I’ve been in the market for my first handgun for a few weeks and have decided on a PDP. I’ve watch about ten PDP reviews (all great) and this is hands down the best

I handled one in the store. The grip texture really is awesome.

I've had a PDP compact for a couple weeks now, and I'm impressed with everything about this gun so far. Ergos, grip texture, slide serrations, trigger, accuracy. If this gun is as durable as the PPQ and Q5 walther knocked it out of the park with this gun. Oh and Sootch you'll love how it shoots with an optic.

For a couple of years, I've been running a PPQ Navy, which is a helluva gun and VERY underrated in the marketplace. So saying this is an improvement over the PPQ says a lot. Never thought I'd consider switching for anything but the improvements and the magazine/barrel compatibility between the platforms has me considering it. Well done Walther!

This pistol is an absolute beast. It feels just like the Q4 SF but half the weight. The slide is no nonsense. The grip is INSANE.

The Walther PDP model is so outstanding! I first bought the PDP full size 5" barrel 18+1. It is sooo extraordinary that it motivated me to buy the PDP compact 4" barrel 15+1. So, yeah, I have me two PDPs with zero complains.

Was really hoping Walther would come out with a stack n a half PPS M2, that had 10+ rounds to compete with the P365 & Hellcat. I was somewhat disappointed that they didn’t, however this is a great option especially for LEOs, as more agencies are allowing officers to carry RDOs! If I was still in LE, I’d definitely want to carry the 4” full size, as I don’t have enough tactical girth, for a 4.5” or longer barrel, without it digging into the seat, making me sit at a weird angle, which puts a lot of pressure on your lower back.

DP will be a very popular gun, there are not many pistols that are designed as combat guns, I'm going to be sorry for the p99 and the PPQ to be gone, thank you for another wonderful video I appreciate it I have been watching your videos for several years now keep up the good work thank you so much ,God bless you !!!

I can't even think of getting a new firearm right now. I have a good bit of ammo put up, (factory & my reloads) but I'm afraid to shoot any of it 🙄... Primers are harder to find than ammo & I won't even start with the outrage prices on everything. A damn shame. I'm so ready for this crap to be over with.

Traded in my PPQ for the 4.5” PDP at BassPro a couple of weeks ago. LOVE that grip! Still getting used to the lighter, shorter trigger, wall and taller front sight. Still, very happy I traded up.

Took a look at the Compact at my LGS this week and fell in love with it. Compared it with the FN 509, CZ P10C, HK VP9 etc. This had the best trigger (with the 509 and VP9 coming in pretty close). The reset in particular on the Walther is SO tactile and crisp and getting back on it is just /chef's kiss/. I'm 100% planning on picking one up very soon. As always a fantastic review! Your content is way underrated.

I just bought the 4" compact version today! I was surprised they are already out there. The grip and texturing is amazing! I did not know that it takes Glock sights though.... interesting...

This is the best gun of 2021, namely because of availability. These are available in much greater numbers at gun stores than most other guns. Plus the price point at most gun stores is $599, that’s a steal of a price.

Tried this at the range yesterday and it kicks harder than heavier guns but ypu generally dont want to carry heavier guns around all day. Indeed the texture felt GREAT!

I think the main reason to buy a pdp is the fantastic, accuracy, trigger, ergonomics, and reliability.. I own the 4inch compact pdp. All this for the low to mid $ 600.00 range ! It has raised the bar for polymer 9mm pistols.

Went to look for ammo and grab fluorocarbon this morning, ended up leaving with one of these in compact and the ergonomics, slide serrations ,stipling and trigger feel great. Nice to hear they're working on a 18 round magazine for the compact. Good Review!

I hope they make a subcompact of this one day! The ‘compact’ is the size of a VP9, both are 5.4” in height with 4” barrels. Can’t wait to get my hands on one of these, seems like they really got this one right!

Trust me folks the sponsored big channels are making great money and tons of gear worth a fortune. But guys these are the reviewers most of us go to to see something your interested in buying. This dude is informative and I just relate to his platform. I like a ton of these channels.

Just shot this gun in the last week. I can’t believe how wonderful this gun is. It has a trigger like a 1911 shoots so great! Fits in your hand like it was made for your hand. And offer for 600 bucks. On freaking believable!this thing rocks!

I bought the full size 4” , added Ameriglo tall night sights and an Ameriglo haven optic , probably the nicest pistol I own.

