New World's BIG Announcement 

Im sure all 16 players still playing this game will be excited for this!

“PvP island” is not the move. “Fort Frenzy” where players queue and are placed into either Attack or Defence teams and basically play Wars without taking territory. It’s practice and experience for the 98% of players that don’t get to experience wars. It would shake up metas, territory control and the replayability is endless. Far more people would play that then the same 20-30 people “controlling” pvp island. The new Fort mode could be scaled back to accommodate 30 vs 30 or 40 vs 40. Possibly by randomizing the 3 control points needed before breaching the Fort. Scale it down to 1 control point and randomize which of the the points it could be. At this point, the REAL problem is becoming more and more clear. It’s not the game that’s the problem, it’s the dev team. “Pvp island” will 100% be controlled by a small amount of gatekeepers. If you’re not one of the “cool kids” you won’t even be “allowed” on the island or you’ll get farmed. It’s such a terrible idea and I can already see the outcome of it. How THIS is their “great idea”, meanwhile acknowledging that only 2% of the player base ever gets to experience the best end game content in the game, wars, yet coming up with “pvp island” instead of something like “Fort frenzy”… that, right there, is the problem. It’s not the game, the modes, the content… it is 100% the dev team that’s the problem. Imo, the ONLY thing that has a chance of saving New World at this point, is either an entirely new dev team, or sell the game to a company who has a clue what they’re doing. Literally nobody cares about swimming at this point. We’ve navigated the map without it for 3 years now, and up until less than a year ago, we navigated it without mounts either. That is not a “big announcement”. BOTH should’ve been in the game at launch. They weren’t and now for 3 years we’ve managed without them. Mounts are nice, FINALLY, but swimming… where tf does ANYONE even care about swimming to?? And that part of the “big announcement” Console, IF crossplay, will get an “opt out” of crossplay option within 2-3 months absolutely max, mark my words. So to summarize the “big announcement in June”… - pvp island instead of Fort frenzy…. L - swimming, who gives a flying F***?? - console and fresh start servers. Again, who gives a flying F***?? ALL that will bring is more warloggers to those servers. At this point we’re all done grinding new characters. Speed run lvl 65, get your favourite artifact and gear, war log and grief the “noob console players” - POSSIBLY a new level cap and GS 725 NONE of that is going to keep players, bring them back or revive the game at all. “Fort Frenzy” alone would do more for the game than ANYTHING the devs have planned. It’s pathetic that they get paid to come up with such horrible ideas while a casual player can do better off the top of the head, without even trying or putting any effort into actually thinking about what would actually help the game. Wars are already in the game. The LEAST AGS could do with the biggest impact and they can’t even do that right. It’s not the game, it is 100% the dev team and they need to go! Nobody WANTS New World to fail. We WANT it too succeed and that’s why we’re still here. It will NOT happen with the current dev team. That’s just plain and simple facts

They need to bring back Level Scaling like it was initialy.

PvP Island is in no way big enough to justify this long wait. It has to be something much bigger that people aren't considering.

Now we just need new armor artists cause the armor is absolutely horrendous.

Not sure if the playerbase will bring popcorn and soda or just torches and pitchforks. We'll see I suppose.

I'm dreading the PvP island because if it's FFA, it will, one, just be friends grouping up (very easy with ranged), and, two, boring. NW's PvP is fun in group play - if you want 1v1s, etc. then play Arenas (which they should give more content for). Here's hoping they execute it and the other things well!

Remember people including me on the New World beta forum asking for something like a "PvP island" with higher rewards and higher risk. Seems a bit too little too late now though.

I don't see how they can do the whole "drop entire inventory" thing until they fix the god awful loot system. We're gonna be spending half the time we should be pvping into emptying our inventories and organizing them across various storages. Why they just don't give us universal storage still blows my mind. I also wonder how it'll work with gear sets because I could theoretically stash quite a few things in there since there's no way they'll make us empty all our gear sets.

i agree with most of this. also I assume the story will continue with the whole vampires and werevolves we saw in the last cinematic. only 4 to 5 weeks to know!

I highly doubt there will be a large player base on console

Controller support is for Lord of the Rings MMO. And they are being generous and honest putting some time and bringing into New World as well. + console release makes money

I am hoping they release cross play if they announce a console release and we get some fresh start servers. There was just something about grinding on a fresh start server that was just so satisfying. My buddy and I went hard in the paint on the last fresh start server release and it was the most fun I have had on the game period and I have over 1,000 hours played.

