whammie! A review, your strap and the SKX news!! Soo happy for you friend! Enjoy the fruits of your labor, best of luck with the NATO what a strap it is!
I love Ernest, such a charming little dog. As always TGV, great video, thank you again for pleasing your crowd with your great personality and fun reviews.
Hope little Ernie is feeling better soon. Wow, that NATO is cool. I'll definitely be ordering one (or 2) after watching this video. And thank you for doing both20 and 22mm. Well done! And great news on the SKX project! So nice of Mark to step up like that. Can hardly wait to see how this turns out. Cheers mate! John
Tgv when you do the full review I would be really interested to see how the titanium bracelet holds up to scratches. I like titanium on my knives but they always show scratches or snail trails. Small scratches on my sebenza show character but not sure I'd want the same on my watch. Not suggesting you try and scratch it up or anything but just see if it's something you'd notice with daily wear.
On the fence here, TGV. I have a Steinhart OVM v1 and enjoy it. I think I have an idea what you would choose, but which would you go for, Glycine Combat Sub or the Ocean One Titanium?
Hi TGV, where you are is most definitely too cold for me and I am glad I am in Queensland, though we have been going through heat waves. Great news hearing that Long Island Watches have come on board. The straps look good you are obviously pleased with how they turned out. Cheers.
+Bob FromBrisbane Thank you Bob, I must admit I love the colder seasons but there are moments when I would like escape, big snow storm heading our way, fancy a swap? LOL Best regards, TGV
I loved the ending. It reminded me of Uncle $crooge swimming in his money bin. I hope Ernie returns to full strength soon and is back protecting you on your long walks.
Do modifications affect the rating of the watch like say the water resistance, would it still be rated for 200meter ? Do you have the means to check on it after modification? It’s important for me since I wanted to modify an SKX but I’m going to actually use it in diving later.
OOh poor Ernest!! Maan this natos look AMAZING!! Congrats for your success, almost 25k subscribers!! You deserve that!! The color in this Steinhart looks a lot like the Space Gray on the iPhones
I'm glad I watched it until the end. Priceless lol! I just ordered one with delivery to the UK. Hopefully it doesn't get stuck in customs.... I am so happy for you TGV. You really deserve all this and much more. I have no doubt 2016 will be a fantastic year for you. Cordiali saluti. Claudio
Congrats on the NATOs! Very cool to have a personalized strap! I love the looks of the Steinhart Titanium. I have wanted to see one in person as well, but having owned an Ocean 1 Ceramic in the past, I couldn't get over the flat case. It's my understanding that the New Titanium uses the same case design. Steinhart would really be well served on a case redesign in my opinion. It just looked and felt extremely flat on the wrist. I'm looking forward to the full review to hear your thoughts. Steinhart is a brand I really want to enjoy, due to their customer service. However, just not in love with their case designs.
Love the show & channel. Only recently found it, but now hungrily catching up. It's great that you champion watches at all price ranges. Currently sourcing a Seiko SKS following your recommendation.
Hello, usually titanium is easily scratched, much more 'easy of' steel, and personally I hate that kind of signs on titanium, as they are very visible .The titanium this model is easy to scratch or has any treatment it particularly hard? Thank you
First off... Speedy recovery to Ernie!! Dogs with casts on always look so bummed out...Great review of the Steinhart 500... Love how you say "hello" to the bezels when you check them out for the first time. So funny! Looking forward to details on the SKX project, as well.
The Steinhart is a nice looking watch, not too keen on the dark titanium but still a good looking piece. Had a couple of Steinys in the past but flipped them within a month or two, they just don't seem to float my boat. Love the NATOs, I'll get one ordered asap!
+FR33STyla72 I can understand that, I can also understand why people love them passionately. Glad to hear you like the nato :D Thanks my friend, Best regards, TGV
Thanks for the quick review. I really liked the watch. It seems to me that the color of the titanium from lugs is different from that of the actual bracelet. was that the case? Steinhart really has a nice piece here, but things like that may give it a cheaper look.
That Steinhart is really beautiful. Love those blue touches! Congratulations for your Nato it looks really good, hope I can get one! Best regards, Michele.
TGV! great great news and progress. Definitely excited! I think the TGV Nato will look great on my Orient Ray hopefully as good as your speedy lol. Pictures to come. Best wishes to Ernie, and stay safe during the storm my friend. Regards Mawi
Given the specs, the price of this Steinhart is incredible. The ceramic bezel is great. The Soprod movement is sublime. Only problem, I hate titanium watches. I like to feel the weight of my watch. I know this is not the case, but I find that titanium is feeling low end. In addition, it scratches more easily.