Just bought an M&P 2.0 4.25" CORE around Christmas time. Wish this was available the time. Was looking at the Q4 tac but didn't like that you lost your rear sight if you mount a red dot. The PDP will end up on my list of guns to buy in the future if we are not infringed upon.

Just bought mine and can't wait to spend a few hundred $ breaking it in. Glad it takes PPQ mags. Nice review as usual. Imagine they will make a steel frame model at some point.

The angle of the grip literally forces you to have a proper handle on the gun. Good for new shooters.

Great review, but I didn’t see a difference between the take up of the triggers. “A considerable amount less.” I watched it a few times, and they looked identical.

I found it amazing that the PDP has a lighter slide than the PPQ even though it has those beefed up serrations. Obviously did some milling somewhere to compensate for it. Great review, thx.

I’m just really happy that Walther changed their grip design (Stipling). I love the new design more. And the trigger is better with less than 5 lbs. Triggers should be less than 5 lbs. Even a constant 4.8 lbs is 💯% 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️

I first bought a Walther PPSM2 and was so pleased that my wife surprised me with the PDP 4.5” full sized. Put a Holosun RedDot and a MCG Laser on it, and I can tear the center out of dead center. Love this firearm! Probably try to find a 4” Compact next to carry instead of the PPS.

Really like the shorter extractor design. Appears to be a flat shooter? Intrigued with its innovation. Great overview, Ty Sootch.

I love my P99as and will NEVER sell it. I e owned 2 PPQs and ended up selling them. Wonder if the PDP might be the ticket for me.

Problems with the PPQ grip??? Thats the first time I have heard that said anywhere. My PPQ sticks to my hand just as well as any other gun I have fired. I do agree with your comments on the slide release though. Fails to lock back all the time due to my thumb. Still my GTW gun though. Light, concealable and very accurate. Never fails either. Shoots any ammo out there and doesn't need to be cleaned. I went 12 months without cleaning my PPQ to see if I could get it to malfunction but no problems. You could bet your life on it.

The bore axis is still too high for a striker-fired pistol of this weight. Walther should have also gone with a dual captured recoil spring which has proven to reduce recoil and extend its life. I would have liked to have known the slide and frame weights separately compared with the PPQ. They must have removed a lot of material from that large slide to have the overall weight down from the PPQ which was already too light for its bore axis in my opinion. Also, both times you pulled the trigger it seemed as if the PPQ trigger broke more cleanly. Personally, I don't see how shortening the take up on a PPQ trigger makes it better. I can shoot my Langdonized Beretta PX4 Storm Compact or my SIG P229 Enhanced Elite as accurately in DA as I can anything else with the initial trigger pull. After that the PDP/PPQ both have a short 1/10th inch reset comparable to the guns I mentioned which is what makes it quick (so the take up doesn't matter for follow up shots); a shortened take up just makes it marginally less safe when people are flying on autopilot (which happens as we are all human). It doesn't look like Walther eliminated the thumb knuckle issue that plagues the P99, PPQ and PPS for many people (the corners of the rear portion of the tang area slam some people's thumb knuckles whose hands ride high up on pistols). The Glock compatible sights is by far the best upgrade along with the grip texturing for those not interested in a red dot (many are not), though I see that's exactly why they were permitted to have them now that red dots are cutting into the sight business considerably. The gun is also uglier than the PPQ (though that is completely subjective). Overall, I would say this is a swing and a miss and not a home run in my opinion. I would say it was a home run for a PPQ Mod 2, but for a all knew platform it is a fail. No, I don't have a PPQ, so I am not bitter, but that bore axis is still way too high and there is no reason for that in my opinion (other than the demands of a firearm oligopoly). For a compact gun I am happy staying with my Beretta and SIG. Granted, I had to spend a lot of money on the Beretta to get it to where it is, but it is far superior to most pistols on the market as is the legendary classic P series of SIG pistols. In my opinion, no striker fired gun measures up to those pistols, and I've owned most of them. But then again, I don't have to do gun reviews, so I'm fine being both objective and communicating my personal biases.

The grip and serrations make this gun amazing. I also think it looks much better than the ppq.

While I watch a number of reviews before buying a firearm, I always specifically search for your reviews as part of my research. You helped sell me on the Springfield saint Victor and now I'll be picking up the Walther PDP fullsize. Take it easy bro