Now obviously I hope there’s a lot of quality of life fixes and server stability and optimization but also more replay-ability and another weapons or something and such

Rise of the Angry Earth expansion required for the PvP-island and swimming, I'd venture. Not that I'd buy it for either one of those features.

I also think it is going to be console, swimming and a raid as minimum, and the PvP maybe. Because of the obvious reasons. Console had it preperations, swimming is a core thing that completes the game more and raiding has been on the way because they said when they release Sandworm that it was as a "test" for future content of that kind. So I think it was for raiding as well as maybe more of those one-time bosses/trials to. I look forward to try and make a return to the game, raiding would be awesome even though I guess it will hard and require friends like M3's. But maybe it will have some easy version as well.

Cutlass Keys and Mourningdale are still getting reworks. they are the only zones that didn’t get more shrines for us to teleport to, still having their normal 2-3 for launch. I believe reek water didn’t get any new ones either but I would be surprised if they changed Reek, at least anytime soon.

after finishing the new msq, I've been wondering if they have been reworking other zones. Cutlass Keys, Morning Dale, Reekwater, and Restless Shores are no longer part of the main story. If you don't do the side quests nothing actually leads you to these settlements. They all still have their own side questing and story, but I just found it interesting that they aren't part of the main storyline to the extent they were previously. But this could also just be to cut down on the repetitive nature of some of the quests.

Can't wait to pay another 30 euros so I can swim!

maybe they should fix desync before introducing a pvp island...most my melee attacks miss in pvp, the game continue to teleport back my char after i got a "good hit"

If it’s a free for all island it will be played for a couple weeks and then dwindle in players. The devs don’t know what they are doing, making a new opr map would actually be more enjoyable than a FFA island but the devs are just completely out of touch, I just doubt they make something actually good knowing AGS.

If my progress went from console to PC and back, I would consider grabbing it.

PvP island and Console release is a big clap in the face. It's such a miniscule update if these are the two big announcements, but I don't expect much more from AGS..

Heavily Nerf the money we make from PvP then add loot loss, so we can't afford our gear, I sincerely hope this isn't the case

New World was fun for its time but Amazon needs to realize its dead and move forward with Throne and Liberty ASAP

I don't think the game will be popular on console simply because of how badly it's optimized for PC. Even if they lock the game at 30FPS 4k, it will run terribly. The best thing they can do is give it until the end of the year, see what they can do, and then pack it up. Focus on the LOTR game and take the mistakes they made with New World and learn from them on their next project.

Imagine they add Inv drop and then you cant equip anything you get from other players because the items are still bound to the previous player - mark my words

All the new content is going to be for console only lol. Yall are going to have to rebuy the game to enjoy it. It's worked before with the dlc and it'll work again lol. I'll just keep running around and farming my motes

Assuming it’s a console release. If it’s a big release then it needs to be big from a business perspective just as much as a player perspective, since this is…..a business

the huge announcement gonna be that we get swimming and can level it up like riding. then you have different swimming techniques unlocked

Wasn't there matchmaking leaked as well? Would love 3v3 rankeds or tournaments. Also there are so many monetization ways (skins, battlepass, transmogs, mounts, gear slots etc) that f2p would be sense imo, just need to make actually good skins...

i still have hope for new world to make a comeback. ive been playing since release and i always come back because it's one of the only good games when it's working and not bugging out. i noticed they were able to patch out some bugs pretty quick after this recent overhaul. i hope that's a trend that continues and people start coming back even before the big announcement.

I think end game like wars in this MMO can be fixed by just taking out the company aspect of owning territory. It should be Faction driven not company driven. This way everyone can take part and feels part of the end game and not the 1% or 2% hardcore. This way Factions mean something and if your faction owns a territory, each member can get maybe 200 coin a day for each territory that faction owns. Players that would get into the wars would be open for anyone to sign up from that same faction and the players would be randomly picked from the war board list to fight in the war. The game should be fair for everyone to have a chance to play everything the game offers and this way I believe would make open world influence race even bigger too and everyone in the dog would fight for 200 coin per territory a day. ( Companies should still be in the game, but not run the game )

You really think thousands new players will get it on console? I really doubt it. The only announcement that would excite me would be "NO MORE WEAPONS(or content that should be included in the release, like mounts) BEHIND PAYWALLS IN A GAME THAT COSTS ALMOST u$s70", cause that's the most stupid decision they've ever made, and they've made a lot.

