Thank you so much for doing this video! I’m sure the “professional yarn dyers” are rolling their eyes at this product, but for someone like me who has never even considered the idea, this is a wonderful concept! You make it look much easier than I thought it would be, and if it wasn’t for a kit like this, I never would have thought about trying it!❤️💙💜
I’ve done this with KoolAid before, both soaking and sprinkling. This kit is a good idea for beginners because it has instructions and everything needed. Lion Brand comes out with the neatest things!
Hi Glenda! I’m so impressed with all your new content 👍 You have truly been sharing fun and inspiring videos. It just proves we Grandmas can certainly learn new tricks and keep up with the trends. Thank you❤
You did a great job Glenda. I must say that I didn't know how it will turn out but it turned out great. Thank you Glenda Thank you for sharing have a great rest of your day.
Thank you for showing us your yarn dyeing process! They both turned out pretty but I love purple & think that the purple wool is beautiful! I can't wait to try this!
Thank you so much for this! I've been thinking about learning to dye for a long time and finally feel ready to tackle it. How amazing that one of my favorite brands now has a kit right when I'm ready! Thanks for an in depth look at the kits! Now I can order mine and give it a go!
That was great to watch you do! Ive never seen the process before! Thanks bunches for sharing that with us! Loved how your colors turnef out on each hank in a different way!❤
I like the purple of course. I know I’ve heard and seen that you could overdye yarn like if you don’t like the orange speckle yarn you can over dye it to something else. There are tons of videos on how to do that. 🥰
Everyone - please be aware that Rit is not a food-safe dye. You should be using dedicated pans and tools for Rit dye. Do not cook or serve food in those dye pans. If you want to play with food-safe dyes, use unsweetened Kool-Aid or Easter egg dyes.
I like that Lion Brand is providing a kit. It looks super fun. However, charging $30.00 for it is highway robbery. You can buy the undyed fisherman’s wool and 24/7 cotton at Joann’s for $3.89 and $4.87 respectively. Rit dye costs about 2 bucks anywhere. So you can get all of this for around $10.00. Why is Lionbrand charging $20.00 more? For the directions on how to dye the yarn? That seems excessive. Anyway, great tutorial and this looks like great fun!
How in the world are you getting fishermen's wool for 3.87? Last I checked it was at least 12.99. Admittedly, it is a large skein, but it isn't 3.87. Regardless, I agree that 30 dollars is ridiculous unless there are numerous skeins and colors in the kit. ETA: ahh, I see that they are on sale through today and that they sell them in smaller hanks. It is good/bad that you posted this because now I've just ordered 10 of the wool and 6 of the cotton. LOL Also: the worst part is that, even based on LB's own pricing for the dye and the yarn, the kit should only be 22. But in reality, especially since you aren't choosing your own colors, there should always be a bundle discount. At most, it should be 20. That isn't to say that, on sale, you couldn't get the yarn even cheaper. And the dye is 2 or 3 dollars (depending on powder or liquid) each at HL. But it surely doesn't add up to anything close to 30 or even 20, for that matter. It's frankly insulting for them to double the price, effectively, because it is a kit. That defeats the purpose of buying a bundle.
Ik I replied to your other one, but just in case you don't see it, Yes you can, just make sure it's not the one for synthetic fibers. The bottle should say which fibers it works with ❤
Yes, as long as it's for whatever fiver you're using. They have a synthetic and a natural fiber type of dye The bottle will say what fibers it will work with ❤
For safety's sake you should NEVER use those pans, cookie sheets, or spoons again for food. They should now be stored with your craft supplies as for-dye-only.