Hey Tgv, you have a great channel. I think a ceramic bezel for the SKX would be awesome. Did you ever thought about that? I really love the skx007 but i think that a bezel with a higher quality would make the watch look incredibly stunning. Best regards, Jonas
TGV amazing Steinhart, I was looking at this watch last week, I was trying to compare the UK agent prices with buying direct from Germany .They are very similar amounts .I have previously owned a vintage red but I didn't like the grey dial and ended up selling it.I had better order one before too many people watch your review and they sell out! Great stuff.
TGV - first of all chuffed to bits is one of my new favorite expressions thanks for that- how do you reserve your skx? - i would definitely be interested in reserving my own especially if your doing a limited run....please let me know.....
Haha the old boy got himself in trouble, hope he's better soon. Very nice strap, glad to hear on your project. That's a nice watch, I like the titamium. Great video. All the best, JAS
Everything about that Steiny is right in my opinion, even the colour! I recently acquired the sought after version 1 of the OVM and it is similarly fantastic. Apart from it is also too big for my skinny little wrists so I'm unfortunately going to have to flip it. How do we reserve one of your SKXs? I've ordered a strap from WCWC, my second purchase from them. Last one arrived in the UK within a few days. Get well soon Ernie!
Great video TGV! That Steinhart really looks awesome. Will there be an 18 mm NATO with the TGV logo, because currently I don't think I can use an 20/22 mm one? I am looking forward buying such NATO, because they really look amazing
With the Steinhart are you planning on doing a comparison video between it and your rolex? as I'm looking at one with it vs the Omega planet ocean, the green one, and its quite interesting to see how different they are. its called 400 vs 4000 wrist watches by the way, and its not some snob video either.
Nice vid, as allways. The nato looks great! Congrats for that achievement! Man, I hope Steinhart will make some smaller sizes in the future, I have small wrists aswell.
Ahh the Titanium has been on my wishlist, glad to see a video about it. I (think) that I like the color it will be a little different than all the steel watches, and the light weight will be preferred. Congrats on the straps, looks like you are starting your own brand.
jus picked up my black TGV nato from wrist candy, it will be going in my seiko SBDB013 spring drive tuna. i really think it is going to look incredible on this piece.
Fantastic video TGV!! always wanted to comment but I didn't want to create a channel, but here I am. So proud to see the channel grow!! You deserve it Best regards C.T.S
Hello, I'm kind a noob in horology, so I would like to ask your opinion on Skagen Watches. I saw a Balder Titanium Chronograph and I really liked the design, but I know nothing about it's mechanism. So, what can you say about them? Great videos, I really like them. Best regards from Brazil! (Sorry about the off topic question)
Stunning Steinhart. I do admit I like the play on the dark titanium. Not something you see everyday, gives it a tougher aesthetic. There is a watch that I've had my eye on since it was announced. The Longines Heritage diver 1967. It would be nice to get your opinion on it. As always, take care. And thanks for the compliment on my pic. Its a pic of my French bulldog.
Hey TGV you should really take a look at the Steinhart Ocean Vintage GMT if you get the chance, as it looks just like the original GMT Steve Mcqueen watch. and I think I'm in love lol maybe I finally found the watch to throw the old omega in the bucket with lol
+The Urban Gentry I just found your channel and watched a lot of your reviews. I appreciate that you show a range of watches and brands. You show their pros and cons no matter what brand it is or their price. I received my citizen h145-s073481 in Titanium today. I love the clean look of this watch! I subscribed and look forward to your future reviews.
+The Urban Gentry Until recently I havent bought any watches in over 15 years. I got rid of everything except an old Seiko Kinetic, and a Bulova automatic I gave away as a gift. Recently I purchased a G Shock Aviator to use outdoors and the Citizen Eco-Drive as a daily wear. Any suggestions of a watch that you just can't see yourself not having in your collection? One that you continue to favor more than others. It's always interesting to ask a watch enthusiast that. Sometimes people will suprise you with their answer.
I'm stuck between this and the Victorinox maverick quartz. I prefer the stainless steel over the titanium but the steinhart has automatic movement. Can anyone help? This will be my first low end luxury watch. Saving for a seamaster 300 😎
