I’ve actually been thinking of getting one of these for smaller work and sketchbook work especially with gouache . I’ve been toying with the medium or the small. I’d love seeing you use it with a sketchbook. The painting was awesome! I’m a sucker for plein air! Once you get a few under your belt you’ll see a big difference in your painting. This turned out lovely Josie!

Thank you! I’ll do some filming when I’m using a sketchbook with it, I’m keen to see how well it holds up with all my many sizes of sketchbook… I’m also tempted to get the medium or large one too when I can justify it, then I’ll have all the options 😅 I’ve also asked for two of the side shelves for my bday (quite a weird present haha) so that will expand the area quite a bit!

@@JosieViolet they are a bit pricey aren’t they? I’ve been looking at trying to build my own but by the time I get supplies and tools it’s not really any cheaper. Those side trays do looks awesome. I’ve been wondering if you used a sketchbook if you’d need to clip it or if the panel holder would hold it sufficiently.

@@DannySabraArt from a very brief test the metal teeth held the Etchr sketchbook quite well, but it would really depend on what sketchbook you had and what size!

@@JosieViolet ok nice! I tend to use the pentalic aqua journal which i think is maybe half the size of etchr give or take? Hmmm. You might convince me to buy one of these! lol

I'm most comfortable with drawing in solid media, but I've been playing with the idea of developing my painting abilities. There's really a whole other world of possibilities with liquid media. I stumbled across your channel and these videos are very helpful and inspiring. Thanks, sister!

Hi Josie, thank you, I enjoyed watching that! I’ve just bought the Medium Sized U-Go pochade and tripod, and trialed it outside with a primed panel and gouache…..(it was a rather damp day here in Scotland and I really think I should have used oils or acrylics). The main thing that I noticed about the U-Go was that I barely noticed it, if that makes sense, the hinges were so strong there was no unwanted movement, and everything held as it should, so my focus was on the painting rather than any ‘issues’. Great work on your painting, I’m all for using as big a brush as possible too 👍😀

That sounds great, I’m jealous of your medium sized one - I’m tempted to even get the large if covid postal issues ever fix themselves! You’re totally right, they just work perfectly - leaving us to focus on the more challenging issue of actually painting something good 😂

Yep it's the 6 x 8 - I love it, I'd actually be able to carry it with me and not get back pain! Hope you are holding up ok, lockdown sucks big time. At least we have art to keep us busy :)

I have a small pochade box, but I love how compact yours is! Mine is way more bulky!

Yep it's veryyy small, I wanted something very light that I would be able to take with me anywhere, the only issue is I have to carry all my supplies separately as it doesn't have any kind of in-built storage!

Solid painting! Sorry to hear you are in such a strict lockdown, hopefully we can all safely be back to normal soon.. This easel seems ideal for a really portable travel kit, I will have to check one out Also for gouache check out Cup Easels, I dig em!

Thanks! Painting is definitely one of the few things keeping me sane at the moment... Cup Easels look great, I know someone who has something similar called the Stablo. At this point I have two hobbies: painting, and collecting cool things that help me paint 😂

As I use water soluble oils I don’t need solvents, I just use water to thin (not too much though) and masters brush cleaner to clean up afterwards 👌

I'm leary about getting the side trays. They seem Jacky and I don't want the extra weight or bulk. How could you attach solvent? Do you think it would be possible to just clip it on the side of the palette?

Yep you definitely could just clip or hang a solvent, means you have less to carry!
