Im 50 years old now.. after listening, it sure made me emotionally happy and sad at the same time because of how the world has changed. A time where there weren’t any iPhone, iPads or worrying about how fast the internets. Friends were made face to face with out wearing a mask. A lot of time playing outside the house and going to Malls. I had and have good memories of my youth growing up in the 80s. Wishing I could go back just for a few hours and feel it again.
I almost cried reading this, the words of an old soul, much better times on this planet back then, things much simpler and pure. I use to carry 4 quarters in my pocket always in case I need to call my mom I could find a phonebooth, I'd give anything to go back to those days. Grew up in Miami 70's & 80's, wow, what an era that was !!

Only a beautiful soul would listen to this type of music. We were a different type of breed. The cool breed, The Best! This music actually meant something feelings from the heart ❤️.I grew in the 80s right when MTV first came out. I got my first taste of new wave music, and my whole persona changed. Lol. I was captivated and I was a new creature. It was an excellent time.
Actually broke down and cried when I heard this mix. Brought back so many emotions thinking about my youth in the 80's with school, relationships and having fun in the clubs. What a time to be alive... although I know it's important to keep moving forward... I, for one day, would love to teleport back in time to 1985 - even if it's for just one day. What a BLAST!

I started college in 1979, fist real job in 1983, going to clubs, hanging with my friends, after college I had money in my pocket, traveled to Hawaii, Cayman Is, Europe, Mexico great decade for me! Damn I miss the 80's

Born in 81 and missed this music due to being so young, but that doesn't mean I can't catch up. Since mid 2000's I have loved 80's music. It really seemed like a cool time to be a teen/young adult.

Listening in 2021 This year I will be 61. The 1980s were the best years in my life. Great music: Punk, alternative, new wave, great local bar bands & big hair bands. Eclectic, punk rock & vintage inspired fashsion wear. Hair styles were statements. Holidays & weekends spent dancing all night at the clubs, then party until the morning. When I die I hope my spirit will transform back to 21 and transcends into a heaven of the1980s.
Oh Tenna... I so heartedly agree! 59 next month and wishing it was the '80s again. They were good years looking back. Dance clubs in the SF Bay area when I was a Navy squid back then... yeah. Happy memories.
We took so much for granted in the 80's....was too young to get behind the wheel in 70's.....The 80's was so jaded, special, euphoric, heart pounding, comatose, fashionable, cliche', experimental, coming of age, morose, and exciting part of our lives. Forever 80's!!!
Indeed. I'm mid 50s. Slightly too young to get into punk in 77. 79/80 was my awakening. The post punk era through to the shoe gazing era of late 80s, early 90s. So much development and experimentation in music and youth culture. Factory, Rough Trade, 4AD and Creation had many of the best artists. Not really possible again.

I just love the late 70's and 80's. That was my teenage period. It's great some of those bands are still playing and releasing records. Wish I had grabbed my vinyl collection instead of leaving in my mates garage............ saw some great bands live, post punk, 80's retro, new wave. I always remember DMR concert and ending up in their dressing room as a 15yo. "Geno, Geno, Geno......."
We were so lucky to have grown up in the 80s. I feel sorry my kids didn't have the same experience. Pub bands every weekend. We even had famous Aussie bands play at my Sydney high school at lunch time.
Millennial here that enjoyed tail end of the 80s. Literally dancing in the bathroom stall at my job right now with headphones on. Best decade of the 20th century as far as music goes.
Exactly my kind of music, punk rock, new wave, alternative. I was born in the summer of 69 and spent my teenage years in the 80s. What a wonderful time, when I listen to this music I think of my first love, the carefree time, etc... I miss it! 😢
I'm 55 next week... Looking back, the 80s were a brilliant period, despite the political and industrial troubles in the UK. Oh how I miss my youth years!

Born in 1975. C/O '94. Raised up on MTV and Friday Night Videos... I remember the 80s well. I was a holdout in the age of alternative and grunge. I had a Fiero when they weren't cool and still loved The Cars, Blondie, and The Cure. Yes I was weird. I didn't care.
Born in '69. I was 17 years old in '86 when I finished school and I'm an 80's music fan through and through. I particularly love this genre of music i.e. The Smiths, The Cure, Joy Division, New Order etc. Manchester just seemed to churn these brilliant bands out by the dozen and to me the music from that era is timeless. Takes me back to days when I was young and carefree and the future was limitless. Aaah - the nostalgia of passed youth.....
The 80's was the best era in music. You had Funk, new wave, disco, hard rock, southern rock, progressive rock, country, jazz and metal, all in the same ten year period.
And on the same station in some places. Thank you KLCC. Lane County Community College radio station gave me all that plus Dr. Demento on Sundays, Wolfman Jack on Friday nights. Full albums on Saturdays. Radio plays like Green Lantern and The Shadow. Thank you '80s, 2024 is calling, they just need a cup of nuclear fallout drills, and we need to some Thai Stick for modern weaponized weed.

A cure of health and free-minded life, although some (many) songs are (a little big) dark .... but times were simpler ! That was the just great balance !! Strangely it makes me feel happy and confortable to be single, cause I can dance and sing and shout without being judged.... And I completely enjoyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy it !!! So let's share !!!!!!!!!!!!

