Not for the Birds: Wood Pellet Train WP-1

We're running the wood pellet train today, Mill Brook train WP-1, from where the home center dropped the pallet for us to the sugar house storage building. First, we load the big 105 flat car, then we need to get the wooden flat cars that are stored in the sugar house. We'll bring all three cars to the sugar house at once and then put everything away again.
In the process, we'll deal with some birds who want to dig out the ballast.

I watched the video again. I can watch model trains all day. So this was another eggciting video. The funny part was the chicken run. You should know when one gets out the rest somehow follow. A friend used to have 10 chickens. One would get out and somehow the other nine figured how the one got out.

It be cool if The Vermont PELLETS Company install a rail spur into the sugar House for storing bags of PELLETS on your beautiful flat cars to keep your cars protected from the weather and from taking cars off tracks😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤

I do have pride in what I've built. I've put a lot of time and effort into building the railroad and some of the equipment over the years, but I don't have miles of track. Only 970 feet. That's all I could afford to build. It serves its purpose, though. Thanks for watching!

It strikes me that if you either ran a siding through your sugar house an extended it somewhat, you could leave the loaded cars in there and collect what you want as and when, without having to manually load and unload each time

I don't have enough cars to do that. Not yet anyway. The thought has crossed my mind, though.

Those chickens are a sneaky bunch, eh? I notice you call the storage building the "sugar house." Was there once an active sugaring operation on the property?
@MillBrookRailroad
@MillBrookRailroad 7 месяцев назад
I produced maple syrup one year, then realized I needed a building for it, so I built the sugar house out of pallets. It's far from being finished, and I have yet to buy an evaporator, but that's what it's going to be, so that's what I call it.

He already built that. It was sitting on the back of the train. He already has one and built a couple more. It's been about six months to a year that the video came out.
@brutus1102
@brutus1102 7 месяцев назад
Hey Aaron, great video. Two questions came to mind while watching. First, do you stop the train to re-position the camera or just run for the next shot?? Second, does the 7.5" gauge community have a standard for coupler height? Or was the difference I saw because of the 2.5" scale car next to a 1.5" scale car??
@MillBrookRailroad
@MillBrookRailroad 7 месяцев назад
I stop the train and back it up between shots. It takes a lot longer to shoot a video of a train than it does just to run the train. The coupler height is an interesting issue. There is a standard, but it is not closely followed. The hobby in North America suffers for lack of a clear, complete recognized standard.
@brutus1102

that engine as some power for 42 bags at 40lbs per. 1680Lbs load what is the max weight it can pull?
@MillBrookRailroad
@MillBrookRailroad 7 месяцев назад
The max wihout voiding the warranty is a 2500 pound train up a 2.5% grade. The max before smoke is 3 tons on a 1.5% grade, but burning traction motor is not something you want to smell.
@didyou555
@didyou555 7 месяцев назад
Why is it that you have a singular 2.5 in scale EBT flatcar and two normal scale flatcars?
@MillBrookRailroad
@MillBrookRailroad 7 месяцев назад
There was only one 2.5" scale car available at the time, and the guy who made it isn't making them anymore. The two 1.5" scale flat cars were left here when the owner joined the circus (Seriously. He was a train master for Ringling Brothers.). I bought them from him after a couple years. I used to have other 1.5" scale flat cars, but I needed money, so I sold them. I have plans to build more 2.5" scale flat cars, but that'll be some time in the future.

Remember, The chickens are in charge no matter what you think. The cat or cats are in charge. You are lower on the food chain then the animals because it looks like they are taking over. You will have to stop worrying when you find animal fur in the nooks and crannies in the train engine. 🤣🤣🤣
