Whow ! It looks amazing ! That bronze is perfect, better than the white I think. I am looking for a set of wheels for my ND too. It's a hard choice between looks and weight. If I spend that kind of money I'd like to drop some unsprung weight and for the looks you need to go bigger which even with lighter alloys, once you add the weight of the wider tire you end up pretty much back with the oem weight. Since I don't track the car and drive it fast mainly on very bumpy narrow country roads with rough surface I don't want to stray too far from stock specs. I read someone mentioned ultralight OZ Allegeritas in 17/7 . Those don't have the looks of these but save 2kg per corner. Different approach.... Thanks for the great video it's very informative and has helped me make up my mind.... I'll go with bronze as well 😉

Maz! is it et35 or 38? Description says 35 but your outro says 38. Also what suspension were you running during this set up, do you think stock bilsteins with lowered springs could manage +35? I held off with the purchase of the Hypergrams 17x8 +45, wanting a lesser spoke wheel - cleaning the stock BBS's were the bane of my existence!
ET35 is the correct ET on those wheels. I had MeisterR Clubrace when I had those wheels. I don't think there should be any issues with a "proper" aligment with regards to 8"+ET35 combo on a 215/45 tire at least. I had no rubbing with mine not even on track.
Super editing and enjoyable video with loads of good info. I have an nd2 and planning to get a particular wheel with specs 17x7.5 +40. I'm curious if a 5mm change in offset will affect the scrub radius in any negative way in terms of handling. Or whether it would affect the hub bearings. Any thoughts would be great. Hope I'm just overthinking it and a 5mm change is nothing too serious.
thank you, glad you liked it! Should not be any issues at all as such! There are a lot of folks running 18x8 ET35 or e.g. 9" wheels with ET45 (which gives more or less the same setup) What I would say has most impact on the driving are the tires and the weight of the wheels. I understand that the specific wheels you have found only comes in ET40 but I would try to find a wheel I like with the "proper" ET from the get-go. Also the spacers eventhough only 5mm(not much weight) do add some unsprung weight. I am not sure what size of spacers that are possible and retaining the OEM lugs. But in general I would not worry to much
@@Themazcorner My stock wheels are the 17inch 8 spokes that weight about 8.3kg. Wheels I plan on getting are 6.8kg so maybe the lighter weight would reduce any effect of a more positive scrub radius if there was any effect at all. But as you say, there's probably no discernible difference. Looking forward to getting around to more of your videos as I saw your coilover install and even the lift review. Very nice, looks or suites the car much better than the König wheels, but the weight was quite surprising. I was looking for new wheels for the exact same car and ordered the OZ Alleggerita HLT 17x7 ET 37, since these are certified (have TÜV) for the MX-5 and these weight 6,29kg even when an inch thinner, but not forged. Planning also to use certified tires, Yokohama Advan Neova AD08RS 205/45 R17.

First of all, very nice looking car, the wheels suit it very well and I think I wouldn't like them in white 😅 I have a question: I'm really struggling to find 5 spoke wheels that will fit brembo brakes, and that will also be road legal in France. I have to respect the 17*7 ratio, but the wheels also must not overlap the fenders. Is that the case with these wheels ? I was considering Desmon Regamaster Evo II but they're in 17*8, and Enkei PF05 are too heavy for my taste. Do you know any other wheels with the same design that could fit in my requirements ? Btw, can I ask why you chose the 17x8 et+35 instead of the 17x7.5 et+40? The latter wheel is lighter and will give less stretch to the tire as well. I am leaning towards the narrower and lighter one, however, I really like how your fitment looks. Do they rub? So hard to decide! Lol.
I went with 8" to have better support for a wider tire and also no sure how the 7.5 fits over the brembos. Should not be an issue though. Sorry for the delayed response. I would say it would depend on the profile and also which tire and also if you are lowered or not. The are folks running 225 without any issues from what I have seen

What size tires are you running? also the offset and the wider wheel is what gave you the more aggressive look you aren't using spacers are you? i am wondering if i can do this set up my car is not lowered though.
those tires where 215/45 Cup 2s. No spacers the ET35 on the 8" wheel sits like that. A 17x8 ET35 with 215/45 tires are no issues as such. However you would need to maybe redo the alignment not to have any rub e.g. on full lock. With that said on a none lowered car there might not be an issue at all
sorry for the late reply I would say it depends on the tire also what profile tire, how much the car is lowered and also what camber and caster you would be running. But from what I have been seeing 235/40 should work without issues with a "proper" alignment. To get the camber needed could be that the car needs to be lowered
Hi. I have a 2019 MX-5, Grand Touring. I don’t know much about wheel options so sorry for the basic questions. Are there any pros or cons to getting 18” wheels? It seems like there are a lot more 17” options.
Generally a car is designed with different aspects in mind and one of them is which wheel/tire size to run from a performance perspective. By increasing the diameter you have to potentially run a lower profile tire to get the same/similar rolling diameter. In general getting a taller tire/wheel combination compared to OEM will reduce the way the car accelerates and of course then also has impact on the driving feel. I would also assume the 18" wheels are heavier (in most cases)

I have not change the alignment specs at all! I will for next year increase the height of the read and to a more aggressive alignment as I will get new tires as well. I am running a hybird between FM and Goodwin recommendations
@@Themazcorner I’m trying to fill my wheel gap. I’m currently on 17x7 rpf1 with the stock tires at 205/45/17. Did I mess up by staying with 17 inch rims , preciously didn’t wanna fill it but now I do. I need 18 to fill the gap. Or what suggestions do you have. Thank you for your help
@@justinguerrero6357 I would say for the dynamics of the car sticking with 17 or even 16" is the best! On a 7" wide rim you can go up to a 215/45 tire which will make the tire a look a bit more "meaty" and can trick the eye with regards to the stance! Obivously a wider tire will provide more grip and a 45 section on a 215 should also increase the ride comfort as there will be more tire profile compared to the 205 with a 45 section profile. However the best way to take care of the gap and get some more benefits(in my opinion) is to have lowering springs installed or even better coilovers where the ride height can be adjusted. Apart from the looks, you will get lower the center of gravitiy, will give you the possibility to go with more negative camper and will also reduce some of the boat roll the ND/ND2 has from factory! A set of lowering spring/coilovers and aftermarket swaybars will transform the car completely for the positive (in my opinion) with regards to driving dynamics!
I hate how so many of these 17x8 and 17x9 wheels everyone is buying (Konig, for example) are +35. They really look sunken as you dial in more and more negative camber.
Yes even with the more aggressive ET35 the sit a bit tucked specially as you say going with more negative camber. It's only the Volks that have ET25, but that is on the 16" rims I believe
@@Themazcorner I had a typo above, I meant most of them are +45. I'm looking at these in +35 or the TE37 in +35 if I can find someone that actually has a set in stock.
@@opmike343 yeah 45 with 8" rims are are a little bit to tucked in. Going 9" would take care of that :) I had the option to actually get TEs but wanted something that looked a bit more concave. Hence the TC4s however they are heavier though... Also have been looking at a set of Desmond Regamasters in white, but the prices have gone up so much and with shipping and customs/vat they will get to expensive.
Actually the fit and finish on the Koenigs-wheels I had at least was on par with the Advans. Both also use flow-form so from a strength perspective not sure if there is a difference either. However id does not matter the car looks better with the Advans :)
