It‘s great if you exclude the method to acquire the free token. Amazon could‘ve had a flawless W here, but they messed up massively with the 1% Elite Chest situation.
you do know once a week? in a week if u cant get a token from a chest then new world aint for you. they made that shit beyond casual. 1% is same a scarab.

I'm not going to spam chest runs all week just to be able to change my gear appearance, something that I can do whenever I want to without restriction in games like WoW and FF14. That shit is boring and tedious. New World in itself is just a long, boring, tedious grind. It's the reason why I, along with 90% of it's players, quit playing.
The system is so close to being good, the pricing and time gating on the tokens is actually insane though, 20,000 for 10 tokens!?! that's asking me for like ~$40 CAD to unlock 10 pieces of gear appearances. Between that and the BP pricing it's clear they have no idea how to value their content, I wouldn't be surprised if the expansion this year is $99.99 USD.

I like the way they implemented it ... but it's gonna be very hard to have a lot of transmogs due to the few tokens you will be able to get ... I used to play WoW and transmog there is much better, since you can transmog to any of the items you have or have had before, and you only pay in-game money for that everytime you transmog something... For casual players like me, it's gonna be effing hard to transmog the whole gear, and even more to have several transmog sets or change it whenever we want... I think Amazon should make this easier, but of course they're more focused on getting my money...
@@steven9496 nope... but making it more accessible ... for example instead of 1000 coins, make it 100 ... I don't know, but maybe make it more accessible to casual people who's not grinding all day...

