Thank you for your incredible feedback! I am sending you here, the music and hardware specifications of my computer. No reshade was used. Oh! pls sub and share
You think this is amazing wait tell they get the tech finished so they actually form and dissipate naturally and create storm systems that move naturally across the planet based on temperatures and other factors. They plan to have tornadoes and hurricanes in the future as well.
@@SkyHammackDrones yeah, in the original project that wasn’t the goal, it was just a sphere with a texture dumped on it, you fly to close you teleport in the city. But then the game got overfunded, so they scratched that, as well as a ton of other stuff, and had to start with little content.
I agree that they're beautiful. You should check out the latest Flight Simulator though. Star Citizen is an amazing project and it can only get better, but in terms of clouds I think Flight Simulator has it beat for now.
@@yfz450rider39 you are out of your mind my friend, i mean maybe you prefer SC style or what ever but "shit" get out of there and get glasses man... unless you checked the clouds 4 years ago lol SC and DCS clouds much better than MFS
@@darthrevan88 you're insane. DCS Is over 10 yrs old and it fucking looks like it. Flight mechanics are awesome but the game looks bad. In no way do the graphics compare to SC, let alien MFS. There isn't a game that matches the graphical fidelity of MFS.
How the hell did they do this? It's across an entire planet that is placed in an entire solar system... and they are casting shadows too... Jesus CIG!!! This is much much harder to do and run here (if not impossible I thought) than some small local map like in DCS and MFS. Cannot believe what I am seeing.
MSFS has multi layer cloud system and dynamic, but they don't have to draw it from space on large scale... This is amazing for such crazy scale of everything and just 1st version, we'll see how it improves
Actually, in case of volumetric clouds scale is not that much of an issue. Two main performance factors are resolution and level of detail. So you either render your clouds off screen at half or quarter of resolution or you make them blurry without complex edges if your implementation is simple. But as you improve your implementation you may find ways of dynamically adjusting resolution (higher for distant clouds and very low at close proximity), ray casting algorithm (skipping empty spaces, efficiently accumulating full spaces, cutting trace short if maximum density reached) or your noise generation algorithm (adjusting number of noise octaves dynamically based on distance or even currently generated value prediction)
I just dont understand some people, why would you downvote this? Well done NotGemini, fantastic shots. You really have an eye and the music is fantastic.
The one thing is that the sun at the end should be casting rays and or beING blotted out by the clouds but this is the first iteration so I can't wait to see what they do next knowing CIG.
@@trinityx3o522 no there will be different tech levels the clouds on crusader are basically the same tech or iteration with the clouds on me but I think the mt clouds are a bit more polished
I think this already happens, it's just that these clouds in the videos were not as dense as to block out the sun entirely. But you can see them dimming the sunlight a little bit.
There's people who are salty and jump on the star citizen scam train... then there's those of us who see technology being built by CIG that will pave the way for future development as well as enrich a universe that will stop us from leaving our desks.
Wish they used some transition from ground to outer-space clouds because on the ground they look quite bad compared to outer space. But guess their main design goal is to make the planet+cloud formation to look good and the overall look of the clouds "good enough".
Then hopefully they sell out the engine so others can make games with it and we will be in a new era of gaming where all games look like this with amazing features to boot. I like this project and backed it because I wanted to see what they could do, but truthfully im not a big sci fi space person, im more a down to earth fantasy person. So hoping in the distant future a single fantasy world the size of earth could be made with this tech to explore on foot or on dragon back.
It's probs the same kinda tech that they used on flight sim 2020. The clouds on that are the best looking I've ever seen in a game and these look very much the same. Breath taking!
Nice work man, very nice. I believe you were inspired by the Chillout videos from the French Aéronavale correct ? Keep on making Amazing videos ! Safe Travel
Arthillis is correct. Official VR support is not in yet. However unofficial VR support is around. And there are people that play this in VR right now. Mind you, unsupported so it's not polished. But the mechanics all work.
@@NotGemini Did you just grab it directly from SoundCloud or was it like recommended through the RU-vid audio library or something? RU-vid isn't going to necessarily tell you if a song is copyrighted when you upload. You'll only find out when you get a copyright strike on your channel, and then gets taken down after 2 more strikes. I know it's sad. But that's how it is here unfortunately. That's why I'm trying to be careful. Always looking for good music. And this one has a nice beat to it. If it is copyrighted, I wouldn't worry too much, as it's not a mainstream video and you are a small Channel. Just make sure the video isn't monetized. Either that or you could look into purchasing a license for it if there is an option for that, or request permission from the artist. Or whoever holds rights to the song, oftentimes the Production Studio.
better then Crusader since it's much less clouds, i could play in 4k on gtx1080 on lowest cloud settings, low frames probably in 20s but i could see it, going in clouds didn't make any difference for me, but i would guess it has some lod system, idk how cloud generation like this works, up high like 1:00 it gets better
i like you müsic choise slow deephouse and the best of chillvanilly ^^ fly and chill something and smoke a blunt or a nice drink to the nice flight awesome combo ^^ peace and out bro ^^ o/***
This game takes for ever but damn it looks good. I don't know much about the game, is this footage from a singleplayer experience? and could I know your pc specs please?
i had the feeling sometimes too, but coming from NMS this is amazing, I remember when 1st Watch Dogs trailer hit, it looked so real, i no longer see it same way
Well, if you've ever seen shots of earth from the international space station those make earth look a bit smaller as well. Doesn't help that the planets in this game are at like 1/3rd scale because well, gameplay. If they made all their planets to scale would take longer to travers them and they would have even more empty space not being used for anything then they do now. They also want to decrease overall area I think to cause players to bump into each other more often.
@@Arthillis yeah but thats what I mean. The clouds as seen from outer space look very different than in star citizen. In reality you can almost see no depth in them; they almost look like a 2d textures. The kinda protruding clouds in sc make the planet look way smaller. But that's because it actually is 1/10 of the scale of a real planet and the clouds make that fact way more noticable. It takes away the believability imo
@@Arthillis somebody said that Stanton solar system diameter in it's reduced size is only big as diameter of Jupiter's orbit... insane size of real space
