#georgiandance The traditional Georgian dance Samaya played a great role in the formation of women's dance. The pagan dance "Samaiya", performed by three dancers ("Three corpses" - Vakhtang Batonishvili), is dedicated to the god of fertility - the moon. The Georgian ritual dance from the time of paganism was performed by women, men or mixed groups on the "Dzeobi" holiday. According to the definition of Sulkhan Saba Orbeliani, the term "Samaya" refers to "Rokva, Shushpar". Over time, "Samaya" lost its ritual-cult significance. The number of executors in a number of cases also exceeds the legalized number - three. Currently, "Samaya" which is widespread in our country is built on the principle of triplets and is performed in a theatrical form by women's groups (found in A. Balanchivadze's "Heart of the Mountains").