So if u find the items they automatically unlock? Or do u have to salvage them for it to do to ur transmog book? Like I want the ranger starting green hood sooo if I start ranger I have that hood unlocked already ?
What I find odd is that you said that it scans your storage, but I've not been salvaging anything since Transmog has been announced ... all my inventories are full, and when I went to the Transmog guy, I was surprised at how few slots were unlocked.
Maybe it's because they divide in heavy/medium/light... I thought the same first time I saw it. But if you sum all the diferent weights then it's a lot of items and also sometimes the skin is the same despite we may think its different.
Can someone educate me here? If i bought a skin from the store and leveling up with new gear but want to keep that skin- do i need transmog tokens for each time i want to apply it? Or do skins function differently when purcahsed through the store?
Loving the transmogs except for one thing… the previewing of the skins is a nightmare… this should be in your house without 3k players around you blocking the poor as it is line if sight we have
Its not a game changer with this monetization system. Im gonna buy maybe 10tokens and dont give a shit about unlock them all. If they would be cheaper and easier to get in game - then i would like to collect all and spend thousands dollars to do it 😝
what i dont like about the mog system is how large the window is and how the item slots get in the way when trying to view some of the items. GS for example just goes off the screen and you aren't able to zoom out anymore and if you try to hide t he UI it just auto pops back on
I spent some time trying some different looks last night and really enjoy the change. It's not perfect by no means. For example, I tried to apply some dyes to all parts of a skin set I purchased when the game came out. When I applied it, I got some weird notifications and then realized it used my dyes, but the chest and helm were unchanged. It did consume the dyes, unfortunately which was a bummer because I only had a few of that color. I then was able to do it again with different dyes and it applied.
Funny how AGS's business model was to give it's players no control over looking like clowns with mismatched clothes, then sell that to them like it's special, all while simultaniously rejecting the money people would spend on store skins that they constantly remove for no reason, even though they need the money so bad that have to do this. It's a lose-lose! Someone should be fired.
Imagine if they'd released a "Best Of" collection of individual cash-shop skins when Brimstone Sands launched, so that the huge influx of players could decide whether to buy the handful of cool skins the game had released over the course of a year. Instead, they maintained the same "3 new skins every month, rotating everything else out" tempo and wasted all the potential revenue they could have generated from the game's brief resurgence from October-November of last year.
For some reason when i try to dye, the only thing that happens is dye disappearing and item looking just like before dye. System is not flawless but is nice
The MENU's, hud, interface of this game is crazy god, only if devs would polish it... and improve preview which should show on at least half of screen the character without any windows & other players blocking it.
The Transmog-System in itself is fine. The ways you acquire transmog tokens is not. I lost interest in transmog as a whole because of that. Like you said, put it on the faction vendor for example or corruption breaches or OPR chests, the list goes with possibilites besides elite chests. I am not doing chest runs again for a 1% drop chance.
@jayoddity did you noticed that there are some skins from twitch drops but we don't have it? I made all the twitch drops since the beggining of the game but some of them I dodn't have it. Are they a preview from future skins that will be in the twitch drops with the Expantion?
I like the system a lot. Takes a little getting used to it and paying attention to the terms (mainly COLLECTED vs UNLOCKED, and dying skins vs dying gear), but in general I think they did a nice job with this system. I also like how the skin stays associated with a piece of gear. Example, when I swap between gear slots, it will swap the skins as well. So my tank gear slot looks tanky with plate armor and my mage gear slot looks like a proper mage. Good stuff!
This is a terrible system for free players. This could have been such a great system. But a once a week 1% chance on the most boring game activity? It’s like the original gear score system. Anyone who isn’t paying for them just aren’t gonna bother with this. Extremely disappointed. If they made this 1 per day and multiple ways to get them you’d have people who would play every day. Not returning for this.
It's hard to call it a "Game Changer" when the biggest thing it changed is adding a new microtransaction to the cash shop. It hasn't done anything to increase player numbers, and it's questionable whether it'll even bring in enough revenue to get it into the Steam Top 100 Games By Revenue list next week. You can call it a 'success' for giving the game's remaining players something new to do, but I don't think the game is sustainable with the current population numbers, regardless of how many microtransactions they add every few months.
i think its good, that transmog tokens r rare, and hard to come by.. makes u have to think and decide which set u want.. makes it more induvidual and special that way.. if everyone just had heaps of tokens, everyone wud have most skins unlocked, and u wont look as induvidual etc
I think its a really cool update for new world.. first disappointed by them selling that tokens again, but the entire skin system rework is pretty cool made.
Good lord the New World player base really will love anything you feed them. They are thrilled about a transmog system that uses a token to be able to change lol. I mean these people can be fed the bottom of any barrel and "omg game changer!".
I went in game to look it over. It is bugged for me. The only way I can change a skin is through the transmog npc. I cannot do it the regular way. This has been a problem since season 2 started. I also cannot change gems in some things. I dumped a ton of coin into making a void resist amulet, but I cannot put the correct void resist gem in it. The devs should just close-up the whole thing and go do something else. Everything is intermittent in this dumpster fire of a game. Also, the devs somehow made hit detection worse! OPR's lag is back. It is still possible to seal Baron in the most BS way too. And of course the cheats are still there, but it is hard to tell with some, because it might be the game bugged/ cheating not the player. Also the player count is really low on the server. At this point, it is just a bigger waste of time. Everyone knows the rework will change a lot, but the idiot devs don't talk about it. Cooldown matts might or might not craft the new gear score items. Umbral shards, timeless shards, golden scarabs, patterns, etc might all be junk.
They said we would be able to dye skins we bought previously and now you can't (wanted to dye my Titanias Crown but cant) so the only thing you can transmog and dye is loot you found in the game. Personally speaking IMO Im done with New World for now, too little to late.
Yeah there is at least 1 skin, as far as I know but probably a few more, that are bug and dye isn't working/ avail. But in the 99% of the items, no matter from where u get it, u can dye it and actually is not just 1 part, u can dye many parts of the piece individually, up to 4 colors.
This game is overmonetized. Unlocking a transmog should be done by collecting the item, not by spending over 1€ (per item!) for tokens. Fuck this garbage.
Their system is completely useless, they should have done like GW2, you unlock your skins when you recycle them and you use the tokens when you want to use them, otherwise you pile up skins in your inventories if you don't have any tokens. which force you either to buy tokens in the shop or to sell or recycle your pieces of armor or weapon it's stupid. As they take a lot of things from Gw2 like jumpings, names and soon roots for their extension, ags should have copied their wardrobe system, there at least they would have done something intelligent.
you dont understand how it works.. now, after transmog launch, every gear u get will be snapshotted in ur transmog account. u can salvage the item, and then transmog it later if u want, or not.. i tested it. u can salavge everything now(if u were saving for transmog)
