I honestly appreciate what Traxxas is doing here and anyone that is looking to buy an Xmaxx should consider this, however, those of us that already invested in the platform are somewhat committed to upgrading. Not a bad thing in either perspective in my opinion. Upgrades are all based on our abilities and experience in RC.
Yeah I think the Ultimate is a marketing platform for Traxxas in-house upgrade parts. People are spending money on this stuff so they might as well spend it at Traxxas. Just another part of the RC market to capture. They can sell parts they have had for awhile but many didn't know about, and sell newer items introduced with the Ultimate. The point of this may not be to sell Ultimate XMAXXs which is a limited run. The point is to sell parts!
I have been looking to get a Xmaxx for 3-4 years now and I kept delaying it. Now that I saw there was a ultimate coming. I thought it was the perfect time to order the ultimate :)
I’m glad you got the ultimate, I wanted to see a nice honest review, keep it up earl your one of guys that inspired me to start my channel thanks man👍🏻
Thanks! Keep up the good work. I am a big fan of you your page. You definitely did help me to understand the X Max. I think this is was one of my favorite purchase.
I cringe when a child drives my R/C. It never changes that I let em try it, but they think I'll be mad. I never am, but some parents were hard on their kids when they crashed them... Hope your 2024 is bright.
@@flhandster4395 I ended up with an Ultimate. I had a hard time not choosing the Ultimate when I looked at both versions side by side. I'm very happy with it.
Great video Earl !! I just wanted to say I picked up a Big Rock 6S in white trim thanks to you and RC Guy garage for the all the info and I would like to say Happy New Year to you and your family !!! Thanks again for all the education !!!
When I was a kid I took my dad's tamiya monster beetle out to show my cousins as we had family round, I let one of them ava go n they crashed it into the house just as my dad pulled up on the driveway as it was a surprise birthday party for him. It still won't work at all, n even the guy from the shop couldn't figure it out. I'm 42 years old now.
Happy New Year to ya. I ran across an older video you did on the Traxxas rally. I have one also. Enjoyed it vary much. I go back to the Traxxas SRT days. Still have it. Thank you for your videos.
So Eman ya know I keep saying someday I'm going to get me an Xmaxx. Well guess what, I'm picking mine up tomorrow 💪🏻 I went with the standard Xmaxx & I can't wait to send it 🚀 🌙
@@earlmoorhead5555 absolutely I will. I have your video about new Xmaxx set up in my play list. I went with the stock Xmaxx so I have a budget for upgrades. Only thing I can't afford right now is the Max6 ESC. Thanks for all you do E
As an xmaxx owner myself I feel that the truck doesn’t need aluminium bulkheads or any other aluminium suspension bits other than the hinge pins. But definitely upgrade the electrics. I’m personally running a castle creations 2028 800kv motor and a max 5 esc. Should be more than enough to wake it up
Man I thought it was me with the throttle and steering sensitivity Lol! Thank you Earl for showing me that! I new to this hobby and man is the Xmaxx fun! I’m waiting for them to send me that optional gear. I got the light kit so I don’t want to swap the esc yet Lol
Great vid love the comparison. I run a 18/50 in my regular Xmaxx with stock electronics and it works pretty well but I might try 18/46 on my ultimate. I was looking in the manual after I picked up the ultimate today and in the section that shows what tools and accessories are included it shows a 46t gear is supposed to be included. I’m gonna call traxxas Tuesday and see what they say 🤷🏻♂️ Happy New Year Earl 🤘🏼
If I can swing it I am looking at getting the Ultra due to the steering servo and a few of the upgrades already done that I would do anyways to the regular one. I will definitely get the 46 tooth at time of purchase.
So I’ve got one of these on order at my local hobby shop. I’ve been torn between the standard and ultimate but after looking at the prices of some of the parts I wanted the ultimate wasn’t much more, plus it’s limited edition. Sounds like 18/46 gearing is the sweet spot? When I pick up the ultimate I might grab a spur gear.
