Today, we have a caboose coming into the car shop for some contract work. It is painted for Rutland Railway and I've been asked to do a list of repairs.

Lovely video work, made better with just the train and no people. The railway looks great with all the vegetation, although I'm guessing you might want to get rid of the stuff in the middle of the track. Keep up the good work. 😎

The vegetation does cause traction issues.

I agree, the weeds give the line such a cool run down look and lend it a lot of character. Too bad they cause traction issues.

I like the van in toe looks good same paint scheme ( van is canadian for caboose)

We had vans here, too. It depends on the railroad. The van does look good in that paint scheme. It's going to be freshened up and finished with Rutland Railroad lettering.

You can transform the tank car into a weed sprayer and spray the weeds on the tracks
@MillBrookRailroad
@MillBrookRailroad 26 дней назад
@@JonathanColemanMoreTrains That's exactly the purpose of the tank car. To become a weed sprayer.

Heh. When I saw the thumbnail the other day, I almost messaged you to see where you got the Rutland caboose.
@MillBrookRailroad
@MillBrookRailroad 22 дня назад
@TaltosVT It will soon be a Rutland caboose, or at least something sort of close to one. The windows and the cupola are in the wrong positions, and the steps are the wrong size, but we're not counting rivets here.

Someone needs to get the MoW crew out and work on clearing the weeds. Maybe not MoW but MOW!

Your MOW crew need to get that ROW mowed before a bad wreck happens so you can avoid a bad derailment and get sued for causing property damage
@MillBrookRailroad
@MillBrookRailroad 25 дней назад
The worst thing that can happen with weeds on the ROW is loss of traction. It's not going to cause a wreck. Especially at the speeds we're going. Also, nobody can sue you for property damage if you wreck your own train on your own property. Who would sue? I'm not going to sue myself to force myself to fix what I broke when I derailed my own train. Instead, I'll just fix it.

So cool to see Ossipee caboose...euh.. i mean MILB RR caboose back in service after years of idleness. Like that grassy branchline look. It doesn´t seem to interfere with trains. In fact it will cushion when something fed up of running decide to kiss ballast and ties... as long as it stays grass and not "bush" type of vegetation. Since you probably hadn´t time to play grass killing, you save time & money. I don´t think they´re will be a huge impact on ties life. Just be sure there´s NO poison ivy ! Every year i hunt them to see they´re back in 30 feet range next year. Only seedings of the year get killed. People will complaint about Round Up, well i found a stronger commercial grade. At 240 $ a jar, i´ll see results next year. In the meantime they get dark brown/black in less than 12 hours. For those than don´t know those beasts, they´re queen of embush and camouflage. The ramping type among stawberries, bush, i don´t have, and vines that climb on poles, trees among virginia creepers. Even if they play in light or dark green, dull or shiny, they roughly look like strawsberries and more like rasperries. Sometimes really hard to see who is who. Rasperries have spiked all along their stem, even tiny ones. Poison ivy have none. Last year i couldn´t search everywhere, too many grown trees fell on the ground. Without that yearly chase, some spot have car size this year ! It´s the ONLY vegetation i try to get rid off. Like too much nature but when they grown even against the house, thanks to birds poop, and having cats that go everywhere, i´m fed up like you have no idea. Last year i got it on ankles and lower legs and still have skin scars ! And i´m sure i wasn´t in contact with it. I never goes in tall grass without long scrutining while walking. Sorry for that long bla bla. They also like the forest frontier with grassy bushy field. Hope it will be useful. Thanks Aaron for that old time train when caboose marked the end.

@@danielfantino1714 This isn't the Ossipee Caboose. It's a customer's caboose. The weeds do cause a lot of issues with tie condition and traction.
