Sorry, this is a never-ending fight for you, Josh. I know a bit of programming, and I asked my friend who knows A LOT. This will never end. You keep chasing rats that will never stop coming. As long as the user has power over the game from the client, which is in the base code, this will never end. Look at DS1. They had the same.

The first 30 levels are a nice experience but the fundamentals and foundations of the game need a LOT of work. Given its AGS they are noobies and got cocky as hell for some reason thinking throwing money into a game makes success

It's hilarious. FYI: The general method gets widely referred to as code injection. It can happen in basically any kind of user interface to query a database or any kind of code snippet so this bug is a huge oversight and just terrible programming.

They treat their release of the game as just another round of beta testing. I reported a bunch of exploiters in wars that we lost more than 2 weeks ago now.. no answers, I then talk to 3 customer service reps, (first two just disconnected my discussions) and the third one I was online with for 40 minutes until they told me "you just need to be more patient about these things.", And then disconnected; they don't give a shit, so I'm not playing this game anymore. I didn't realize I paid full price for a beta test/early access game, seeing as it was marketed as "release" to me. Wars have devolved nto an arms race of who can discover more/better bugs to use against the enemy..

On my server, we had a guy who used that glitched item text to put the N word in chat. He kept spamming it. Other players couldn't report or block him because it required you to mouse over the text that would crash your game.

Haha xeno its so much worse. I was the initial reporter of this bug. They fixed it by putting an WORD filter (wouldnt wanna actually fix it) which we bypassed 4 seperate hotfixes to get around, while learning you could crash the entire server chat and other shenanigans. What a game

You should have seen Josh's yesterday stream...a guy in chat managed to lengthen Josh's stream because he insisted that in his opinion if Josh points out the flaws of the game that will make the game die instead of motivating the devs to fix it....and the argument went for like 2 hours

@@stevegibson3113 -- I think most players who watch streams don't realize that the playerbase that watch streams, go to websites, and watch RU-vid videos related to specific games is a small portion of the playerbase. We care enough to find additional information on games. Most players aren't like that. The most some people will do is Google an in game issue. They won't go find a stream or RU-vid video. We know Josh but the average New World player doesn't know him. Millions are playing or have played New World. Maybe a few thousand play New World and have seen Josh videos. That viewer was just being hyperbolic. Doesn't understand the scope of the world. Just living in his own private bubble and thinking it is how everyone lives.

Tera actually had this exact same issue where a certain Emote in the game was able to run HTML code and do the exact same thing they're showing in New World which is hilarious to me.

New World has learned nothing from the mistakes of other MMOs (and other MMO-adjacent online games). Every game-breaking bug and critical design flaw has been dealt with and learned the hard way by other devs in the last 10 years, and AGS is clearly taking PR lessons from Blizzard with their "we know better than you" attitude and penchant for blatantly lying out the ass about game issues

I knew this game was an over hyped failure at first sight. whoever is so in love with it is like a kid who didn't own a playstation memory card and repeats his games over and over with the same kind of amusement.. on top of that, its content is limited with no replayablity and people already burst through it in every version of the game that's been out. it literally doesn't offer anything new or anything that hasn't been seen before. just imaginary ideas that couldn't be applied with being bugged and busted. looks plain and mediocre at first glance.

Reminds me of old school Ragnarok Online bugs where after a patch you could obtain some new item and drop it in the city and anyone who didn't update the client would get yeeted. That obviously lead to prontera purge speedrunning. But that was 20 years ago ffs

I remember that guild wars 2 had code that you could link and it was crashing the game for people that hovered mouse over it they fixed it but it was funny if i remember right it was one specific item so you could just avoid that one item linked on chat and it was fine. I never had problems with it. Guild wars 2 is using specific codes to link items or locations and you can edit them but only using existing items for example you can take banana and add item upgrade for it like "penetration" to link [&AgHbLwBAuV8AAA=] this will work as normal banana link but name of the item will change to "Banana of Penetration" Have fun with that.

Played the alpha and it was basically a survival game. Tried the beta after being asked to and it still felt like a survival game. Seeing the game through RU-vid videos about how it's failing and it still looks like a survival game to me with not much changed from the alpha. Glad I stayed away.

Asking people how to reproduce the bugs when they report them is completely reasonable. It makes it easier for the devs to go through and check that an issue is indeed a big and help narrow down what the actual cause is so they can potentially fix it quicker. The issue lies in the fact that these posts are publicly viewable. They should locked from anyone viewing them except the original poster, the admins, and the devs. Edit: Support tickets would also work, this is comment is specifically referencing the forum issue.

There is a lot of copium and white knighting even from popular 14 streamers that are playing it. As I previously said on another video, the devs have the Blizzard mentality of “we are right and you are wrong.” A game that was delayed as many times as this game should not have these game breaking bugs. I feel when they fix a bug, they cross their fingers and hope that it doesn’t break something else. They should come out and admit they messed up, it would go a long way with players. They have their canned response of “we are working on it” but nothing concrete as to what they are doing, so different to Yoshi P. Us 14 players are spoiled.

^ yup they are paid look up any of the videos about the offers they get it's insane. Once someone is popular enough you cannot trust anything from them, they could be getting paid to really subtly slip in certain phrases or show you something very briefly it's all an ad and show.