14:53 Your the man, taking both x maxx's out to the track. I've got hardened steel gears on my x maxx geared 50/20 it doesn't seem to be quiet as loud, but i guess noise is just part of running the Beast. Love your videos ❤❤❤
I'm 13 and handle a sledge better than my dad and uncle. I drive it like a boss hardly break it I give myself a 8 out of 10 on driving it and a 10 out of 10 on driving my Maxx. Nice run looks like a fun muddy mess
My XRT was running the max speed gears Traxxas recommended on the chart think is was a 25/46 or 25/50 I cont remember but I had no issues and then finally installed a big block and hated the power 🤷🏻♂️
Having to gear it up out of the box , do you think it could use a slightly bigger motor ? Seems like a heavy truck and maybe more power make it easier to backflip etc .
Been thinking about keeping a couple rcs in my truck every day so I can run them after work or something. Is that what you do? I definitely will get a good bed cover soon so I can leave them comfortably. I’m surprised you don’t have your rear windows tinted.
Happy new year's Earl hope God brings health and happiness tonyou.and yours🙏🙏 Why u don't use a bungee to just drive one truck and haul the other one.blessings my friend from Massachusetts 🙏👍🤝
Old X - Maxx 46 install lubricant .That why noicing incredible.Bonnie buy direct dealer custom on the sport, handling to be widemax ,belted tire louis,1 set spur gear pinion gear top speed with bluetooth link transmitter.Heavy duty to be . Liked pulled reel car & haven't reached the level of flip, double flip... twice puck lipo battery & tool set maintenance X-maxx Traxxas.4 channel TQI
Why the XMaxx over the XRT? I have the Maxx and looking to add one of them (XMaxx or XRT) to my fleet. Trying to make a determination on which one to go with. Please share if you don’t mind. Thank you. 😎👍🏼
1500 is way to much for the truck. Not to mention most of their aluminum is only 6061. I rather upgraded on my own with better stuff. People who will buy that truck are just silly imo.
@RCPropaganda the bearing move around with the plastic covers that what I went aluminum with hot racing years ago specifically for the Cushdrive cover it was letting dirt in and bearing where moving around causing gear damage on the Cushdrive and front differential the rear I never had an issue but I replaced it anyway
@@earlmoorhead5555 I see, you're right. My bad, I meant 50/20 vs 46/18. I'm currently running 50/20 on stock XMaxx. Thinking about the 46/18. Thanks for the feedback. I'll try test with my Max 6, checking temps. I like those bigger tires the Ultimate comes with.
Ya know, on my stock xmaxx tires they have gone almost completely white on the sides, like the whole way up. It’s irritating. No idea why. Anyone else have this issue. It makes the car look cheap.
@@earlmoorhead5555 I wonder if he’s simply referring to the mold release agent like you describe. Haha if he is. Either way a quick wash should fix him right up.
@The_RC_Guru yes I’ve noticed traxxas just add some sort of oil vs trying to clean it off I’ve had the same issues and just added the 3D rubber conditioner as I couldn’t get the white to come off after scrubbing with dish soap 😯
X maxx electronics sucks ! There gearing system sucks too , ditch for fake Vivivon mod 1.5 ! Now finally my shit is dailed! No more stupid pinion sliding off from hard bashes…. Naw I mean! On sight !!!
Thank for the info..I own the regular XMaxx..Just ordered the upgraded aluminum parts..I had a 10 percent off discount..So I saved myself a few dollars..
The regular version you get the two out-of-round monkey-metal spur gears (conservative and speed gearing) and on the ultimate you get just the one upgraded hardened steel out-of-round (or maybe not) conservative spur gear. I guess they don't want to give you two upgraded gears in the Ultimate. Yeah both trucks are noisy but the ultimate sounds a bit smoother to me. I suspect that upgrade hardened gear isn't out-of-round as it is also machined; the point of machined gears is for better and more consistent tolerances right? It is probably something in the Cush Drive assembly causing the tighter mesh at some points in the rotation. Maybe Cush Drive isn't the best solution for whatever problem it is designed to address?
