@@JesusChristSaves.open gate means being able to shoot video with the entire sensor and the max resolution (and aspect ratio) that it offers. For example my Fuji X-T4 captures 26MP fotos with a 6,000x4,000 pixel resolution from a APSC sensor. Unfortunately it’s not capable of open gate video recording, but if it was, that would mean I could shoot 6k (6,000x4,000p) videos without the camera cropping into the frame. That would be a 3:2 aspect ratio, so taller than usual 16:9, which means there would be more room to also crop a vertical video out of the footage while still filming horizontal.
Broooo this is beastly i literally replicated this. I tried to mount my Atomos ultra and I was like wait something is wrong. I had to reference back to this video and I saw you have an adapter to make it vertical.
when recording in 4k is there a delay displaying from camera to monitor and does it display on both camera screen and monitor screen. i have the shinobi and there’s a long delay when recording 4k and can only see it on monitor and not camera screen
I think the 2 screen thing is a camera setting thing. I'm pretty sure if you have HDMI info display turned on in only shows an image on the monitor. If you turn that off it should show the info and image on the camera screen and the clean image on the monitor. And there's no noticeable delay on the Ninja V for me
This is awesome bro, but maybe you could give me your advice on something. Why get the atomos ninja v since it doesn't boost the quality/record settings of a7iv? I looked up on their site that their is no benefit to external recording, but maybe you could let me know if there is a reason to get this over a cheaper monitor (not recorder ). Thanks bro!
I think the benefits comes down to the codecs and the fact that it's on SSDs rather than SD cards so storage is cheaper and larger capacity. And when it comes to codecs, you can't record raw internally in the camera so if you wanted, you could record in Prores RAW. Or even regular prores or DN HR which to my knowledge is more optimised for editing than the h.264 or h.265 that you'd get out of the camera. But again, that's really only if you want it for that recording function. I mostly record in camera to CFexpress Type A cards because it's easier in most cases, but there are times where it helps to be able to record externally
@dirtcreature3d that's fair, I didn't realise it can't, and yes of course it'd be good if it could do more than it can. But it's not a pro video camera, so who needs to shoot raw and also mains an a7IV?
It's the Smallrig Monitor Mount Lite, but I wouldn't really recommend it for the Ninja with a 970 battery like I had on this setup because it can't really handle the weight
The Ninja V can't do 6k I'm pretty sure. The newer and higher tier ones can though. As for other brands of recorders, I don't know of any other comparable ones, especially for cheaper. Good luck finding any
I don't know the part numbers, but the handle is the rotating left NATO handle, the monitor mount is the monitor mount lite and the cage is the updated a7IV/a7SIII/a1 cage
You can manually flip it in the menu where you can change the monitoring view (native, HLG, LUT etc.) and stuff. You can get to it just by tapping on the top middle, where it should say native or whatever you have it set as
You can't rotate the UI or anything and if you record on the ninja, the video will still be horizontal but it's very easy to just change the orientation in post
If I do externally record, I use DNxHR LB on the ninja, which is similar bitrate to XAVC S internal recording. I currently don't record externally very often though
@laurentm yeah I guess you would. But how much do you really need to go through the menus and actually read stuff while you're using it? Yeah it'd be a nice feature, but to me it's not a big deal

Also, they've updated the handle so I'd recommend the new one over this one, and the monitor mount lite isn't particularly strong so if you have a heavy monitor, you may want to find something else