Just going from fullscreen to windowed and back still leaves that weird Windows 98 old-style border around everything. This reveals that the development team are complete and utter noobs regarding Win32 system calls. When you move a windowed application the application will receive a lot of WM_MOVE messages and I suspect what's happening with the window move invulnerability is that the main game loop processing of network calls is being interupted. I haven't played New World for 3 weeks because real life. I've come back today to check things out and it's constantly crashing within 15 minutes without fail. This never used to happen before. I could play for hours before, once I could get into a server that is, but now I can't play for more than 15 minutes :/

How does this happen in a game? In my opinion it's because there is no passion in devs anymore, they're just doing it for a job and money. Back in the old days, even 10 years ago we used to get quality games because devs had a passion for making a good game, yes there were still bugs but nothing really game breaking. It's the lack of passion that makes people not double check and triple check or test everything. It's a little saddening.

I don't think this is true. I know a few people that work at AAA companies or have worked there and some of these games just have so many people working on them at a time, there's only so much each individual can look at. These devs are passionate at doing their task and contributing, but as the saying goes "too many chefs spoil the broth". After spending years studying and doing extra courses for various certifications, it's a bit unfair to blame somebody for taking a steady job that pays well either. Funnily enough, a lot of the indie scene is devs that worked at a larger studio and got tired of not having full control.

Have a question about warrior, since Xeno is a pretty high level tank, and it's open to anyone else who can answer: Shake it off - So you can buff it with Raw intuition, vengeance and thrill, but how does mitigation work when that shield is applied? So if I were to use shake it off just normally, 15% max HP shield, then use vengeance for the 30% mitigation, would that mean the shield therefore takes 30% less damage and is harder to break? Normally I wait until vengeance is just about to run out, then use it to apply the shield just for a little bit of extra beefiness for everyone. But as far as personal mitigation goes, is the extra % on the shield worth it in the end vs having the mitigation on top? I know that's not the usual way but even raw intuition to buff shake is another example. How does the mitigation stack exactly?

whenever you "eat" a war cooldown with shake it off, it just buffs the shield by +2%, so if you use all cooldowns, you would buff it to 21%. It doesnt pass own the benefits of the absorbed cooldowns, like veng 30% miti, thrills bonus hp and healing etc. so be mindful of using cooldowns like thrill and veng by themselves just to boost shake, but your example of using shake right at the end of veng after blocking heavy damage on yourself is a good example. Hope this helps

The reason why this happened (and I'm not appologising anyone here) is probably because very little time was dedicated to making a chat. Basically someone probably just sat down and did it in like 3 or 4 hours, and then never looked at it again because they had a million other things to code. And the testers didn't look at it because they had tight testing schedule of features in the game, and very little time dedicated (if any) to testing the interface. And let's face it - not everyone would think to insert HTML code into the chat. You kind of ASSUME that it's just a text window. TLDR: Rushed development and not enough testing resources. p.s. Amazon is rich, but they are also stingy. Loooking at NW I can tell that it's not the highest budget game. p.p.s. Yes it was delayed, but AFAIK their first iterations were so bad that they basically had to build a new game from the ground up again. So delays doesn't equal more time actually.

Only fun part is sieges and finding bugs. Rest of endgame sucks ass. But as a big Souls player, having "relatively" lagfree PvP with good action combat keeps me coming back. Atleast I don't need to waste money on a subfee.

I don't actually see anything redeeming from this game. I've played 80+ mmos over the last decade, good bad and ugly. People can say whatever they want about ff14 or gw2 or I even play Neverwinter because I'm an old school D&D nerd, all have slight issues and yes neverwinter's shop and updates suck sometimes but I've never personally found bugs in any of these games and I'm not sure even Square Enix is categorically "bigger" then amazon. Amazon has not had a successful game yet and I don't even think new world's graphics are all that and a bag of chips, they okay and that's it's only plus. I'll "still" give it a year (i don't see servers still up by then js) and maybe buy it on discount or a sale...maybe lol

Just some suggestions here but doing react stuff like this is fun and fine but you should let the video playout or a point , like for example in this each bug he brings up, do your opinion afterwards instead of pausing multiple times in between each point. Think it will make it easier to hear the video and better imo

Wont happen. Unlike FFXIV 1.0 putting SE in jeopardy, NW is pretty insignificant to Amazon as a whole. How is this in the game?! This is developer 101. If you don't learn it in college, then week 1 into real world development work you learn about Cross-Site Scripting and how to stop it. Was New World created by interns? At least hire ONE security person, Amazon. This is so basic, but at least have someone with security knowledge and certs looking over your game.

Why does New World still exist? It is made by one of the shittiest companies in the world. The game has constantly shown that the developers have no clue on what they are doing. Every patch introduces more bugs than it fixes. Why do people still care about this game, hell why did people even care in the beginning? I heard "Amazon" and I was gone. Edit when I was about 3 minutes in: Seems like Xeno is of the same opinion as me. I feel like my comment is repetitive of the video, but I will keep it up nonetheless in case anyone has an idea on how this mess of spaghetti code can still exist.
