I talk about the new miniatures for the Stormcast Eternals and their updated Liberators which are going to be taking to the battlefields of The Mortal Realms soon with the new edition of Warhammer Age Of Sigmar.

I look over the new designs for the Stormcast Eternals and also talk about the loss of two factions for Warhammer Age Of Sigmar and some of the older miniatures in the range being put out to pasture.
What do you make of the new Stormcast Eternals Liberators and do you like the slimmed-down look? What do you make of the tweaks to the range as a whole?

They are more in line with a classic "knight" look that's for sure

It's an indication of how, to be honest, bloated the Stormcast faction has become when they're losing more units and characters than some factions have altogether. Sure, it sucks if you'd gone hard into Sacrosant and ignored the other chambers, but as you say you'll likely be able to proxy most of the units as something else in the short term. Trimming the Warcry warbands does make some sense, too. Having to stat and balance all those one-off units it's a whole lot of extra work for potentially little benefit. That doesn't mean they can't bring them back in a future supplement, either.

True - it probably needed a trim as you say. I will be interested to see what characters they introduce in the new edition to fill some of the gaps. We have a lot of priests, mages and tacticians in the Thunderstrike vibe but no real martial heroes other than Yndrasta. I am eager to see where Warcry goes. Maybe getting something Mordheim-esque with Cities Of Sigmar Vs Skaven in Blightcity?

@@BecauseOfDragons the new chamber does seem to be a bit more combat-focussed, so there's hope there. As for Warcry, I don't know if they'd go straight for Blight City. The other settings have been in the same Realm, but off in their own 'corner'. It's possible they set it somewhere on the outskirts where Blight City is starting to encroach on the surroundings, gradually corrupting them as the releases go on.

@@AndrewMcColl Ah that would be a good idea - some ruined sections of Hammerhal infested with Skaven perhaps.

@@BecauseOfDragons or even a ruined settlement on the other side of Blight City. That would allow people to use their AoS3 CoS terrain right away, and let them keep releasing more while the spotlight shifts off the crusades.
