New World Closed Beta - Leveling Speed Run 1 to 10
I wanted to see how fast you could actually level to 10 during the beta, trying to get ahead of the rest of people is going to be key. The level 9 1/2 onwards is rough because you get the quests for your faction.
Unfortunately for me I got the dreaded elusive sheep quest where you have to kill and skin 3 sheep. Not many spawns, and it probably added a good 5-10 minutes onto the run. But it was in the same area as the other quest.
Harvested some ore/stone/wood and skinned the wolves that were in my way, then used those to refine for XP when I got back to town.
The biggest key is where you make sure you have 40 stone, 40 wood and 20 hides before you hit the town for the first time. Leaving the coast with that and about 70-100 herbs in your bags is going to make the XP a little better.
By the time you have to return to the wolf area after you do your intro faction quest, you get about 100 water at the nearby pool of water for later. Then skip up the mountains to get back.
Overall, 1 hr 13 min approximate time is pretty dang good. The /played didn't show up at the end in "Area" only in global which is stupid but... oh well. Beta.