It was better live, but then weren't we all. I am profoundly aware we are living through the greatest epoch mankind will ever know, no other generation will experience time as we have, all prior human experiences and advancements combined couldn't compare to what each of us individually have seen in the average year. It is truly humbling. And to each of you, my fellow travelers, it has been my honor and my priviledge. I couldn't have asked for better company. Through the ups and downs, the smiles and the frowns, whether we were getting along or being pushed along, regardless if you were an intimate partner or are forever simpy a notion passing in a thought, thank you. I hope you have what tou need and find what you want, and hope you agree - it has been one hell of a trip.

Fantastic time to be young! I had moved to OC and LA area from Boston end of '82. Listen to Block Party weekends from KROQ and 91X out of San Diego. Hang on the beach. Go to great concerts; INXS, Cure, Oingo Boingo, Talking Heads, Fixx, Nina Hagen, New Order, saw Grateful Dead bunch of times. Jacuzzi partys. Great weed! Insane good times!! Great mix and segues between tunes!!

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrooooooooooooooooooooo, that first transition from The Church to The Cure was *buttery* smooth. I didn't even know it was happening until it had already happened. God damn, son! Large.
It took me by surprise too! I had my phone in my wallet and RU-vid was doing its thing. I just thought it was scrolling through various individual tunes, and then the transition - whoa!
So I’m cleaning up my house and put on the mix and immediately I’m transported to my days going to an old converted church called the limelight in NYC. I would be in a trance dancing and listening to this music. It was different. Not your typical dance music which is why I loved it so much. I felt like it was for the outcasts. That was where I wanted to be with the outcasts the misunderstood and weirdos. 😎
A lot of people saying they are turning 60 and still listening to these songs, while me over here turning 20, thinking: " Well shit, i've got a looong way to go" 😂
You do, but time flies by like lightning. Especially when one starts working, living their lives. We use to say so long ago, time flies by starting at 21. Five year increments are like a blink of the eye. Good luck kid!
To the young masters of tomorrow of both sexes. You have a foundation, a heritage of music, prebuilt for your discovery and for your exploration. New Wave was one notch on the timescale of our international cultural development. Our music reflects our personal interpretations of our universally shared times. It's in us and it's gotta' come out. Self-awareness comes in all flavors and intensities from Beatles to Bob Marley. Roll in the intentions behind these songs. Get the smell of them in your souls and revel in your own creative urges when you actually feel them. Sing like no one else is looking and improvise your own words when the urges hits you. That's you being you and pushing us forward.
I think It's a good idea reviewing the old music to better understand currently styles. I try to do so, but I can't bear with some today so-called music.

The greatest thing about this music is how in a nanosecond it can bring me rushing back to my youth. Child of the 70s and 80s. Born in 71 I grew up on 70s and 80s punk, pop, new wave and then 90s Alternative. A loner in school. Spent many hours listening to this stuff. This is a most excellent mix!!!
Same here! I was born in 1973. I always thank God that I was born when I was. We have got to experience so much great music, and didn't have to grow up to the audible cancer they call music today!
@@JenX_1973 theres literally music made today that sound exactly like this, you just don't care (and neither do I), because these aren't our formative years. Plus obvious the cultural scene is just fucking weird and bizarre in a different way now. Great heartfelt classic music is always out there though, it's just there's so much now, and the delivery systems so splintered and vast, it can be hard for it you find you.
Almost the same story mate. I' was born in '72. and grew up in former Yugoslavia. It was really really hard to find this kind of music and enjoy in it, but somehow we managed to do it. When I say WE, I mean few of us in high school. We had a friend who had realtives in London and oh boy can you imagine that patienece we had to put in ourselves waiting for them to come for holidays from England and bring new tapes/LP's. Those were beautiful times.... and yes... so proud of my kids they also follow my steps. Never pushed them to listen what I've listened, just let them search and enjoy what they like. Any you know what? Few days ago my younger 13yrs old daughter came to me asking me for Nine Inch Nails - Downward Spiral and how she thinks that's great song. It was best present for me for New Year :-)

@Matthew Penfold I was describing the teen scene with my now teen kids, how we gathered in groups and talked in person rather than phone in the 80s. We looked forward to partying, since many of us were teens and broke anyways. We spread info thru flyers, word of mouth and socializing. Everyone came together from all parts of the city and suburbs, we had fun no matter how you looked, danced, how much money you had or didn't have. There was such a big "underground' alternative scene back then that was hard to describe. Thank you RU-vid you are my personal Tardis time machine.
In my 18 Years that I live now I'm proud to say that I found this music myself. This music has become so meaningful for my heart that I always feel home. Nothing else brings such joy and melancholia in my live than this.

Graduated in 1984 from Westmoor High School in Daly City. We used to go party in the City " San Francisco" at all the clubs: DNA, Dv8, The Palladium, Das Klub, and others that played this kind of stuff. I keep coming back, because this mix reminds me of how wonderful it was to grow up in S.F in the 80's. Best times ever!