IDK if there is anything Amazon can do that will make this game really work out. It just has so many flaws across economy, balance and structure. It consistently amazes me that they could spend 200M on it, still make a profit on the hype and yet have less players per day than EvE online.

They said 20% of players do OPR and 2% of players are in wars, so clearly the smart move is to put artifacts on a free for all PvP island. Not something I will bother with, but thumbs up for great videos!

imo, it would also have to have elements, that would make current play or Levels, or some stuff obsolete, or in some way. cuz thats why they dont even wanna say anything about it. there is only one main reason not tell folks what u are working on, and what will come, and that is when those things would make playing now feel kinda useless, cuz u know that in a few months your gear or progress or whatever, will be "pointless". (can always just play for fun of course), but folks in mmo's usually have a grind and progression, and it feels bad when u know u arent really working towards anything. And thats what AGS means by "we cant say, not good for the overall health of the game". simular to when we knew there was gonna be a gear score increase, and anything we grind, make or get now, will be useless after next update. even that small thing, made a huge player drop, and folks just waited for the GS increase to continue playin

They should do seasonal servers + harder gearing like legendarys should be rare and relics ultra rare... Like a real mmorpg where you need to grind a lot and if you get a good part your happy and not like oh another legendary

im deliriously waiting for fresh since November I was so gutted no fresh came with the expac.

I played for about 3k hours, but unfortunately, i came to the conclusion that this game isn't gonna have a big resurgence of players. I gave up hoping a long time ago but i will say i thoroughly enjoyed my time until i didnt . When the game first came out it was a blast besides the mass amount of bugs it was fresh and everyone was having fun, but with that said I think new world is done and has been for a while now.

Is it just me or was the pvp zone in ESO actually a decent size? When looking at 1:53, this "chunk of land" isn't looking too big.

Adding swimming, console, PvP island isn’t enough to save this game- not nearly enough. There’s like 4-6 other major items I’m not going to mention because we all know what they are - but this game can’t survive with zero content and they haven’t realized any substantial content since arguably Brimstone other than a reworked zone. I’m also not sure people will even come back if they have quit for the 2nd or 3rd time at this point even if content comes out. I’m definitely not sure I’ll ever open it again (and I have like 4400 hours in)

Pvp island is gonna be stupid mode for the open world pvp, people will group up via discord and kill anyone who is crossing the island. Unless this island is placed on the center of the map.

An autoflag zone with some unique features would be nice. but in true AGS fashion we all know they will screw it up. There has to be a REASON to go there. if they just plop down a bit of land and dont include something like inventory drop on death then it is pointless. People already run around flagged and for the most part avoid each other to the point that if you kill someone doing faction missions you are "trolling". so unless there is a REAL reason to kill someone this content will be DOA

Swimming/Mounts should've been out at the begging of the game, it will not bring back players now, 2 years into the game when essential features are being added. What the game currently lacks is meanigful rewards/progression and true end game raiding. You can say. sure bro go play wow if you want true raiding, which is why WoW ( even thou i hate it ) has largest amount of players playing it.

Game is dead because of the team working on it. It’s sad they dropped such a huge opportunity in the mmo world. Everything they record themselves saying they have failed miserably at. My personal favorite, “We are going to slow production to make sure content isn’t buggy as the gamers have requested”. They then proceed to drop the most bugged expansion in mmo history.

Make the expansion free i'll come back, I came back to the game every month or so because I'd see it on my library, download it and i'd play for at least 2 weeks each time, now that I gotta pay 30 bucks again (which isnt much) it's like making me buy it all over again, I'll just have to say no.

Why wouldn't they want to equip the existing three terms to allow the player to add a new term using new materials? What if you just eliminate the equipment that the player has spent time accumulating and let it go to zero? Such consequences for the old players is a disaster! No one wants to go through equipment destruction over and over again! I don't understand why the dev team hasn't realized that the three-term matching system has been boring and boring for players for three long years, and why not try to put it to good use by breaking down useless equipment or dropping outdated materials that are piling up in players' warehouses? Does the new World really need PVP islands? I think this is just to cater to a small number of players. PVP is not the only way to go in the new world, I really hope those people will stop misleading the dev team.
